The Chinese would be much more concerned than the Russians. The Russo-Korean border is only a few kilometers long, and I don't think that the NATO will install bases anyway near that narrow strip of land. On the other hand, the Sino-Korean border runs through three strategically important provinces of China.

Indeed, China would be quite upset to find that the US and SK armies started building bases next to their borders.
Only a few kilometers long you said. Well for example the Isthmus of Perekop was also only a few kilometres wide, Mannstein however somehow managed to push through a fairly big army on it, and Vladivostok not much farther from the NK border than Sevastopol was from Perekop. So I don't think the Russians would be happy bunnies.

Remember the Korean war of the 1950s? There could be a repetition of this. The Chinese will provide the manpower and the Russians will provide equipment for the North Koreans. The Americans will fight it out for many years, before pulling out with heavy casualty figures.

If North Korea is able to transport their military back to the mid 19th century they could take over several countries.

There would be only one nation that would remotely resemble NK's situation... and that is israel.

With the exception that israel doesnt blackmail their neighbourhood with a nuclear holocaust, let their citizens starve or put hundred thousands of civilians in nazi germany style KZ's.

Except if those citizens of theirs happened to be palestinians and living at the Gaza strip or the West bank. Otherwise Israel didn't blackmail their neighbourhood with a nuclear holocaust indeed...err...maybe with a few exceptions... like Lebanon ('82), Iraq ('91, '01-'03), Iran (ongoing) Wink.

Please dont troll yourself.

Palestina/Gaza: so people there are starving, getting tortured, killed and have to do forced labour? Last time i checked the jews are even giving finacial aid. Even though there are a lot of problems it would be delusional to say palestinians are living in a big german style KZ.

Nuclear weapons: israel had several wars since 67 and they didnt even once used the nuclear option.
They dont blackmail adversaries with the bomb because that would go against their doctrine of nuclear ambiguity and from different international intelligence and .gov sources we know that israel will only use the nuclear option if:

1. Israels military defense gets penetrated and the enemy is walking towards cities.
2. Israels airforce is destroyed.
3. Usage of biological and chemical weapons against israel.
4. Usage of nuclear weapons against israel.

Israel doesnt shoot missiles every 3 months in direction of their arab neighbours.

Ps: can you please pull some sources for israels public threat of using nuclear bombs?  I cant find anything about it.
Or do you mean the preemptive strikes against iraqs (conventional attack) and irans (cyber attack) nuclear reactors.

Really?  You're going to compare Israel to NK?

Lol...

The bragging, arrogant rhetoric of NK is really like nothing else in the world today, perhaps with the exception of ISIS or Iran.

I'm not comparing Israel to NK. Actually Criptix brought it up, I just fixed a few historical inaccuracies.

You might want to add the US to that list of countries with "bragging, arrogant rhetoric"... Wink

The happy end would be a unification of north and south.

Unlikely. Neither the Chinese nor the Russians would be extremely happy with a close ally of the States on their doorstep instead of the current heavily fortified buffer zone.

I do not agree. During the first war in North Korea could trigger a mass Exodus of civilians and cause of the migrant crisis. In the second, the first target of an American attack are silos of nuclear missiles. The radioactive cloud could carry out the wind on the Russian territory.

The refugees will be heading towards China. The ethnic Korean minority in China is almost 2 million strong. The Russian provinces neighboring North Korea doesn't have the infrastructure to house so many people, and the culture and ethos are much different.

It is much better to have a well-developed and predictable country such as South Korea on its border than impoverished country led by an unpredictable idiot.

That would be the deal: Korea gets unification and the yankees are going home.

What if the unification would be pursued by North Korea instead of South Korea?

Sounds like a bunch of the same info that they give with countries that really only have a large standing army and that's really it with them. A country like NK is someone that is going to have some of the oldest military techs in the book, its stuff that was created when the Cold War was still happening and was probably supplied by the Chinese and the Soviets at that point.

Just cause they do all these crazy drills means they actually have anything. Lets just say they have a nuclear warhead, the US could shoot that down in seconds and then wipe NK off the map with a small portion of all the nukes that the US has.

Our military tech is probably 100000x times better than anything the North Koreans could even imagine.

We don't need any published data to acknowledge that the North Korean Armed Forces is very powerful. They have a strength of more than 4 million personal, and are armed with advanced weaponry. Trump will be really stupid, if he want a direct war with the DPRK.
The same was once said of Saddam Hussein. Where is he now? And could still live if not put itself above God. The same fate awaits Kim Jong-UN.

Nope. Saddam had limited options at his disposal. He was supported only by the Sunni Arabs, who constituted for less than 20% of the Iraqi population. His armed forces couldn't expand to more than half a million personal. Also, his army was well short of quality equipment, as unlike the North Koreans, the military technology in Iraq wasn't very advanced.

Cannon fodder won't help. The Americans will destroy targets from afar. When they destroy all the infrastructure, the army will surrender itself. You forget how they fled Saddam's army. The main thing that Trump doesn't.

Read up. The North Koreans are fucking psychos who would probably fight until the very last kitten. There is no parallel with anything Middle Eastern. The entire country is an engine for war.

They're constantly finding new invasion tunnels dug into South Korea. The countryside will be riddled with hides and bunkers. Even if there's no more command there would still be guerrilla fighting everywhere.

They may be tiny and have crap weapons but they're fuelled by pure, burning hatred.

Too bad that fight wouldn't last that long, they may be war ready but their equipment is far from good for modern times. and if the war breaks out, they'd be in a rough position with enemy from all sides. Well you don't know how many of them would desert and surrender when they get the first chance.
