So correct me if i have misunderstood, but this is basically a crowdsourced torrent site in where you have to pay if you want a specific torrent uploaded?

My question is: why would anyone pay for a torrent upload? Whole point of pirated content is that it is free.

Free Speech is the most important thing.
Loving the 2/3 escrow and milestones to have the funds released. This shows the guys behind PureVids mean business and it will be developed as advertised. I will be in for 75% of what I can afford..

That is actually a nice touch compared to these shitbags who raise the full amount and then take ages to develop anything.

No promise of investment but I am looking closer into this project and I must say it looks like a big opportunity.

I dont agree they are the name you called them but i am involved in may projects where the devs are taking their times and have gone beyond the time period that i invested on. I wonder if there will be penalties if that happens here?

Pretty much every project I have been involved in just take the money and take their sweet time delivering what they promised.
Like you said though and we all know, they have to reach the milestones to release funds. All sales should be run like this, clearly not just a money grab.

I will keep an eye on this for the next beta and see what films we can watch and what is the quality of the. I am a movie freak at heart so this is right up my street, especially being able to pay bounties to people to get the movie and quality I want. Think of all them people that upload for free, when they find out they can upload and get paid this will blow and become very popular even by just word of mouth.

I thought we can put in a bounty for a movie.  Huh Is that not going to happen this weekend?  Huh  thats why I want to put up the bounty of vidz.  Sad

Did the bounty thing plan change Thats how its supposed to work from the post 01.

Until the ico ends users will not have their own VIDZ with which to place manual bounties. During the entire beta period of the site (from this weekend until the full 1.0 launch) there is a global bounty set from our dev fund of 1KK VIDZ. Everything submitted and approved during that time entitles you to a portion of those coins.

For example lets say there are 10,000 items are submitted during that time and you submitted 10 of them, you are entitled to 1000 of the global bounty (1/1000 of the 1KK coins).

So you mean you'll be offering two sites, one on tor and one on the regular internet?
Huh

The onion domain is simply a backup for those who cannot access the main one for whatever reason or need to use torbrowser due to the situation in their country. Obviously torbrowser is not going to be quick enough to reliably stream with so users would only be using that route to access magnet links and the search engine on our site. Consider it a stripped down 'text only' version of the website for them to access.

How exactly you are keeping this site open and not having an ugly lawsuit? The site is not decentralized? Right?
Getting free money from pirated stuff (i am assuming that's the goal, since we are not going to compete with youtube and vimeo), is kind of slap in the face of copyright owners.
Even piratebay was silent about any money being involved.

During launch the website will be semi-decentralized. This means that the database and web host will be spread across multiple servers in multiple countries and we will be randomly routing users between them using the purevidz.net portal page. We've discussed at length both in the OP and throughout the thread our legal status and our plans moving forward in regards to redundancy. Here is the major points that have been discussed so far.

-Our service and our business model is not illegal in our region.
-The server does not host any copyright materials of any kind making any legal action difficult at best
-Our servers/backup hosts will be spread across numerous countries where American copyright law does not apply making them very difficult to interfere with
-The entire website can be made decentralized through the same technology the streams are using: Latest version of site can be live torrented to populate the website content, magnet link to access that torrent pulled from blockchain.

The reason the 'centralized' server exists to start with is because it makes the load time for the site much lower. The back end content of the site will be automatically backed up using decentralized methods. Regardless of any attempts to interfere with the main site, domains being seized or servers being confiscated the site will continue to run with little to no downtime.

Yes sports streaming will be possible or what is the point, it should have everything.
Now will it be a premium service to watch the sports streams is another matter, dev?

Live streaming is not part of our site design. It is a theoretical possibility but is not something that we plan for our service to cover unless the technology improves significantly.

a good idea, agree with you

Who do you agree with, one of the hundred of posters of this thread or the dev team?

Will pure vidz have any live sports streams?

This interests me also. especially the boxing nights. I am pretty sure we could set bounty and that the hunters will make it happen.

The premium service sound like a good idea to make money but not great for people who want to watch sports streaming for free.

I have not read anywhere the need to pay for sports so don't get hung up on that until you know whats up for sure.

Some guy on the vTorrent thread keeps attacking me. I figured it was best to address his concern with a quote from the dev.

Hopefully he'll leave me alone soon.

Dude is probably scared of competition and since PV is the new kid on the block.  He should just do what I do whenever I feel uneasy I just take a nice smooth ride in my corvette.

Driving around town is actually a calmer for me to unless its traffic, that's unpleasent just wish I could do it like you in a Corvette. I'll have to settle for the family man Volvo wagon.

Did I miss something. Is this going to be a tor network site? I was under the assumption that this was at purevidz.net and not a ,onion site.

No it will not be a tor network site. For those in areas with very strict internet filtering we will offer a .onion domain so that they can still access an archive of our website and its magnet links. With that data they can still use whatever torrent client they prefer to download the torrents in a traditional manner. It's simply a fallback and is not intended as a main feature of our project.

Excuse my ignorance but what on earth if a fake seeder and how can they destroy pure vidz.

He is discussing issues with a different project, not ours.

So you mean you'll be offering two sites, one on tor and one on the regular internet?

I want to watch War Dogs the movie. Can I watch it on your site and if so when.

The second demo of the site will be online this weekend and will be open for new content to be submitted. Hopefully someone in the thread sees your request and gets it submitted so you can check it out Smiley,

Two probably stupid (maybe not) unrelated questions:

1. How you could ensure the videos will continue to be available? I mean - one of the biggest problems with torrents is to how to make (force) users to continue seeding the content after they downloaded it. Many peoplke just get it, view and delete, without caring on others, so more or less rare content could end up abandoned, with no seeds. Will this project address this issue?

2. Are there (or were there before) any bonuses for early investors, or the ICO price is plain, regardless of the time of investment? Also - could you please assure there will be no unexpected "late investor bonus" at the end of ICO, like it was done by some other ICO campigns lately?

I dont think your questions are stupid. I think it helps others who know less about this stuff when old timers like you ask good questions.

Just wondering what ico's added a late investor bonus without prior notice. Personally that sounds like a scam and I'd like to let them know of my opinion.

1. We will be looking to bring in as many members of existing torrent communities to submit their content to our site. By having the seeds and leachers spread not only among all the users of our site but also across dozens of other torrent websites it drastically increases the global availability of files.

In the case of a torrents seed ratio dropping to an unreliable level there will be a few steps to resolve it. First, users may report video playback issues with any item on the site. If a high enough percentage of those who access the file report an issue it will trigger an automated review of the torrent to check the health of the torrent. Torrents below a certain health will be included in an 'endangered' RSS feed which can be used to automatically trigger seeding fo the file by anyone willing to donate bandwidth/storage space to the project. As part of our public API phase of development we will be releasing easily configurable software which will automate this process for anyone who wishes to help the stability of the project in the long term.

If a file becomes unavailable for long periods of time it will be removed from recommendations and flagged as inactive. These results can still be found in our database with specific searches but will open up the file for a new copy to be submitted. If bounties are placed this means that re-submitting the torrent can result in a new payout but due to the review process, it is not possible to submit and then immediately stop seeding a file. During the review process the torrent health is checked and must meet a certain threshold to be approved.

2. There will not be any early/late investors bonuses. We feel that all investments should be handled on equal ground and so no special bonuses will be offered. We will be offering a number of bounty campaigns including a global bounty for all materials submitted to the site during the beta period but that is unrelated to how the ICO coins are distributed.

Will pure vidz have any live sports streams?

Live streams are not part of our initial goals but are something the technology technically does allow for. Depending on the success of the site we will definitely be launching experimental p2p livestreaming services. I've done some internal tests and our technology doesn't do it quite smoothly enough for us to justify including it in the first versions of the site.

From a user standpoint, live encoding and submission of a ongoing show/event is much more complicated and is not a level of technical knowledge we expect of our users.

But what happens if it fails or the devs go silent after they got some of the money, will the rest be refunded equally?

We only receive funding as we reach milestones. In the highly unlikely event that every member of our dev team became died all at the same time that would leave the remaining funds in control of the 2 escrows and it would be up to them how to proceed.

The chance of every member of our team having a tragic accident at the same time without passing leadership to anyone else to complete funding goals is not statistically significant.

Never ending parties are what Im into.
I have a few alts I'd send in should they accept more than BTC.
You could always use shapeshift or exchange them to BTC.

Not making the milestones of course makes me think what happens with the btcs? I mean lets say the coin goes live and first milestones are reached.
Devs get 50% of the ICO funds, but now something happens after the coin has had a little pump and many original ICO investors sold, probably at profit.
But 50% needs refunding to ICO investors, who gets the refund because the guys can go back and buy their original coins cheaper and get a refund?
I could be missing something and lets hope they want the remainding btc and it never comes to that.
If there is a refund, everyone gets a refund. If the coin goes live upon reaching the minimum milestone (>50 BTC), the project will continue.

But what happens if it fails or the devs go silent after they got some of the money, will the rest be refunded equally?
