I would like to say that Craptsy would be better off being audited and shut down by a three letter government agency.  That's my opinion.

The only reason to do a Take Over with new ownership is because it has a brand of high value.
So then i ask you all DO YOU think Cryptsy's name is still in good enough standing for that ?

Today i see YES close it @ 17 votes.
and NO leave it open @ 10 votes.

I am a bit surprised so many said 'keep it open' to be honest..
Even with a take over I suppose they have to pay all the amounts people own from cryptsy. Or am I wrong about this ?

Most takeovers have an angreement that debts are not part of the takeover, usually only the systems/assets/know how without funds/debts will be sold. The new owner doesn't feel responsible and the previous one states that he has nothing to do with the service anymore.

So I wouldn't hope for that.

Just my personal opinion: Cryptsy was always my #1 exchange. I liked the UI most, they had/have the best coin selection for miners, low minimum amounts for trading, FIAT options, many markets and much more. There's no other exchange that provides all those features (i.e. Bittrex too fast with delisting, only few PoW coins, higher min amounts, less markets).

So there may be reasons why some users still like Cryptsy and hope all will be good soon.

I'm done with Cryptsy, poor or better even not existing support, lack of communication, always problems with wallets in maintenance and now the withdrawal problems. I got scammed by too many "service providers" in the last 1,5 years in crypto and won't ignore all those red flags. Even a "takeover" wouldn't be safe, you never know who is still active in the background.

I don't think they should close, maybe something like takeover could fix their problems. I am sure they can sell it for profit, there is name, user base, lots of altcoins.. etc that must worth something. Don't know is it possible, or is there any legal limitations for that.

I don't think a new owner would operated the same way Cryptsy does. They would remove most of the altcoins (due to low trading volume) and focus on those coins listed on the other exchanges. Cryptsy is th #1 for the usual Scrypt miner as you can sell most of the coins there. If the new owner would go like Bittrex or Polo, what would be the advantage of "new Cryptsy" to compensate the trust that needs to be built up?

Craptsy has been around for too long now... Better close it down before more people fall for their scam.
Op means if cryptsy then solved current problem, should they remain running or stop and close their service.
In my opinion it depends on how the way they solve the problem, if clearly their problem reasonable they deserve to get a chance to remain running the service.
But so far their excuses are not reasonable looks abandoned and bad. So No, they should be shutting down and disappeared.

I think it's about BigVern's continual silence.
This last drama with problems has gone on like 3 months.
The last message was saying he would communicate more.
Before that it was about an hour down time for some unknown reason.

Believe it or not i don't want to be an asshole about them.
I have been convinced of shady activity in the past with them already before these recent problems.
BUT i had hoped earlier on in October that they would have learned from this latest mistake.
They have not.
They strung it all out for 3 months shifting a lot of the blame on anyone but them.
BigVern has not stepped forward all this time with a reasonable explanation either.
So taking that into consideration i have to vote NO.. fuck 'em close it !
It's been 3 months..

Why should they close?

If they proceed with this customer hate, they will be force to close in a few weeks or so.
I got a verified account and yes i had to wait 24 hours too for my withdrawal to be accepted.

What's the need for a verified account then.. Treating your customers this way, is a guarantee of failure.

Results are interesting so far.. mostly close it !

The thing is Cryptsy will not close.
They will simply drag it out as long as they can.
The ONLY question is.. how much abuse will you all take ?

They're not going to pay anyone back anyways so why not get them closed because right now they're misleading more people into their scam.
