If you spent more time outside of the Off-topic spam section and more time making well thought-out posts in normal parts of the forum, you wouldn't have to worry about merits or activity. You started out posting a little bit in Bitcoin Discussion and then you gave up on that. Even the one merit you received was not merit-worthy and I assume that CryptopreneurBrainboss only gave it to you to try and motivate you to do better and because you are part of the same local, but didn't work out either.

Honestly and no offend To you OP, you must help your self to improve and reach what other already achieved if you are still spamming posting Off topic and in bounties for sure you will not grow even 5 years from now. Like Pmalek said above cryptopreneurBrainboss gave you 1 merit for motivation purpose but you are not worthy enough to be given. But you are not just late you can still improve and reach high rank and get more merits if you learn and upgrades your posting style to more creative.

The reason you are still a Jr. is that you don't read the forum although you joined more than a year ago. You aren't spending your time here to learn and contribute. Rank and merit are related to each other, on the other hand, merit and contribution are related to each others. So spend more time here, learn and contribute. Then your rank would upgrade automatically.
I once said that I wasn't a very active user in the first year of signing up for an account. I spent a lot of time off the forum learning the trade and a few other things, but the days got better once I got back into the forum and started studying hard. Consistency and willingness to contribute has brought me to this point and I'm glad that today I learned so much about forum, bitcoin and more.

I admit that investing more time in studying will never be wasted. That's a good start for everyone who is successful now because I believe we are basically not educated people about bitcoin and everything on this forum. So the conclusion is, study harder and don't complain.

Mine is over a year and I am still a Newbie.
Before the question...

Let me hastily add here – you should devout more time here if you want to grow your account speedily. Make more posts here aimed at contributing meaningfully to forum discussions and it will amaze you how easily you'll rise through the ranks. There will be users who will splash merits on your posts and then get used to your moniker. That familiarity will make them want to often revisit your profile to read from you. So, get busy.

I have observed that some members on the platform have up to 3,000+ Merits and some have just none. Meanwhile some are in a particular rank for a long time. Mine is over a year and I am still a Newbie.

The question is,

Does getting to a new membership Rank dependent on Merits, or they are just two independent awards?
In Bounty you may not easily get caught in plagiarism but Trust me here you can get caught.
So be careful of your posting, getting merit is not a child play at all. So you gat work your ass to get the quality post for that merit.

getting new membership rank depend on both Merit and Activity, you already earned 1 Merit which qualifies you to become a junior member, but you are lacking in Activity.
This shows you've not been actively posting since over the one year you signed up on the forum, So for you to ascend to your next rank, you have to post/contribute more to the discussions on the forum to earn the required Activity level.
And also start making quality posts, and also make them in the relevant sections of the forum so you can stand a better chance at earning merits  which together with Activity, will ensure the growth of your account both in rank and reputation.

OP when I came across at your post history it seems that you are a bounty hunter and only creating low quality post which is only applying in bounty campaigns. And as of 1 year in the forum you posted only 25 post which very far from other forum user here  who give an effort and put a quality of their post and when the time passed by they rank up to the next level. Some of them when they are 1 year they manage to rank up to full member or even senior member.

I'm more surprised you have 1 Merit, which is more than you deserve considering most of your posts are literally the same low effort copy/pasting:

OP, you have been a member of this forum for a very long time, a year or more, and until now you have not been interested in this question.
Why have you become interested in this question now?
It seems that until now you have been active exclusively as a bounty hunter and that you were not interested in participating in some other topics on this forum.
Have you decided to change your career and become more active in other parts of the forum?  Grin
If so, I advise you to focus on the quality of your posts and think about how you can contribute to the community on the forum.
Merit and advancement on the forum will come naturally, based on your work and efforts.

Rank and merits are totally different, you need to meet two criteria to rank up the first one is activity for that you just need to keep posting and the activity point raises by 14 for every two weeks then the next one is merits which is an appreciation or reward or anything you can call it will be given by others for your post and most probably you will get them when your posts are somewhat informative or add something to the discussion. For more please read the sticky thread out there...

Well, it should not be a surprise to me because I have seen someone registered in 2018 yet he is still a newbie. personally you know yourself what happened that your are still a newbie. I also have seen a user registered on the month of May, 2022 and the user now is a member. I believe what you came here to do will also determine your rank up.

_You are participating in a bounty for writing articles. Feel free to transfer your skills to this forum. I don't know how lucky you are, but the facts show that you can write something.

Increase your activity and be sure your ranks are already waiting for you. You have already left your comfort zone, that is, the bounty section. Now you should look around and get acquainted with all the life on the forum.
I have not been in that part of the forum so I dont even know what is happening there. I dont even know where is bounty in this forum. I tried to find it to check the activities that go on there but all efforts were null and void.
Does it mean the Bounty articles does not reflect here? Because the OP registered since March, 2021 and if he was writing on Bounty site. The activities would have reflect. I dont know that is why I am confused.

judging by your post history I am not surprised, it seems that you are not that active, you are also a bounty hunter. bounty hunters mostly post bounty reports that do not get merits. if you want to get merit I suggest starting participating in discussions outside the altcoin board.

The question is,

you also need activity in order to rank up, right now you have 1 merit on your account but you only have 24 activities, if you reach 30 activities you will rank up to Jr. Member. OmegaStarScream shared some links where you can learn more about ranks and merits I suggest reading that thread.

OP, you've been on the site for over a year and don't know about the merit system? I'm very surprised. Usually, we see the opposite picture: newcomers are most aware of the merits and rules of the forum.
Apparently and i fee as well that this thread is best suited for the beginners and help board so, I'll kindly suggest OP thus moves it there.
With regards to what you've said at his thread being the direct opposite of what we see often on the forum, I think OP is just trolling and I have this to prove that.

The #Merit topic is very interesting. When I was brand-new member, I scalled through other members and discovered they were either Jnr or Snr members, while others were Members and Legendary, some Hero, I felt like I was really brandnew and intimidated by such two stars, three and four to five stars members. You know what? I comforted myself! I thought that when I start posting and as my days on the platform increases, I will be a Jnr member one day. Never knew my post has to be quality to attract merit and that merit too could influence my rank, or possibly not.

Till now, I am a Newbie with 22 posts and just 1 merit.

Please how do I know that I am making a quality post because I need to start posting high quality posts, get merits and leave Newbie zone.
The statement in board letters gives me the impression that, OP is very much aware of the Profile rank and Merit relationship as OP has titled this thread.

Mean while, its always surprising to see users quickly adopt to instructions and follow up perfectly in the bounty section of the form but somehow, can understand the other aspects of the forum that is basically expression of thoughts. Anyway, its good your back to doing actual forum participation, avoid plagiarism and be you in all you do.

Since March 2021 that you have been registered as one of the forum members, you did not know merit system and ranking.
Uh huh.  This looks like a few other threads I've seen about merit created by members who've been here long enough to know what the system is and how it works.  In fact, I remember posting something in the last of such threads that kind of applies to this one (except the post history check, which I haven't done in OP's case):

I checked your post history and the only other post I could see besides the one you made here is when you voted in the community awards thread.  Plus your post count is very low in general for someone who registered in 2020.  I have no idea why you're just now asking about how to earn merits, but a general rule is that the more posts you make the better your odds are at earning merits.

Take note of my suggestion of increasing your post count, OP.  It's really hard to earn merits when you've only made 24 posts in 16 months.

That's assuming this is your only account, which I seriously doubt.

Oh, then there's that.

If you prefer to rank up, you will need to have quality posts, by so doing, your post will be given merit, in every 2 merits you received, you will have 1 smerits which you will be able to send to any other person's post, but which should be of quality as well.
While some spammers can also wait for the pizza celebration day and the annual voting event to earn some accolades from users for their minimal efforts on this forum towards rankings. The behavior has increased year by year and if you check their post history then I bet you will have a hard time finding quality posts.

Those are some of the things that some spammers are starting to like for merit, but regarding rankings then I'm sure the average of them won't make it even after all these years. It all depends on the quality of each user's posts, and if they can meet those requirements then nothing will restrict them from ranking them unless they don't post much.

There are answers above for you but I'd like to help you another tip
  • If you visit a board and have question(s) for things in that board, let's scroll up and see sticky threads at top. You will find most important information, rules for that board.
  • A collective thread on sticky threads [Bitcointalk sticky threads] Newbies - read before starting. That thread was last updated 2 years ago so make sure you do first tip always.

Looking over your posting history (see https://ninjastic.space/user/AsongJosh), you’ve made posts on multiple weeks in the past without reaching the maximum (14) that count towards the Activity counter in past 2 week Activity windows. That means that you can catch-up on past Activity on-the-fly now by simply posting, without having to wait for the current Activity 2 week windows to close. This is not easy to grasp, but you should be able to reach Jr. Member as soon as you make another 6 posts (ideally more substantial than to date).

From there on you’ll rank-up at a slower pace, once you meet the requirements of both Merits and Activity shown in the links provided by @OmegaStarScream.

All the information you need is available in the sticky threads at the top of this board, was it really necessary to start a new thread about this?

BTW, you asked the same question a few minutes ago in another thread. I really wish I could demerit you for this.

You need both merit and activity in order to rank up. Read these topics[1][2] for a better understanding. So in your case and since you already have 1 merit, you will just need to gain more activity (30 total) to become a Junior member.
