Yes, I also share the same sentiment as you, the higher level of inconsistency in Manchester united team is just too much for a team that wanted to play in Europe most prestigious competition, the uefa champions league,  so I really think they are going to struggle to qualify, because their is never a guarantee that Manchester united can maintain a winning streak and be expecting Aston villa and Tottenham Hotspur to drop point, because with their high level of inconsistency, it's more likely for them to drop point than the other teams just as @octradism has already said. So I think uefa Europa league is more likely than the uefa champions league.

I know this might be easy writing but, when you compare the games between these sides they're to play until the season comes to an end, you'd see that Manchester United has got a lesser dramatic games and fixtures ahead. Only if they can make good use of it and overtake Tottenham Hotspur.

Most of you'll wrote Manchester United off even before the game kicked off against Liverpool for that Fa Cup Competition. What was the result finally at the end of the game? I believe this would be the reviving force that would definitely back Erik Ten Hag. He has quality names back from Injury with no European games or fixtures to play, if they can take it week in week out, they'd definitely level up to the fourth position.
I have that believe they'd make it happen. Why no complains of Marcus Rashford not pressing, is he not the problem with Manchester United? If that was Cristiano Ronaldo, lots would have been said about the most consistent player over the last fifteen fauckin years.

Manchester United are not consistent with their own games, they can't go 5 straight games without losing a game. While they are waiting for Aston Villa and Tottenham to drop points, I can bet that Manchester United will be the first to drop points. Manchester United inconsistency in the earlier part of the season was the reason why they are still in this position. While they were losing Aston Villa and Tottenham were busy gathering points. It is really going to be difficult for Manchester United to overtake two teams who are determined to grab the champions league spot. But this is football anything can happen, but to be realistic it will be difficult for United to overtake Aston Villa in the top 4.

Assuming Manchester United can win the rest matches, there's no guarantee they will able to reach 4th position because if both Tottenham and Aston Villa are win streak, nothing will change.

I'm sure Manchester United able to reach at least 5th position, all of them will face Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City, the thing is Manchester United always has bigger chance to pull upsets than Aston Villa or Tottenham.

I don't expect to see a better performance from Manchester United. And I don't see the possibility that Erik Ten Hag will be able to strengthen this team. ten Hag has had enough time to strengthen the Manchester United squad. But I would say he failed completely. Based on their position in the premier league table, you will know that Manchester united have a long way to go before people will begin to see good performance from Manchester united, because it look like their manager is trying to improve the team in this season so that they will be able to display excellent next season.  Aston villa and Tottenham are strong teams, people are still looking up in this season but for Manchester united to take over 4th position and 5th position from those two teams, I think it will be difficult because they will try their possible best to maintain all those positions till the end of the tournament. If Manchester united can win all their matches, they will be able to reach 4th position but it will be difficult for Manchester united to defeat all their opponent in their remaining matches.

I realize that the cycle of football is getting faster and faster, and the patience of teams with their coaches is not as much as before. Purification happens faster and requires coaches to show immediate results, instead of building from the ground up gradually as before. Southgate is still in position with the England team, it is very hard for him to move to lead Mu.
 
I think the problem lies mostly in the midfield, not necessarily in the attack. Mu's midfield did not do a good job of connecting the defense and attack. Their midfielders are not in good form, especially Bruno Fernandes.

The most feasible goal to keep Ten Hag's seat is to help Mu win 5th place, thereby having the opportunity to participate in the Champion League next season. Chelsea owners and coaches have failed to build team well, they have sufficient resources but they cannot utilize them all to build strength like before when Chelsea was one of the strongest team.

Even club side coaches and fans don’t like the international breaks because of the injury issue it poses on players, a lot of players pick up injuries when they go for international duties and this in turn affects the performance of the team but since players are bound to represent their nations there is nothing that can be done to stop them from going to represent their country.

International friendlies are actually important to prepare the selected players against international competitions that will be coming up and also getting familiar with themselves and understanding one another and the coach’s strategies. Since players are selected from different leagues and different teams it will be difficult to prepare and play together under a short period and understand themselves well enough. International friendlies are more like pre season matches where the coach identifies and select the most in form players that suits his pattern best.

I have come to understand that footballers hardly have free time for themselves, their is no rest at all as there are schedules up and down especially for higher level footballers that will represent both club and country. Only injured players really have time to rest that why during most of these international friendlies key players are likely to be rest or play just a single half so they are not caught up with fatigue. These friendlies are very important and part of a players season and they are probably used to it already, all this is what make them a professional.

Aston Villa certainly won't be able to compete with the top 3 teams at the moment because they have a big point difference with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, but of course the top 3 teams will not fall to 4th place because the points difference is very different from Aston Villa.

Man United are not very lucky when it comes to managers after Alex Ferguson retired. They keep changing them every season or two with no visible effects.
Now the latest rumours are they are considering Gareth Southgate, but Ten Hag is almost guaranteed to keep his job until the end of the season.

There's clearly something wrong with United's attack, they've only scored 39 goals this season, which is very low for a club of their calibre (for Comparison, Arsenal has 70).

I do not like the international breaks too, but they are necessary. The friendly matches are not nonsense matches that have no meaning. You're right that they are no points or trophies for the team, but that's an opportunity for the team to build themselves and get better. A chance for the players to meet each other and create a relationship.
You don't expect them to play in their different club sides and just have a week or two training together and play an international tournament. The international break is the opportunity for the coach to select his squad and know the strengths.

You talk about playing friendlies in June or July. Isn't that the only time these players have to rest? And in years like this year, there will be no rest for a lot of them because of the Euros and Copa America. So when are they supposed to play the friendly matches that will prepare them for these tournaments?

Will you consider Erik Ten Hag to be a failure at Old Trafford? I don't think so because he's prominent and have passed through the tough moments in the dreadful terrible performance of Manchester United, he guided them to winning path and I hope they continue to make him proud than he's already is. Manchester United have quite tough upcoming EPL fixtures and they have to hold their ground because they've target this season, that's qualifying for the UEFA Champions League competition for next season, Erik Ten Hag will do anything and he have to deal with the present challenge.
