Manchester United pre season matches not really impressive after win 2 of 4 matches and got two loss by Arsenal and Liverpool, its over for pre season match and this week Manchester United as the FA Cup winner will face Manchester City as the Premier League winner on FA Community Shield before Premier League match start. Still had consistent performance in pre season matches and loss several top players after getting injury, I don't sure Erik ten Hag has opportunity for defeating Manchester City although on last meet Manchester United success defeating Manchester City at FA Cup final match.
Manchester United have forget with bad result on pre season match after defeating by Liverpool and must focus for FA Community Shield match against Manchester City three days later although several key players on injured. Opening with Community Shield trophy will make Manchester United get more confidence before playing at Premier league matches.
Both Manchester City and Manchester United both had mediocre pre-season matches. they sometimes lose and sometimes win. But that's all because both of them only play second-tier players and young players. But in the Community Shield match, I think both teams will play with their full strengths. And I am sure Manchester City will win the match. I still doubt Manchester United. And again, we know that Hojlund, who is also an important player for Manchester United's attack line, is still injured. And it's likely that Hojlund will only return after the end of August. So Hojlund will definitely miss the match. Leny Yoro is a new player but he has shown a very good game at the back but he is also still injured and will probably return after the end of October. The point is that Manchester United may not be completely ready. Meanwhile, Manchester City is always ready.
Though I agree with you on the fact that both of them, I mean Manchester city and Manchester united both had a bad preseason, but it changes nothing, due to to following reasons you have already stated clearly, which is playing youth and feeders players, but I believe that most of the absent players will join up with the rest of the club this week, so it's definitely going to be a fascinating encounter between these two teams.
Secondly, I don't sees any team among them as favourite now, you know why? Due to the mixed form of both teams right now and couple with the fact that it's a derby game, I think it's unwise to rule any of them out, or seeing any of them as favourite, but one thing am quite sure of is that the game will be very intense no doubt because it's a derby game, and that bragging rights is very important to the fans mostly, so I believe that the both teams will definitely give their all comes Sunday.
Lastly, it's high time people stop seeing Manchester city as the favourite anytime they are up against the Manchester united, because I believe that it's always not as easy for them the way people makes it looks like, though it's very true that Manchester city is an exceptional team, but when they are up against Manchester united, it's a different ball game altogether, so people should take not of that.
