Yesterday, I searched the keyword "Merit Source" on meta, and all the results were old. Most of them were created in 2018.
The forum search feature isn't the best one around, but you can customize it to show you better results. Pay attention to the Message age fields. It's set at 0 and 9999 days by default, so it searches through the entire history of Bitcointalk. Make it 0 and 7, for example, if you are looking for something that was written in the last week. Make it 0 and 31 if the post isn't older than a month, etc., etc.

But I would still suggest Ninjastic.space or a google search with "site:bitcointalk.org" followed by the keywords as better alternatives.

Do you have any plans to create a search engine for Bitcointalk only?
Nope. But you can use TryNinja's Ninjastic.space - BitcoinTalk Post/Address archive + API. Direct link: ninjastic.space/search.

Oh. I already use Ninjastic. But, I didn't know the Ninjastic search tool could be used to search for a keyword. I always write the author's name, select the board and select the date range. I never tried Post Title and Post content. That's my bad. Anyways, Thank you for the reminder about it.

Here are the registration timestamps:

(u=553629) September 09, 2015, 10:46:20 PM

So in this case, there was a ~10 minute window (can't know that ahead of time obviously, have to get lucky) to create a new account and get the number that you expected to.
Obviously, anyone with that level of knowledge on a forum they're just registering on couldn't have been a newbie upon registration. They must've been on the forum quite a while before registering that account.

As regards funny usernames, what about xuO4k04c6Ng They made 1 post and
probably forgot their complicated usernames.

I'm sure this has happened a good few times?
I won't be surprised if that was actually what happened. I hate stuff being made complicated. It's best to keep stuff really simple. If not for hacks and all that, I would be keeping my passwords very easy to remember without having to write them down on paper. Let alone monikers.

LoyceIsMyMother - Huh? Not sure If LoyceV knows about this. You didn't tell us.
I know all combinations:

That's why sometimes people get confused about you. Sometimes I think you are an AI. Your searching ability is awesome. I guess you have your own Bitcointalk server. xD. Anyways, I have been thinking of asking you a question for a long time. But I didn't find any relevant thread to ask. Let me ask here. Do you have any plans to create a search engine for Bitcointalk only? I need it, and I believe most of the other forum members will agree with me. Bitcointalk forum search takes a long time and often comes with errors. Sometimes search result is incorrect. I mean, we do not get the expected result. For example, Yesterday, I searched the keyword "Merit Source" on meta, and all the results were old. Most of them were created in 2018. You can try it yourself. I believe you used your own server to search for such things. Sometimes I search specific keywords by a user, and it doesn't show me the correct result. If you public such features, I will be glad.

There was this user named "Hard Facts"; it's funny not because of the username per se, but because his username is a 100% opposite of his posts. His name was Hard Facts but his posts were crappy opinions.
Curious to know meaning behind your username, i usually think about Mortal Kombat 4 whenever come across your name.
In cars, it means "make 4", so the fourth generation. Google shows the Volkswagen Golf Mk4 as first option, but I've seen "mk2" and higher used on other car brands too.
So maybe it's his fourth reincarnation Cheesy

Well, I guess it depends on individual what they make out of these names  Tongue

I always think of mk4's username as being named after a car, particularly the
Ford Escort MK IV, all of Fords Escorts are commonly refered to as "Marks"
1 and 2 being the most popular and sought after now

just wondering, do i speak frank enough to people, or am i a kiss ass that simps to the social whims?
as for coin analogies franking a coin in history is the same as confirming a coin in modern crypto

as for other features like pseudonymity
i have a key in my name but its not obvious to be found in my name until i mention it and point it out

is my name:
fran-key(female crypto owner)
franky whon(asian)
am i frank from the E1 area of london
(none of the above, but i like to have options to confuse people)

maybe my name is too subtle or like i prefer it, no one cares and i can stay under the radar

I like it. But I am confused. The forum doesn't show you your user ID during the registration. Did you create a different username and then PMed theymos and ask to have it changed after you created an account or what happened there?

I think it was probably just (cleverly) well timed. You can see the latest new member at the bottom of the home page or the dedicated stats page. I think the user number is simply incremented each time a new registration takes place, so you can predict what yours will be if you're quick enough.

Here are the registration timestamps:

(u=553627) September 09, 2015, 10:36:49 PM
(u=553628) September 09, 2015, 10:41:21 PM

Yes, it's clever. As far as I know, you are the only member who doesn't need to open his profile in order to find his UID (unless he memorized it). I find that very clever. Smiley

Why rack your brains to come up with something original? It's as simple as that. You take your forum ID and that's it - your nickname is ready. Here you have both simplicity and originality. Imagine for a moment that our whole forum consists of such nicknames Smiley At least there would be no imposters on the forum Wink

My User ID is 553628

As far as I have seen, there are several members with the username Daniel on this forum, but only one is original, of course  Grin
In order to avoid the wrong conclusions, no, I wasn't born in 1991 and I'm not that young anymore, although I wish I was  Cheesy
I'll leave the rest to myself, for now.
On another note, the funniest name on this forum that I've come across recently is cryptoshupak.
Should it be translated?  Cheesy
