Corruption has eaten deep in the political system of Nigeria, no one to trust with public funds, everyone aim at stealing the public treasures. And we keep voting people with corruption cases. The citizens ignorances are always part of the problem we're facing in this country. They impoverished us so they can use a little dime to buy our heart doing a election and we keep voting them.

Nigeria is regarded as one of the fastest developing nations in Africa, nigeria ranks 144th most corrupt country in the 180 countries listed in the transparency International corruption index.
There is no doubt, there are problems or challenges facing the nigeria politics.
(1)GODFATHERISM
Godfathers are political sponsors who uses money and influence to win election for there preferable candidates.Godfathers are those who have been in the system(politics)for years, they can manipulate results and appoints candidates they want into political positions. When this candidates get into power they can't be free taking decisions on there own, except those ones that will eventually breaks out.A solution to this problem that policies should be put in place to ensures transparent election so as to put godfathers useless.

(2)CORRUPTION
Corruptions remains a problem in nigeria and also politics as well, and it is also global, causes of corruption are;
*greed
*tribalism
*nepotism, corruption is in facts not only political problems, it also takes place in the society, economy, churches, place of work etc.

(3)TRIBALISM
Tribalism has been the cause of war, electoral malpractice, political instability in nigeria, citizens loose there sense of reasoning and vote person into power not considering if he or she is capable of leadership, they do it because of tribalism sentiment.etc

In conclusion corruption have started since before we are born, but just that it is getting out of hand, we know it is not easy to fight it, but we are calling on the government to give a good example and a good leadership, and also enforce a law to face when you are a victim...

that is not country who does not play A rules of corruption and Godfather reason in politics air quality before you become something in most to be under somebody four moons and for years before a political position can be given to you so I believe that politics is all about chain so when you do hook another person it will bring another one close by is the network of politics

Nigeria's political system only has one issue—we keep electing wicked persons to office every year, and we citizens want the system to change. To lead this great nation, we must first be able to vote for decent leaders who share our moral values and political aspirations.
I have faith in the new administration led by Sen. Bola Tinubu; despite his advanced age, he will serve the country effectively. He has a proven track record and stellar administrative credentials.

You must be deeply disturbed by the way the Nigerian government handles political issues and how it affect the entire country. However, this is not limited to Nigeria; other African and developing countries face similar challenges. You've just mentioned three important factors that cause a democratically elected government to fail, even if they've been practicing it for a long time or have the resources to do practice it fairly to their citizens.

Most citizens can only hope for a better nation, but their prayers will go unanswered unless they stand up and fight for themselves. Nigeria and every other nation facing political problems will one day stand up and fight against all injustice, and that day you’ll all feel a new freedom.

To address these challenges, it is important for Nigeria to implement measures that promote transparency and accountability in the electoral process. This can include measures such as the use of technology to enhance the credibility of the electoral process and the implementation of laws and regulations that promote free and fair elections.

Similarly, to tackle corruption, Nigeria can introduce anti-corruption policies and measures to enhance accountability, such as strengthening the judiciary and law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute corrupt officials. Also, promoting transparency in government transactions and procurement can also help in reducing corruption.

Finally, it's important to address tribalism in Nigeria. This can be achieved through promoting national unity and social cohesion, creating a sense of belonging and shared identity for all citizens irrespective of their ethnicity, and promoting equal opportunities for all Nigerians regardless of tribe or ethnicity.

In conclusion, Nigeria needs to take proactive measures to tackle these challenges, through the implementation of policies and the promotion of strong institutions, to ensure a prosperous and stable future for the country.

Op, Nigerians have a local board. It will be fine if you discuss important things about Nigeria in the Nigerian board. I am sick and tired of reading all negative things about Nigeria in the bitcointalk. What exactly will this post achieve for you here?
Are the Nigerian leaders here in bitcointalk? I am not in anyway supporting bad leadership and their is no ideal country.
Let us limit the way we paint Nigeria black always or in some situations balance it with the good part of Nigeria too.

op, all you listed are issues that are related developing countries. But in Nigeria politics, the major problem we're facing are leadership and followership problem. I made an observation, the 144th out of 180 should be in the category of the least corruption countries in the world. When you talk about the most corrupt countries in the world, Nigeria is in top 30.

So far it's very evidential that corruption has remained one of the major problems hindering Nigeria as a country from developing at the same place with other developing countries. Politicians are not helping matters, the citizens are also not also helping matters as they allow themselves to be used by the corrupt Politicians who don't care about the poor masses.

When you talk of Nigerian politics the you are concentrating on the corruption aspect of it because the Politics of Nigeria has been hijacked by the hoodlums Who called their self a politician which the citizen nose that the problem of politicians in Nigeria is basically on the corruption aspect so without corruption Nigeria would have been a good a country for someone to transit and run other businesses
no country that does not have a problem I don't know country that does not experience corruption corruption is everywhere but it based on the people who is Alina country a politician must to be a corrupt person and it is very understandable that no politician is easier so any politician you see today most to have unquestionable character which lead them to any political position they are today so it is generous not only in Nigeria

The tribes need to know when to work together. Too bad so many Nigerians (Africans in general) are too emotional to sit down and think straight. Powerful emotions are genetic, and there is too much of it in Africa (Nigeria).

Cool

My brother you're right Africa as a whole has no synergy for unity, they're too emotions in diversity, no unity, no love, no contentment, no national ambition. Nigeria is a crack with hard to crack leaders, the country is not ready and willing to change everybody is in one way or the other corrupt on daily bread than future bakery. They have no true democracy, no incredible election or leaders, no sincere youth who will refused elections bribe and corruption. Always complaining after a failed system. God help Africa

Does not Nigeria also have to deal with Terrorist groups in the east of the country? I would have guessed that those terrorist could also have some influence in the national politics, like it has happened in Lebanon and their groups.

Also, I did not Godfatherism (as a form of political sponsorship) was a thing there in Nigeria. In general, to have a good democracy, those who have had position of power in the past are not supposed to have much influence in the future of the politics of a nation, their time has passed and their attachment to power east away the future of millions on people.

I wished there was a way to restrict those people without being accused of attacking the freedom of speech.
Nigeria is fighting terrorism not only in the Eastern part but also in the Northern and Western parts of the country. The terrorism In the East is a product of the struggle for political power and the rise of secessionist groups that are seeking independence from Nigeria. The terrorist in the North are members of Boko Haram and ISIS West Africa. The terrorist in the Western part of the country are militias that were chased out of Libya during the civil war and most of them moved to Nigeria pretending to be herdsmen.

The Nigerian military has the capacity and military might to put an end to these internal conflicts and external aggression but because some corrupt highly placed government and military officials are gaining financially from these conflicts, that is why it has lingered for many years. As @op rightly pointed out tribalism has also contributed to the escalation of these conflicts. It is believed in some quarters that the president is sympathetic to these terrorists terrorizing the western and northern parts of the country because they are from his tribe.

the leaders we have are not ready to change the situations at hand, that is the reason why they are all coming out for there selfish interest, the mention Godfatherism is also a factor that affect the political system, for example let us look into our own rivers state you will confirm that everything is just moving to a particular set of party why;is because those fatherism in power uses there influence to appoint, instead of the people to vote for there franchise...
