Gavin was a dev and he had thousands of BTC most likely. If he didn't give the BTC away with his faucet, Bitcoin awareness might of never caught on and wouldn't be where it is today.

No doubt about it, I'm always surprised by the friendly community around BTC, giving tips and explaining to the new people how to mine or how to make paper wallets... 2013, good times, the times of e-btc trollbox, and the time to be goxed.

How does he feels now? I still feel bad for selling 2 BTC at 220 dollars in 2013...
Almost all of the early users have sold their coins at a very low valuation and it is not a big surprise, looking now it was a foolish move but i never expected the price to soar this much in this short duration, i have sold many coins when the price was really low and i have lost many coins because i gambled them, i do not have any regrets because i still have some coins.

Back then the first exchange was called Liberty Reserve or something like that. You coisl buy bitcoins with your PayPal and the rate was, I kid you not
1500 USD/BTC
Basically 1500 BTC per $1 US dollar and Gavin said it was overpriced.
Liberty Reserve was not a cryptocurrency exchange, it was a centralized digital currency payment processor.

what adaseb said and also this screenshot belongs to a faucet created by Gavin Andresen back in 2010 and it was giving away 5 fixed bitcoins per IP per day. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/get-5-free-bitcoins-from-freebitcoinsappspotcom-183 not 1

Back then they were no exchanges. Only way to get some was someone sending it to you, faucet or mining for like a day or 2 with your CPU to find a block.

You cannot currently generate deposit addresses due to a networking issue. We should have this resolved soon, if you made a deposit it will automatically credit afterwards.

Thanks

I think the issue on the deposit address generator has been resolved as I am now be able to view my deposit address. And as per support, "If you wish to deposit, feel free to do so, and in case your deposit is not credited, you would need to wait for a bit." Best of luck rollers!

Where is my ring of blades...
I think anyone who’s a serious gambler, doesn’t need to use faucets.
Only to test the website before depositing, but test currencies take care of that just fine..

Sometime when serious gamblers are out of funds but they want to gamble then they will use faucet, it is still needed as faucet is not only for testing purpose but also a reward for active players. Indeed, not all gamblers are willing to use faucet as some of them may think that it is just wasting time for nothing but still it is a good reward and they can win good amount from the faucet as well if they are lucky enough.

I think the reason why casinos use faucets instead of "demo or play" money for testing out the site has 2 purposes.

The Bitcoin faucet was created back in 2009/2010 and it was a way for people to try out Bitcoin as a currency. Back then a faucet gave you 1 BTC per day per IP. All you needed to do was reboot your internet router and get a new IP and you would get another 1 BTC, but it wasn't worth it since BTC was worthless back then.

The second reason is to get the user hooked since he is playing with real money instead of demo money. So if by some miracle he wins, he will feel like he "is a professional gambler" and will deposit real money and lose it all. It's a psychological thing.
You are wrong, freebitco was giving away 1 btc totally, you could receive 0.00001btc or etc, it was depended on number of users who solved captcha. So it wasn't 1 bitcoin per user.
And no, second reason is that (at least what I have heared from Baryom) faucet grows on levels and old (ranked) players can feel free to give a try to faucets sometimes, they won't be blocked but they mustn't abuse it too.
He is not talking about freebitco. Oldest faucet was giving away 5 btc per user.

It was giving UP TO 5btc .

And in reality nobody ever got even close to that.
Bullshit micro.

you people are talking about 3 different things here!

and it has nothing to do with abuses, gambling sites, ... it was too early for anyone to even know what bitcoin is, let alone want to go to all the trouble to claim a lot of it. you could basically mine more in the time you were wasting to claim that faucet back in 2010!

the thing about freebitco.in is that their faucet have always worked with number 200 meaning their top prize was $200 which meant nearly 1 whole bitcoin back in 2015ish if you could hit the number 10000 which has been impossible for ever! that was the highest (impossible) reward like any other faucet out there not the regular claim.

Primedice is one of the most trusted site and if you are going to accuse something, you need to provide some proof rather than telling that they are faking the stats

If they provide access to site data-base(they don't). such that one can find the fake users who always bump the site total wagers. (no proof but fact).

how do you think a gambling site would run, with government money. Tongue I am not commenting on his trust gaining strategy

if site lets users to invest and uses any trusted third-party Random Number Generator ( where site/owner don't have direct access to seeds ) then it could be a perfect system.
so they cannot fake site wager. and cannot create fake winnings Cheesy Grin Grin

Primedice stats are super fake. since site is run by private investors. (one of the stake mod{Thug} told me this one). Edward (Trust-begger) he himself deposit coins and do some wager to pump it and create unwanted Hype(i cannot prove this but this what actually happen at PD) .

I do not think that every big whale is really need that faucet thing and I believe they do not even claimed it too. It is just a reward for them to hit the achievement. They always use big money to gamble and why do they need faucet to gamble? I do not find any good reason for them to gamble using those. You can see most of the big site that have huge whale will bet min 0.01 btc, I never saw they bet ower than that
The faucet is simply for new users to check out the site and the rest of the users actually do not need a faucet, i rarely used the faucet in the past few years and i use only when i bust everything, some have the knack to make use of the faucet facility by multiplying it and i have seen many people trying out their luck with success, with the price of bitcoin rising i do not think that they will continue with faucets for long.

This is true somehow but yet many of them creating new account just to abuse the faucet, more over we are talking about big whale as well so there is no way they will abuse it even they out of cash there. Faucet money is really small if you compare their min bet there. It has too much gap between the faucet and their bet so there is no way they could use some faucet

Since the launch of our new version of PD the endpoint used by dicesites.com hasn't been publicly disclosed/created. We'll sort this out with NLNico shortly.

I'm using Avira VPN Phatom Pro. Unfortunately, their server was used for spam earlier and it was in the black list.

I succesfully used https://www.tunnelbear.com/ long time ago. It offers 500mb free per month to try the service.
VyprVPN is also great, but I never trid it with Primedice. I used it to access to other countries Steam stores (even when Valve can recognize a lot of VPNs)
