It really depends, are we talking about carrier lines (T1/T3), ethernet, fiber, cable, dsl, satellite, etc? Cable/DSL are cheaper than ethernet/fiber, but not nearly as reliable. It's also not symmetric.

Only issue is that it cuts out very frequently but its pretty fast

although i have a 80Mb both ways connection at work, sharing it over WiFi 2Ghz does slow it down to around 20-30Mb or even slower at times, although 5Ghz I had better results, it is best just to 'plugin'!
What do you mean by sharing? Sharing with other people?I managed to transfer my signal over 400m and still have 1/3 of my speed.

6mb today....I feel blessed I've been having better speeds recently and I'm not sure why.

It actually depends if the website can serve it that fast. If not, it wouldn't be very fast. I can see a big difference between my old 100mbps and 300mbps in both upload and download. I'm pretty satisfied with my speed, it is quite stable.Do websites serve that fast?
