Has BitCryptex become a Polish merit source in the end?
There is so much time passed I think he should be appointed merit source without a doubt  Smiley

Polish section keeps growing every day and I see finally new members showing up.

A lot of new threads is published frequently and the only thing which hasn't changed is the count of merit sources in our local board and is still 1.

From obvious reasons, this number should be minimum 2.

Thanks for the explanation - I understand that this is the authoritative decision of @Theymos and he decides who and when deserves this honor.

But what's next? What are the next stages of the process?
theymos will PM you and state that you have been made a merit source.

If the candidate gathers a lot of positive comments, is it enough?
Does it have to wait until there is a free space among current merit sources or he can be chosen for an additional source?
Are there any rigid rules?
No rules, as far as I am aware. Some users have been made a source after 10+ pages of positive comments. Others have been made a source after barely any replies on their thread. There is no stated "limit" of merit sources, and nothing theymos has said has ever indicated as such. When new sources have been appointed in the past, the total number of sources has simply increased. Each merit source has a different monthly supply of sMerits, and on some occasions when appointing new sources, theymos has also altered the amount of sMerits some sources receive depending on their individual usage.

I think it is high time to bump this thread up to prevent it from becoming forgotten ...

By the way, can anyone explain to me how the next part of the process of becoming merit source looks like?
1. The candidate creates a thread, publishes posts which deserve more merit than they have received so far,
2. Users comment on the thread supporting (or not) the candidate ...

But what's next? What are the next stages of the process?

I just want to draw your attention to this thread, because for 2 weeks there is no fasting and we are still waiting for an additional source of merit in the Polish board.

I kindly ask other merit sources to look sometimes into our Polish section because we have a lot of high-quality posts with no merits at all.

We are a very small community but in the last months, we have achieved astonishing progress.
Our local section was far behind other local boards when it goes to merits awards (one of the last places 3 months ago) and still without merit source we were able to achieve 6th place this month between local languages when compared awarded merits. Imagine how much better we will stand with additional, active merit source and what we will be able to achieve? We see new members start to post and old once are coming back to our local section.

It would be nice if someone finally appreciates our efforts and help us a bit with this merit source application from @Bitcryptex.
Simply visit our Polish board and distribute a few merits in the best threads from time to time until we don't have additional merit source. That would help us a lot because we suffer from a chronic lack of merit, and there are just a lot of very good quality and unmerited posts. This discourages some members very quickly.

I think I have to add that our actual merit source is only sporadically active and distributed only a handful of Merits in recent months.

HERE is a great thread and post from @Cryptovigi, which accurately shows our local statistics from the last months in which you will find the number of merits given by individual members, the best threads, compilations and more. I will just add that this excellent post is also not awarded with merit.

Bump. The moderator of our section came back recently. He cleaned up our section a bit and spent a few merits in our local board. I would like to update my application.

I have also selected a few posts which deserve more merit in my opinion. Most of them are quite long so I decided to post links instead of quoting them.

I would like to thank everyone for showing their support for my application. I really appreciate it. It looks like more and more Polish users are becoming interested in posting in our local section. This topic can serve as a good example. As some of you suggested, I started spending more merits and it seems to have a positive impact on our section.

Since malevolent appears on the forum from time to time, I have also messaged theymos and Cyrus about possibility to apply for the position of moderator of Polish local subforum.

Our current and only merit source malevolent appreciated with merits only 13 post last 120 days (not all of them was written in polish section). We definitely need new one and BitCryptex is best choice.

@Tytanowy Janusz has right - during last 120 days he mention about only 13 merits from our local merit source came to polish local posts this causes the average 1 merit for 4 days to drop significantly - down to 1 merit on the 9.2th day ...
I understand that merit source is not assigned to a any board and the source decides who and for what will be rewarded, but the numbers above shows how much merit source on Polish local board is missing.

Don't get me wrong i can't say a bad word about @malevolent he rewarded me so many times, but looking at the local board as a whole, we feel a strong insufficiency....

Many thanks @tranthidung and all you guys for boosting my promotion. - I'ts very nice to hear that your story can be inspirational for anyone...

ending off-topic and returning to the main one - @Bitcryptexa application, it is worth noticing that recently he has been promoted even higher and currently he is ranked 43rd among the most merited users and 400th among the most recognizable ones, which confirms the value of this user

I can also vouch for and fully support BitCryptex. He is valuable member of Bitcointalk community, very helpful as you can see in hist post history and active on our local subforum. Also as most data shows, Polish section would really use some more merit action, so this would benefit other active users who can't post on different forum sections because of language barrier.

As a representative of the local Polish community on the forum, I fully support the candidacy of BitCryptex on merit source.
I am convinced that he is a user whose contribution to this forum and the professionalism of posts is unquestionable. The mere fact that during the year became a self-made hero member and hit the 61st position of the most merited users is probably enough here.

The second important issue that OP highlighted is the definitely inadequate level of merit source in our local board. Thanks to the statistics provided by @DdmrDdmr, we can see that our local merit source has spent over 13 months only 108 merits, which gives only 8.30 merits per month and 0.27 merits per day (in other words only 1 merit every 4 days).
I am aware that our local board is not the most active but putting more merits into circulation can significantly affect the activity of users.
I myself, when I was demoted to Newbie, was convinced that on the local board I have no chance of getting merit so I focused on English-language sections, I saw that other Polish posters were doing the same. Some of us managed to get promoted, but many similar to us who do not know English left the forum feeling excluded from the possibility of promotion.

I know that many of you do not quite support the way in which @BitCryptex is granted "own" sMerits, but I think that among the active members of our local community he is the best candidate. It should be noted that he not only granted us merits, but also encouraged to develop new topics by awarding merits translations of tutorials that broadened the content of the local forum.

Therefore, please support his candidacy and help us develop our local board.

There are lies, damned lies and statistics. MTwain
I’ll throw-in a couple of charts that may help a bit:

The above chart shows the amount of merit that has been sent specifically to the Polish local board, showing the data for the top 10 overall contributors on that front. The lines represent the amount of sMerits they have sent to the Polish board, and are charted as accumulative lines. The flatter the lines become, the less merits that are being sent.

The above is a summary of a possible suitable criteria for selecting Merit Sources I elaborated some time ago, but keep up-to-date on the Merit Dashboard. It displays data specifically for the local Polish board (ignoring sMerits sent to other boards). For each person it shows:

-   SentNetworkSize: Number of people one has sent sMerit to on the Polish board.
-   sMerit: the amount of sMerit sent on the Polish board.
-   nTx: number of sent sMerit TXs on the Polish board.
-   Avg. Merit Tx: Average sMerits sent per TX.
-   stdDevSentTx: Standard deviation (a measure of the variance from the Avg.)
-   cVarSentTx: stdDevSentTx over Avg. Merit TX.

Arguably, it may be easier for a candidate to becoming a Merit Source if he has a wideish SentNetworkSize, as a means to show that he has the capability of baring in mind a largish set of posters, as opposed to a reduced set of them. The other ratios are of lesser nature (but not unimportant), and helps to view the merit awarding habits.

A Merit Source may use his merits on any board, although if one may postulate or choose to be a bit more focused on a specific local board in order to contribute to keeping it active. As such, I always try to find meritable posts on my local board, and think it way be wise to do so if you have a decent amount that you are currently holding. Standards do not have to be the same on every board. For example, on the Beginners & Help board the criteria may be lower in comparison to other boards, being the nature of the board conceptual context enough for that differentiation.

I will vouch for @Bitcryptex as a merit source in our local community.

We are really trying to do our best to be active and try to post engaging content to attract members but we are only a team of few people and don't have enough merits to award all valuable posts.

...i also see that you are a little too "generous" when it comes to sending merit, i see a few "10s" sent on your merit page...

I can confirm that 10 merits awards were for translations. I don't think this is too much (I have translated 2 of them) because these tutorials where really deeply technical and this is not so easy to translate to the Polish language because a lot of this words doesn't exist yet.

In the Polish section, situation looks bad because there is literally no chance to get merit for an answer or even longer post. Despite content is good and add to discussion. You have to really do your best and write a tutorial or article to get one or two merits and even such posts aren't awarded sometimes.

People are aware of this situation and after a few posts, without reward, they run away to English boards to try luck, despite their lack of knowledge and writing skills which makes the situation only worse.

Polish local forum needs an additional merit source please accept @BitCryptex.

be constructive or S.T.F.U

ok , understood , i would also encourage you to follow suchmoon's recommendation, do not hold on too long on those merit , specially in your local board, i would merit even half-good posts to encourage local members, some members might not wait for too long be merited, and they might stop posting and your local board could end up with mostly shitposters.

Good luck with your application.
