James King, a former Arsenal executive, is set to return to the club as director of football operations.

King left the Premier League club in May 2022 to join the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) as general counsel but is now set to go back to the Emirates Stadium to take up the position left by Richard Garlick

Garlick previously occupied the role, assisting on legal and contractual issues, before he stepped up to become managing director when longtime CEO Vinai Venkatesham departed at the end of last season.

King’s appointment has been in the works since the summer with Garlick offering support where necessary to get Arsenal through the transfer window.

King had been with Arsenal since 2016 where he worked on commercial deals for the legal team before moving to their football operations department in 2018.

Before his exit his most recent title at the club was senior legal counsel for football operations. He was also a member of the Football Association’s legal and governance group for women’s football.

King worked with Arsenal’s men’s, women’s and academy teams during his previous spell at the north London club.

Garlick joined Arsenal in 2021 from the Premier League where he spent three years in the role of director of football.

The Athletic revealed the news of Venkatesham’s exit after 14 years in September last year.

What will make a club that was getting bad results in the past 3 Premier League seasons start getting better results in football? If I am not mistaken, Chelsea has not been able to get this type of result in the Premier League in the past 3 seasons. Just because Chelsea is not topping the Premier League table or being among the top four teams in the Premier League table doesn't mean they are not performing better than the way they did in the Premier League in the last 3 seasons. This is the first season of Enzo Maresca as Chelsea coach, and from what he has done in Chelsea so far, it means he is doing great at Chelsea. Maybe from next season he can change Chelsea's style of play and make them play better football, but for now, Chelsea is playing better than their old ways in the last 3 Premier League seasons.

The focus is on Unai Emery's actual coaching because he knows what is needed in a club including the arrival of players and how to maximize the strengths of the players they have.
Aston Villa do not have players who can be used as a pedestal but that is precisely what makes their quality equal because they rely on other factors such as teamwork to make performance continue to rise and Emery is able to do that as a coach.

Aston villa progress has surprised me as they weren't good when the former managers was at the club but with the introduction of Unai Emery, Aston villa have become a team to not be underrated. I still don't think they can win small clubs the way they play against the big clubs and in the champions league. Something I noticed about some small club doing well in the premier league is that they get beaten by their pairs but challenges the big teams. Aston villa against Bournemouth mightn't end as we think as Bournemouth just won Arsenal and they'll be looking to keep their record clean by winning Aston villa and it isn't like they can't beat them as they can.

Arteta will of course try his best to win the league this season as well, but to be fair I wouldn't be shocked if they end up losing this season as well. They are not looking as strong as last two seasons if you ask me, and I believe they are working too hard on that top spot, they forget that it only happens when you have healthy players with not that many red cards. Right now, they have plenty of injured and also like he said there are red cards, which means they are missing some crucial players in some games.

This causes them to lose or draw in games they should be winning and because of this I believe we are going to see them not be happy with what they have, not really a shocking result at all and should be normal for them. I believe Liverpool is doing better than Arsenal right now, Slot has taken over the team very well and kept the good run going, and City is always great so they are going to be two teams which Arsenal will probably fail to reach to.

Actually, the season is quite young as they have only played 8 matches and still have about 30 matches before the season ends so it should be around week 20 that we will still be having more confidence with some teams that started very well now but it will still revolve around the three teams you mentioned because they are the only clubs with the squads to achieve the trophy this season. Aston Villa is occupying the 4th position in the league while Bournemouth is at 11th position and both teams won their last match in the league but since Aston Villa will be the host in the match I expect them to continue their decent performance by winning the game.

On the other hand I think Aston Villa will have fatigue issues after playing in the champions League against Bologna which they won 2:0 at home, Bournemouth may have a chance to get a draw in the game because of the home team not having enough time to rest.
