I think Guardiola has realized that so he also replaces Haaland quite often with another striker in the second half especially when the team is in an advantageous position.
That was Pep trying to keep Haaland as fit as possible for the next game. He basically needs Haaland on most of the game but he knows that sooner or later fatigue might kick in so regularly changing him on field is pretty much needed. Gotta be honest that in their current state, playing without Haaland is probably not going to work out perfectly well in their favour
Haaland is at the center of Guardiola's match strategy. So now if Haaland is injured then its bad effect will be seen in Manchester United's performance. But Guardiola is an experienced coach.
