They should just set the hardcap in usd since the start so the volatility of the market won't affect them as they will have the same amount of money that they required. I don't like projects that postpone their ico for a long time, although the market is not that good but most of them can still get a lot of money that's more than enough to fund the project.

The problem is that even setting the HC in usd will not provide a uniform investment playfield since investors will still be paying in crypto so the problem remains.

Now is not the best time for start any ICO I think. So if project is not very fantastic and popular then really better to postpone it. But I think in this case ICO should give an option to investors to refund their investments.

It might be true that the recent market is bearish but i think it should not be the basis to postponed your ICO. It should be a part of the plan and you should have already a solutions on this scenario if this possibility will do occur. They are just two kinds of market, bullish and bearish so why postpone when in fact if the bearish is over it will be bullish again.

So what do you guys think about this? Recently I decide to invest in ICO because I like the project. And the CEO of that project say thing like this
"Taking into consideration our long-term vision and responsibility towards our early investors and supporters we have decided to postpone the ITO until the market conditions will be more favorable and we will have more to present in terms of real value. Currently, the competition on the crypto market is fierce and it takes a  lot of time, efforts, and money to run a global scale token sale, so instead of burning funds we will keep focusing on platform development, building the community of talents and keep preparing fundamentals."
Do you guys thinks it really necessary to postponed the ICO ? cause we will never know when the market condition will be more "favorable" it can take 2 months even 2 years, right?
Right, we can't know when the market will be good. It may take five years, so delaying the ICO means that the ICO has failed. I do not appreciate the delayed ICO as it does not attract the attention of investors. And that is a bad project

I think that on the one hand these actions are logical, but it seems to me that now it would be more profitable for the project to raise funds, since either Ethereum or Bitcoin is invested in projects and the exchange rate is tied to the dollar, soon Bitcoin and Ethereum should begin to grow, which means that the amount of fees in dollars will increase. In General, it is strange.

I noticed that most projects with clear vision tend to do this. Instead of running a vague ICO while the market is down, it is better to postpone it. FarmaTrust did the same and today it's a success. They reached the hardcap, already listed and developments are on.

That means they care with your money but they are forgetting about it can destroy the credibility of their ico. There was so many projects are not going to postpone their ico caused by the volatility because they are interesting to create something that useful for us. There were some icos have raised less than 1 million dollars but they are still try to creating such a useful product.

absolutely right, only stupid teams that give price volatility as their reason because market volatility has become a common thing in the cryptocurrency world if they are worried about market volatility, why not sell tokens based on usd prices?
I think the real reason for postponed ICO is the bearish market, they are afraid it will reduce investor interest and can't raise a lot of money in the bearish market

Thanks for all comment and opinion on my thread guys, so I get some of you agree with postponing some not and some other believe there another option the CEO can take except postpone the ICOitself. And to the guy who mentions about a refund that not gonna happen cause the ICO is postponed/delayed not got cancel. And for another guy who talks about the CEO decide to postpone so we the investor and they can make a maximal profit, I think I agree with that though. But me myself not gonna make that delay as a problem cause I can see that they still update the blog and news etc at their website so I can see the update, the only thing I don't like is where they write "Date to be announced" so that gonna take a while I guess.

Lot's of promising ICO's have been dumping to half the ICO price as soon as they hit the exchanges. I'd wait to see what happens if you are wanting to join in on an ICO. During a bull market, that is not the case but we aren't in a bull market right now.

I don't think so, this is good chance to invest now while ETH is cheap ~$300 USD/ETH.
Marketcap ~ $210B USD, let think about bullish period, which is waiting for us.
problem is finding a potential ICO to invest. My favorite ICO: Organicco https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annicoairdrop-organicco-green-tech-proven-technology-3379079
I bought 10 000 ORC tokens and hope can earn profit in future from company in future because it is a security token  Grin

Not the only project doing that. This is  really a difficult time for ico projects and cryptocurrency in general, more than 50% projects failed to reach their Softcap and either postpone or suspend their project but it's matter of time things will turn around

Sometimes it can be a good option to postpone it, ICO launching need to be prepare carefully, because the first impressions is very important, and the ICO also need to consider the market situation to know the investors capability, postponing an ICO doesn't mean the ICO is failed or afraid to compete, but it shows that the developer team consider the project from a lot of aspect

At present, some ICOs are taking a long time because of the gloomy market situation, hope this situation will soon end and the market will be more open later this year.

I've seen so many project that was extended for several weeks but never seen postpone ICO. much better if just extended than postpone it on the middle of the sales. It will just hurt the project if it will be postpone in the middle.  I have joined several project that was ended by not reaching their target goal. The team decided to just extend the ico for several weeks to meet the target some project was just re launch after several months.

I just come from a postponed Ico which I promote for over 4 months, this is one of the risks of the bounty campaign, not getting anything from the bounty campaign that was paused, but what can we do the market is very unstable not a good time to launch an ICO but still many people take the risk of launching one.

This actually sounds like a smart move speculation-wise. Revealing a token in bear market might be bad if you want to stay at the top and have an actual project.
