Since those two hundred or so people who witnessed the events all went "zomg wow this is very important to bitcoin!!111one" all took screenshots, chatlogs, etc and rushed in to post on this forum I am anxiously awaiting all of their replies with proof here.
Since they don't seem to be here, and since it seems weird to me that Tux would only do this on IRC and not more public with a bigger announcement... I call BS.

Wtf. Black helicopters much?

I was there.

First the .4242 amount was named by non-mtgox parties (I didn't witness this myself, but talked to the people after who did).  Second the exact value of the txn and destination address were announced by mtgox a long time (probably 45 minutes?) before my node saw the flooded transaction. Apparently MagicalTux had issues getting connections up to a pre .23 wallet.

I consider this sufficient evidence that mtgox still controls that bitcoin.

Well, I can see if anyone else from IRC would like to post. However, if it helps, here's my buffer dump:

(Just search for 4242 or somesuch)

Also, here's a reddit thread from yesterday that's relevant:

In response to a challenge that Mt. Gox was insolvent, MagicalTux, on IRC, decided to do a transfer of a pre-chosen number to prove they still had bitcoins.

" anyway, going to send to 1eHhgW6vquBY... the 424242.42424242 btc"

Here they are:

http://blockexplorer.com/address/1eHhgW6vquBYhwMPhQ668HPjxTtpvZGPC

I and probably 200 other people can verify that he made that statement before the coins were sent. Also, if it means anything, MagicalTux's nick was registered with a hostmask that matched previous ones and he demonstrated intimate knowledge of Mt. Gox.

I thought I'd just let you all know. Take this however you might, but I believe it puts to rest the theory that the hacker "cleared out" Mt. Gox. Hopefully someone who knows how to read blockexplorer can enlighten us, however. I hope that other IRC folks can verify this as well.

And now, a bunny:

wait.

that bunny HAS BEEN HACKED!!

look closely... where's the pancake on its head!!???

And then in an ironic twist of fate.. The hard drive that held the only copy of the destination wallet.dat file unrecoverably crashes...

Shocked

...which also (almost) prooves he is still lying about a single 500kBTC account, when 430k seems to be their entire offline deposits.

So what, who here has never lied in their entire life?
As long as they are solvent, they have a huge incentive to be cool with our money, and continue to improve security.

I'm calling shenanigans. Magicaltux clearly contacted the hacker in advance of this irc conversation and arranged to pay for him to move the coins to pretend he still has control.

I think he noticed the transfer first and then said he caused it.

Strength in numbers
But maybe it just means that MtGox IS the hacker!

Can we have a few (dozen) threads about that now?

33 is the signal of the Illuminati, 42 the signal of the Cult of Eris.

This is clear proof that MtGox is on our side!

MtGox was always on our side!

Why 42... is that supposed to mean something?

He was going to do 430k or something, but everyone seemed to like 42 more, as it is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything, as Valhalla1 noted.
