The EFL Cup match, Liverpool - Leicester was very amusing to me. It was no different than a Premier League match actually. There was a high level competition between these teams. After seeing Liverpool's starting eleven, I thought that Leicester would be able to eliminate them. And they were really near doing it also. They brought the score to 3-1 at some point and took a deep breath. But Liverpool really made a great comeback in the last minute. And by the penalties, they managed to eliminate Leicester. But it was really a great match to me.

Do we have a dedicated thread for the cups or do we write in these ones? I see a lot of discussion regarding yesterday's games so I'll join here as well.

I felt Liverpool's team was really weak - there was no reason to start Koumetio instead of Konate. Konate needs games and Koumetio simply isn't anywhere near acceptable standard. Pair him with Bradley and Leicester was cruising - they could have scored 5 goals in the 1st half.

I loved the reaction after half-time though. Instant 3 substitutions, we dominated the game in a fantastic atmosphere and Minamino's goal was well deserved. I'm glad Kelleher managed to save 2 penalties as well - he should have reacted way better for their 1st and 3rd goals.

Arsenal in the semi, good 2 games coming.

They threw away two separate two-goal leads at Anfield on Wednesday to draw their League Cup quarter-final 3-3 with Klopp's Liverpool side, before going onto lose 5-4 on spot kicks.
The penalty shootout came off with a Liverpool 4-3 Leicester City scoreline with T. Minamino missing his shot for Liverpool while
L. Thomas and R. Bertrand missed their shots for Leicester City. It was very unfortunate what happened to Leicester City, after the platform for a win to have been laid in the early first half, scoring over 3 goals and then, they come to the second half, couldn't score even a gaol but instead, conceive 2 more goals that brought the game to a Liverpool 3-3 Leicester draw, earned an extra time and eventually, a penalty shootout where Leicester City got kicked out.

I don't think Chelsea will have an easy game hosting Tottenham Hotspur in the carabao cup, because Tottenham will be very anxious to win a trophy especially this one they have reach a semi final and they will be full of believe since they are being coach by Antonio Conte, that has won trophies wherever he has been to,and it will be interesting to see how the Chelsea fans will welcome their old boss,I think they will cheer him up with love.
Chelsea will have a tough time beating Tottenham. Although, is their home match, and of course Chelsea won't want to lose. I think it might end draw, or Chelsea will win with a goal difference. Tottenham have been doing quite impressive under the leadership of Antonio Conte, and am sure he will probably try his best in securing a trophy for the club. However, am looking forward to watch this match, because it will be very interesting.

The draw for that Carabao cup semifinals has been made. And Arsenal is to play Liverpool at the Emirates while Chelsea hosts Tottenham. Arsenal don't have any other chance of winning a trophy so might play their first team. Jurgen will prioritise the Premier League and Champions League and play a mixture of kids and substitutes. So, the result is a 50-50.
Chelsea vs Spurs will be a tough tie considering the fact that Conte wants to give Tottenham their first trophy but I reckon Cheslea are stronger and will make it to the final. Also it will down to which teams prioritise it, I can’t see Liverpool putting out a full strength team but I am sure that Arteta will play up at least 80% of his first team players. Again normally I wouldn’t expect Chelsea to win but with them drifting in the league they might decide to try and win this. It wouldn’t surprise me if it is an Arsenal vs Tottenham final to be honest.

What a performance by Liverpool and Leicester both tonight! After seeing that Leicester improved their advantage to 3-1, I considered it done for them. But Liverpool were having no intention to give up on this game and continued to fight back. They dropped the gap to one in the 68th minute. And in the last minute of the stoppage time, Minamino scored a life saving goal for them. And we went straight to the penalty shoot-outs. The competition was at a high level here also. And Liverpool managed to beat them by 5-4 after the penalties and advanced to the semi final round. But one thing is certain that this is one of the unforgettable games of this cup already now.

They made a good comeback after being trailed by 1-3 at the first half and finally they win the match with penalty shoot out. What a great spirit they shown. Its for sure an awesome as a modal for the next match in EPL when they have to meet Leeds United.
Liverpool made it clear the have all it takes to take up as many trophy's as possible in the English league including  caraboa  cup. Coming back to lead the game to a penalty shoot out after a first half 1-3 defeat utilizing the 68' and in the 90+5' an equalizer came through by Takumi Minamino ending the game in a 3-3 draw which lead to a penalty shoot out. Both team made the match an interesting.

As I expected, initially Liverpool didn't play 100% of the main players but after losing 1-3 at half time. Entering the second half Klopp replaced 3 players at once, Liverpool were still lucky to score a goal in the last minute of the match in normal time. At least in a tournament like this I only consider the composition of the players being played, because it's not a top priority so it's very possible for top teams to rule out a tournament like this by only playing second-tier players.

In fact I already expected a balanced game, while many punters here believed that Liverpool would win easily, but I would never have imagined that it could be a game as disputed as it was.
With two goals conceded in the first 11 minutes, I believed that all was lost and I just didn't change my bet because I still believed in a draw, I'm glad I didn't.
Minamino's goal in stoppage time was an explosion of emotion.
This is a bit misleading considering Liverpool used mostly kids and reserves in the 1st half. I think Leicester were expected to win with their attacking big guns playing. But instead Leicester blew their chances to advance to the semis with their shambolic defence. They threw away two separate two-goal leads at Anfield on Wednesday to draw their League Cup quarter-final 3-3 with Klopp's Liverpool side, before going onto lose 5-4 on spot kicks. I still don’t understand how Leicester let go of 2 goals margin and eventually lost by penalty. I was expecting Leicester city to make use of the absence of their first team players to win this game. But it now occurs to me that Rodgers has not yet addressed his defense this season.

Liverpool have a starting eleven which is much more different than I expected against Leicester now. As a result, Leicester are already making use of this advantage a lot. They scored two goals in the first fifteen minutes already and got 2-0 ahead. Liverpool managed to answer them by one goal not much time later. But it seems like Liverpool will have a really hard time in this game. And they seem to be likely to lose and be eliminated from the tournament if Klopp doesn't prefer their game changers in this game in the second half.
If you check the EPL schedule then you will understand why Klopp made quite a big change to the starting eleven in this match, in a week they will play 2 matches and there is no Christmas or New Year holiday unlike other big leagues such as Laliga, Bundesliga and Serie A they have a break for Christmas and also the new year, this is the reason why the coach must be smart to rotate his players. Liverpool squad finally made it to the semifinals after struggling hard in the second half and the penalty in this league cup.

Klopp has been more like a super coach and today, he championed the day. I seriously didn't see Liverpool making it to a draw and extra time in this encounter but, they successfully scored a 90minuye goal and stretched the game to a penalty shootout out and won. It was by far the match of the day, Liverpool scoring more goals as well as holding Leicester City from scoring any more goals.
It was a good comeback from Liverpool thanks to klopp who did some substitution at halftime thus changed the game and equalized to end the match in a draw and eventually won on penalties, Liverpool goalkeeper Kelleher was magnificent in his performance in the match, it was quite an exciting and entertaining match unfortunately Leceister City loss concentration with their delay tactics in the second half this might had probably affected them.
Liverpool showed their character and were able to win an unsuccessful match, while Leicester must be very insulting, because the chance to win the title was lost. No matter how Leicester fans might react to my words, it is still much more difficult for the club to achieve success and a title based on the results of the entire championship than to win the title in the cup, where there are much fewer matches and it is possible to level the superior level of the opponent in a separate match thanks to dedication and banal luck. Especially when there was a goal advantage and literally a few minutes were not enough to defeat such a status rival as Liverpool.

It was all very frustrating somehow for Chelsea today maybe because they weren't in fine form for the game or they probably used a wrong formation for the game and it almost became a problem.
Well, since the game of football is somehow unpredictable, Chelsea finally came up with a goal in the dying minutes and that was as a result of some misconduct from Brentford.
They had their final score at 0-2
I'm still wondering how their next match against Aston Villa will look like

Interestingly odds are between 2 - 3.5 for all matches that will be played today in EFL Cup. The favorite teams are without surprise Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs. As you mentioned Spurs and West Ham performance are close to each other so we might see a different result in this game.
West Ham wouldn't be an easy contender for spur even as conte Antonio is massively improving spurs performances. West Ham has been on their best keep up to 5th position on the table. It's barely few minutes to the start of match I hope west ham gets more easier for Tottenham has everyone is predicting
Everyone was waiting for Spurs - WHU to be the hardest but apparently Liverpool's one was the trickiest!
Brentford 0 - 2 Chelsea
Spurs 2 - 1 West Ham
Liverpool 3 - 3 Leicester and 5-4 after penalties. Liverpool was lucky to survive here with a late equalizer!
The results are quite cool. Just as you noted, many thought the battle will be between Spurs and Westham, rather Liecester gave the fight. It's a good one that Liecester has refused to be underatted even if the result wasn't in thier favour.
For Westham, I don't know if it is right to say that they are depreciating or should I wait for maybe 3 more matches?

Liverpool - Leeds... It is a really good game to start to the match week. There is a big power and performance difference between these teams now of course. This will lead to a big Liverpool victory probably too. Liverpool's last point loss has caused the gap between them and Manchester City to go up to three points. Liverpool wouldn't like to run the risk of letting it increase more.

That's an interesting sentiment - do keep in mind that Leeds is coming into this game after losing their last 3 games from teams in the top half of the league including - Chelsea, City and Arsenal. While I'm expecting Liverpool to take the 3 points at the end of the day but I always watchful for this Leeds team. They can be full of surprises. City thrashed them 7-0, Liverpool should be able to do around 3-4 goals without conceding any but let's see.
