Crypto space is so weird when it comes to new projects, you can't predict which one is legit or which one is not a scam projects, high rated projects do turn scam as well and you will see low rated projects doing fine, the problem with coinmarketcap is they only care about how much they make, apart from checking the market cap nothing more so just make sure you do your own research on any projects on CMC
Indeed, well maybe its a bit laborious to search to make sure but isn't that better than to feel remorse about your decision? seeing those scam projects before and until now makes me realize that we shouldn't feel bad about having some trust issues because it can help us to be a great observer when it comes to projects that we are willing to join. It helps us to be more cautious and attentive considering the fact that scammers are always looking for some ways to deceive us.

There are many fake projects that find their way to coinmarketcap, just because they are listed on Coinmarketcap doesn't mean they are good projects, i wish coinmarketcap care more about its reputation like binance exchange do but they don't

Mate, they do list advertisement on their site and it's not possible for anyone to check if the project is real or fake nowadays as there are many projects which finds it's way to coinmarketcap but then turns out to be a scam. Those days are gone when it was easy to identify scam as some project starts well and then when they are on a good pace they just dump it. We need to be more cautious and use CMC just to check the price, exchanges and the volume of a particular coin or exchange.

actually, earn money is more important than than the other side. i dont know they make research first or just take the money first (i hope if they make a research first before doing adv), but just because of their good reputation doesnt meant it will have bad effect to them, people can lose their trust to cm because of this
people never lose their trust to CMC just because of this issue. advertisement is a way to earn money, CMC doesnt care wether adverstiser become scam or not, all cmc care is just money
people understand this site is for providing cryptocurrency data to be consider crypto user, so it is just possible to lose the trust when it doesnt give good data anymore

For now, if they still really strict about project that want to use their service, maybe they will be hard to get it. Because actually scams or not for now really hard to decide, people will say scam when they lose in their investment, but actually it is their choice. Usually scam is used by people who steal someone's money and then go away with it. But for ICO, investors is not forced to buy and all risk is give to investors.

The problem about scam projects is you will never know they are scam unless they are rushed projects, coinmarketcap is all about coins and their market cap in ranks, do not expect coinmarketcap to tell you that a coin is better than the other, that's not what they are made for

If these sites just go for some verification before promoting these scams, it would be very good for the visitors. Verification can include Mobile verification, Identity verification etc. These sites are an open image of crypto, if these sites just reduce their earned money by a bit and plan for long term then it would be beneficial for all of us.
Although CMC has taken a precautionary measure, it is still possible to encounter such advertising elsewhere. So instead of believing in each of their ads, why not do research? I know this is a trap for those who are not familiar with this sphere, but there are new ones who are aware of the danger of these traps. Or once s/he is trapped, s/he will take her/his first lesson, and we will surely meet her/him in this forum. To avoid this, do not just believe in every advertising games, you should do your own research.

the increasing number of ico scams is due to the absence of supervision at the beginning of making tokens or ico. even anyone can make it, and even for those without money. it makes the opportunity for people to raise funds from the scam project even greater and then they run away with all the money without thinking of investors who have helped their funds from the start and also the bounty hunters who help promote their projects. actually it is not only money that controls the world, but also ingenuity can make this world feel unfair. we need to be more vigilant friend.

CMC is one of the most trusted site when checking market volume. I don't even give attention to their advertisements. And if a project catches my attention I still do my homework before investing or helping them promote their project. This site has their own business to keep, so it is not solely their fault why such scam project gain attention. Investors has their share of supporting scam project because they do not review project before investing.

They only advertise projects that are willing to pay more than others, if you have an ICO project then you are willing to pay fees as they wish then your project advertisement will be displayed on their site. I think that is normal, they are also looking for money.

that's their business only advertises if paid means we must be really careful in choosing projects even though a large web that advertises the project, because it does not guarantee that the project is good

Going back to 2017 scam ICO launchings, one thing for sure, sites like Coin Market Cap have played a very big role in promoting those scams. Yes they did it because they want money but one thing they should realize that this thing would lead to distrust of new people in crypto which would ultimately also close their shop as well.

Coin Market Cap takes a huge amount of money from those scammers.
When i contacted CMC, i got this email.

Coinmarketcap only promote for many ICOs pay with higher amount, they look not care about how trusted an ICOs project, so far payment is running based on their schedule, Coinmarket cap always promote with many ICOs project, I got many ICOs promote on coinmarketcap always failed and have lower price after listing, ever coinmarketcap promote with ICOs without continue for listing after ICOs ended.

There are a number of ads on CMC and I think it will be very difficult for scammers to do that, I am worried that it is not an ad with a new project or altcoin display, but a list of new altcoins that are very numerous but do not have trading volume, because at this time the conditions for altcoin can be listed there is only with 3 lists of crypto exchanges where altcoin is traded.
It is difficult to prevent scammers, but we can be careful about the decisions we make

This is a fairly complex problem. Everything forms a circle that is interrelated and becomes complicated. Lay people, potential investors, and traders sometimes use similar websites to get consideration from the project they will support. Providers of advertising services only provide space, regardless of whether it is fake or not, sometimes is ignored, as long as the advertiser pays according to the agreement. One lesson from here, we must really do an independent analysis, dwyor.

yes that's right I think before receiving an ad from the ICO who will advertise, it's better to verify first so that those who see the ad and are interested in the ICO are safe from fraudsters.

if you don't verify that a site (CMC) will get a bad reputation, but I think CMC is not an easy advertising platform for fraudsters.

There could be another logic, people can't trust even Bitcoin. Where total coinmarketcap was approximately 1 trillion now only ¼ trillion. All investor was worried to lose money then ultimate results market crash. Scam projects isn't only reason. I lose my trust from CMC after random coin listed.

I ideally this supposed to be the normal procedure for the inzerest of every cryptocurrencies enthusiast but in the industry I observed almost everyone is in for the purpose of making profits not just profits but huge one. On the other hand to the little research I carried out may people do fall victim of scam simply because of their greedy mentality sorry if am wrong here but thats what I learn through some research thanks.
