Ok, finally my funds have been released by Poloniex! Took a while but I was able to withdraw my funds before shutting down my a/c.

I wish I had been that lucky!
But I wasn't, and I lost more than one BTC, which Poloniex stole from my account.

today they have asked me to upload a copy of a recent utility bill...

That's not normal. I never had to provide a utility bill. They have no right to ask for that info, a passport & photo is more than enough & meets the legal requirement.

See this post for more info:  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--4403389

I didn't expect this, and it is posing to be a little bit of a problem for me.   I do not have any utility bill coming to me at the same address as the ID proof I provided.  I will have to perhaps get creative...

Once the IRS gets involved (I know they have infiltrated Poloniex through SEC requirements) know that things are going to turn real ugly.

They have no right to ask for these documents, but they do because it legally is a way for them to know more about you, and it directly feeds the three letter agencies with your information as well. People are better off accepting the changed reality and adapt to the situation by either accepting it and provide the requested documents, or to not use centralized exchanges anymore.

Governments want to know who you are, and want you to pay your due taxes, all in a friendly manner, or not so friendly.

this was already expected, how would they know where you live if you do not deliver utility bill? welcome to the world of government bureaucracy, soon they will have to create some face scanners program and force people to trade with their active web cam, hahaha so we will all be controlled live. Just kidding. The problem with this type of verification is that these guys create problems for people who are from Portuguese speaking countries, because our documents are in Portuguese.

I just checked my account, it's frozen Cry. Does verification require a photo ID?
or filling the basic personal date sufficient to reactivate my account to do just last withdrawals on my Doge/LTC.
Good thing I withdrew most of my BTC back in July/August last year Cool
Basic details won't be suffice. What you'd need is probably:
ok... but that's the opposite of what they said in december 2017
they broke their own promises Angry on the 2 points I bolded below
Read this article, they have indeed broken their promises: http://bitcoinist.com/poloniex-breaks-promises-forces-kyc-legacy-account-holders/
I thought since Circle bought poloniex, all the bylaws would change, but they only are becoming stricter on KYC. Sad

They mean that they want their customers to verify their account within two weeks but the process may not be completed within those 2 weeks by poloniex staff. They claim they are adding new support staff, lol.

NOTICE TO OUR LEGACY ACCOUNT HOLDERS
---snip---
...The exact date for this deadline will be announced in Q1 2018. While you will be given advance notice before this requirement goes into effect, we encourage you to verify your legacy account now to avoid any potential interruptions in your ability to trade on the platform...

On the date of the deadline, legacy accounts will be placed in a state where:

I also notice the latest poloniex's annoucement in kabit9's screenshot posted above
I thought they would just block trading and let people withdraw their funds if not doing/complying with verification
that's like stealing people's money if we are not allowed to make last withdraw
Banks have been doing that for years now. They keep your funds on hold for every tiny reason that they can possibly find. Those fuckers inspired poloniex and bittrex to do the same. Even right now, my bank has kept my 2000$ on hold.

I'm a bit confused, what do they mean by saying "...within the next 2 weeks"?
isn't that mean we have 2 weeks to comply before freezing or before what?
I haven't log yet, planning to check it out sometimes today Embarrassed

WITHDRAW IMMEDIATELY!
Unless you have the patience to talk to the support to ask why and what they did to your account(supposedly if they did,God forbid though).
Frozen accounts only means you can't withdraw I guess.

The shitty thing is that they did not send us any email or notification 2 weeks before freezing the accounts.

I see that the next phase has just started, they are now freezing all legacy accounts Lips sealed
Hadn't they been doing that from a past few months? A lot of people got their accounts frozen/blocked and apparently some even got banned(because of living in Syria and shit).
I guess I should check and withdraw what's left in my account
if frozen can we still trade? to unify all different coin balance in btc/doge for last withdrawal

I believe that they are coping with the new platform but somehow they shouldnt take aside on what are the things that should be prioritize.Yes, it does take too much time and effort but this should really be the way on how to treat up users. If they would just simply neglect this one then i will not be surprised that they would go the same path with poloniex. Exchange popularity do come and go depending on how they do perform or do such service into its users.
Its Circle. Its poloniex. They suck. Big time.

Do they care about their customers? Hell no.

Do they care about their own money? Fuck yeah.

Will poloniex ever get into a good exchange ever again? No Can Dosville, Baby Doll.

People expected Circle to have more employees for support and whatnot, and the support has only become worse since then. I don't know if they are not trying or are they still coping with the new platform. Either poloniex has managed to ruin its reputation to mud.

Legacy account only means that you created your account before certain very important term changes were forced through.

This title however doesn't prove to hold much value. Bittrex has automatically changed the status of all legacy accounts to have them comply with their recently changed terms, which people are massively complaining about.

I had a pretty solid withdrawal limit before this trolling started, but it got downgraded to just 0.4BTC which is quite demotivating. If the price keeps going up, basic accounts will only be allowed to withdraw 0.10BTC.
Bittrex used to be a damn exchange. I loved that exchange, and had awesome trades in that one. And one day they collapsed my withdraw limit from 3 BTC to 0.4BTC,without prior warning. And then they shut down registrations and came up with a new beta, let's see what they have really done now. Although,Bittrex's CEO confirmed that USD pairs will be available in bittrex,as they have teamed up with a New York signature bank.
I'd just like to say though that without a legacy account on which people are able to trade without verification, there is virtually no reason to use poloniex anymore. Even though Circle has bought them out, there doesn't seem to be much signs of improvements.

Has anybody gone through their entire verification in the last couple days? I would greatly appreciate if someone described the whole process, what do they require in steps, or just link to a post that describes it somewhere (I couldn't find)

I have tried going through it but my profile says "Pending Review" since May 27.

Basically you fill out your name, address and phone number and then provide front and back image of identity document (passport or drivers license), and then provide a selfie.

I honestly wouldn't bother unless you want slow support, scripted responses, wallets offline & funds you can't access.
