This thread turned out more great than I expected. Thank you all so much. Indeed, mining is a drug addiction.

Heat, power issues, tripping breakers and having the police show up because the power company thinks you are growing weed.

the mental pressure to wake up early in the morning to:

1) check that all your miners are up and haven't crashed overnight due to you trying to squeak 1 extra h/s out...
2) check the price of Eth hasn't gone back to $9 overnight   Shocked

I do both at 5:45am every morning  Grin

In the issue of always wanting to expand.

I started a month and a half ago with a rig out of my main computer. I'm up to 3 full rigs, a dedicated room for mining. Took a door off the wall to make a dedicated intake vent, put holes in the wall for exhaust. Ran new electric for 20 amp receptacles.

All in a month, and I want more.

My credit card doesn't though.

Looking to build more rigs.
Wasting time to look for alternate parts.
Day dreaming.
Heat and dust is going to be part of your life.
Big one for me(live in an apartment), it gets messy. Wife is away for a few weeks so figured why not play with a 4U server case. I got parts all over the living room.
Loving every moment of it. Can't stop buying parts....

There's something you should know.
This mining business is like drugs.
You get addicted to it.
Even when you have nice profits, when you could just withdraw the money and have a good time,

NO!

I have to build more rigs!
And you just keep buying stuff and end up having the god damn rigs all over the place.
The heat would probably be enough to get a 2 story appartment building through the winter.
The power company doesn't understand why you need such powerfull brakers.
The cops think you have a massive Ganja farm inside your house.
The wife doesn't understand why we can't use a great portion of the house.

But you just keep on building more rigs!

Mining rigs > Not even once.

I had a solution regarding the wife, just built her a rig. problem solved!

Pretty soon I'm going to have these things hanging from the ceiling... hey that might really be an idea! ... but as I type this out, I realize that heat travels upwards and a ceiling mounted rig would be a bad idea...

Self note: no ceiling mounted rigs.

What kind of problems miners face after they start running the rig?

Is there any list?

1. Lack of cash because you just spent it all (unless you spent crypto, then lack of crypto)
2. Power and Cooling to keep the rig running stable
3. Time it takes to squeeze the most out of the rig if you're going to Bios mod
4. The extreme amount of patience #3 requires, oh and did I mention the amount of time? It's worth mentioning again.
5. General impatience or discomfort in waiting for your rig to pay for itself.
6. Indecision regarding what coins you want to mine or if you just want to point it at a site like Nicehash and get paid in BTC.

IMHO, power is lower on the list because everything should be designed with a 20% tolerance for reliability/safety... if you have to go over that, upgrade...

And lastly;  the biggest for a lot;  dev's abandoning coins, or market prices tanking.  Those are heartbreakers for some.

heat

power

dust

in that order

dust is really starting to anoy me though i need to install a dust filter over my exhuast window

You mean intake window (since it is taking outside air to inside)? On that note, think that might be a bad idea, unless you change that filter regularly. Think of a dryer lent trap, eventually it'll get clogged up and restrict airflow.

intake in the cooler months and i flip it to exhuast in the warmer months when the outside temps are higher than inside.  oh i see you u remove it completely and just deal with the dust

i use this one, never installed the vents on it though

That's pretty much the stint of it.  Any other issues are related to quality of hardware, or how hard you run the cards and if you wnt to do anything past stock card settings.
