Looks good to me.  I guess it will need a special miner / wallet miner only due to the new algorithms?

Also, stupid question, but 12:00 UTC.  This is am or pm? 24 hr clock? lol.

This is going to be the most awesome coin and I am betting my render farm for it Smiley
I haven't looked at the whole thread so excuse me if this has already been asked. If this is CPU only what is there stopping botnets or institutions with thousands of computers from dominating the scene?

EDIT: Tried to watch the video; no sound. Works fine on youtube.  Huh

In the section 'Launch > IPO stakeholders' (on the Heavycoin web site) there is the following instruction:

"Procedure 2 investors should examine their records very careuflly and double check that their stakes and Heavycoin addresses are correct. You must report any mistakes to the Heavycoin developers before March 6th 00:00 UTC. Failure to do so could result in the loss of your IPO funds."

Now, how are we supposed to check the assigned Heavycoin addresses (as this is not something we generated)?

With the keygen tool you got a privatekey, a public key and an address. So yes, you can check it.

When I run genkeys.exe I can only generate a new address. How can I use it to check an existing address?

As explained in the IPO instructions, you should have saved your keypair.  This is what you need to confirm your public key and that you have the corresponding private key.

Quote
4. Save your Heavycoin Private Key, Public Key and Address in a very safe place.

If you have lost them, then you will need to generate a new keypair and send us the new public key and list of your IPO investment transactions.  We would then update the official IPO stakeholder list and you can confirm again.

HTH

OK so you don't need to do anything with genkeys.exe if you followed procedure 2? Just check that the balance and the address you gave us is correct?

I don't think 6th March is tight?!

It took me ~2 mins to check, double-check and triple-check that my invested amount and public key were listed and I had the corresponding private key.

Important IPO Update

We have compiled and published the official list of Heavycoin IPO stakeholders: https://heavycoin.github.io/ipo-stakeholders.html

If you are an IPO stakeholder, it is extremely important that you review this list to confirm that your investments are correctly listed there by March 6th 00:00 UTC (forum time).  In particular, please confirm that all of your investment transactions are present and, for each one, that following is correct.

  • Public Key
  • You have the corresponding Private Key (the one you saved in Step 4 of IPO procedure 1)
  • HVC Stake amount

Important: In order to keep messaging to a minimum and allow us to focus on the launch, we ask that you only PM us if there is a problem.

Warning: This step is absolutely critical for Procedure 1 stakeholders, as the genesis block is final.  If there's a mistake in your public key, the HVC stake amount or you have lost the corresponding private key, then the Heavycoin developers will be unable to fix it after the mining launch.  Procedure 1 stakeholders are in complete control of their IPO funds because they are the only ones with the corresponding private keys (the Heavycoin developers do not know the private keys).

Procedure 2 IPO stakeholders also must carefully examine their HVC stake amounts and Heavycoin addresses.  You should compare the Heavycoin address to the one we send back to you via PM.

Deadline: We need to receive any corrections as soon as possible, so we are setting a deadline of March 6th 00:00 UTC (forum time).

How to report problems: If you discover a problem with your details on the official Heavycoin IPO stakeholders list, then please PM keccak512 as soon as possible (set subject to "HVC IPO Problem"), so that we can correct it.

Some thoughts:  We are extremely satisfied with the outcome of the Heavycoin IPO.  We could not ask for a better distribution nor community!  With that in mind, the number of IPO investors has greatly exceeded our expectations.

Given the large number of stakeholders, we are concerned that some might not have adequate time for checking their IPO investments.  Simultaneuosly, this is an extremely important step due to the irreversibility of the genesis block.  Our goal is to have the best launch possible and it would not be a successful launch if some IPO stakeholders lost their investment because they did not have adequate time to confirm their details.  We understand that our deadline of March 6th 00:00 UTC (forum time) is very tight.  Therefore, we are open to suggestions from the community and, in particular IPO stakeholders, if you are not happy with the arrangement.  Please make your voice heard!

Other than that, Nomisugi and I have much work to do in preparation for the launch.  Stay tuned!

Yeah! We could call it something like "MemoryCoin", and give it the code "MMC"! Tongue

CPU power is cheap for them to give out, but RAM still costs them. If people want to rape cpu coins with vps nodes and instances make them pay the price and have to splash on the most RAM as possible.

Good point, maybe we should release a memory coin, crush all the bots and vps
