Because they thought we are mining they have block our nodes. Nice..  Undecided

No.

Looks like Morblius's explanation worked. They're going to migrate me to Dallas.

Tell them you are not mining, just running a node. Explain that after the nodes are fully synced, they don't use much resources on the VPS.

We got problems with WLS guys. I've been requesting a change of servers for that bum LA node and this is the response I got:

Per our AUP, we do not allow mining, and this was made clear to you in our AUP which you agreed to before signing up for services with us.

Thanks,

Did they block 8333 connections? Why LA server is dead?

Last week I added three bitcoin network nodes and the process was EASY! I just opened an account with weloveservers.net (WLS), added each server, and got redditor Morblius to set them up the nodes for me.

I am sure now that this server has problem and dont accept connection and for that my node is dead. I dont know why but one day just happen and it cant accept connections anymore. As i said i have do a clean install and a clean new setup but with no luck and the problem continues. I ask them to transfer my server from LA to germany but they told that germany server is full and i have to wait. My node is officially dead Sad

Yeah I have a bum LA node too.

Thanks for clearing that up. I new I wasn't missing out on the party!

A full node is just someone running the bitcoin client 24x7 right ??
not dissing your service, sounds like a great deal... just trying to confirm I know what it is that the service provides.

Yes, and opening port 8333 on router to make sure you can accept incoming connections.

Donation sent!  Thank you Morblias for doing this.

Awesome, thanks! I got another VPS purchased, but they are under maintenance at that location right now. After that is done, I will get another node up and running there! Thanks again!

Just an idea, if you change the hostname of every vps you install a bitcoin node in it you could search and list all of them in https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/, for example here they are all the bitcoin nodes that have "ovh.net" in his hostname (https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/nodes/1403281800/?q=ovh.net)

The hostname does not have to be valid (pointing to the vps ip), you can create fake ones like 0001.bitcoin.full.node0002.bitcoin.full.node and so.

So clicking to this link would list all of them (the ones that are online): https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/nodes/1403281800/?q=bitcoin.full.node

Is it possible to run a P2Pool or at least a node on Google App engine ?

p.s. Google App engine supports Java, Python, PHP & Go.

Appengine is a different animal from Amazon aws or a regular hosting service.  appengine does not allow you to run everything.  It is not a vm-like box, but it gives you several benefits in other areas for those tradeoff.

I used to run some of my non-DB apps on app engine and they work like charm. As app engine supports Python, I would like to know if we can setup BitcoinD on this platform. App engine does not specifically say anywhere that they wont allow Bitcoin client to run on their platform. I need to know if it is technically possible and if Morblias can do that...

I have done once again all the steps to setup the node but unfortunately after the last reboot the node start and after a while stops to accept connections. If i type top i see that bitcoind run but here

https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/

i see that my server is off
When i type

bitcoind getinfo

the command line stuck and nonthing returns. I try to reinstall bitcoind, to erase /.bitcoin folder but with no luck. Can i setup a node without anything else to that server? If i do a new clean install with only bitcoin installed what else i have to setup to run a node? I dont care about the website or anything else. I care only to run a node.
Thank you

By any chance are you running a weloveservers node in Orlando? There have been a couple of people that had problems with that area's nodes that had to file tickets with them to move their VPS to a new location.

Also, if you just want to install bitcoind with nothing else, no web UI or anything, just use this command:

Code:
wget -O btcNode.sh https://raw.github.com/XertroV/BitcoinAutoNode/master/bitcoinAutoNode.sh ; sudo bash btcNode.sh

You can go here to see everything it does: https://raw.github.com/XertroV/BitcoinAutoNode/master/bitcoinAutoNode.sh

I think i run the server in LA if i remember. Can i change the location? Do i have to ask them to change it? If yes i will try to transfer it to germany servers.
