is there a bootstrap for the classic chain? my wallet is stuck (for many weeks) on blk #2429859, about 14 weeks ago

There is not a recent bootstrap available. That is one of the major reason we launched the new chain because the chain took so long to sync.
If you had synced it that far with the old wallet v7.1, you will have to resync the wallet using v8.1
Just let me know if you have any more questions
