AltCoins are raising money using IEO or Initial Exchange Offering. It started out good, but since we have 100s of exchanges and all of them have started launching IEOs, it's starting to get messy like ICOs. What do you guys think?

Personally, I am a big supporter of crowd-funding as a source of startup capital as long as its done responsibly. I invest on Start Engine and Republic and I see crappy project on those platforms too. I just wish the Exchanges will do some due diligence before launching an IEO.

For now, i really do not trust the intention of IEO until time tells, i feel this idea was just created to take advantage of the market situation to professionally gather money from people, if not, why are the exchanges the ones gathering these funds on behalf of the developers.
You can’t really be sure of this, because the IEO idea came in the mid of ICO scam, rather than leaving the ICO market to die and lose investors which will affect the cryptocurrency market generally, someone had to come with the idea of protecting the interest of the investors, and created a system just like escrow.

So after they have promised to do due diligent on these exchanges, they have no choice than to collect the funds on their behalf, so that at least they can take responsibility and the investor can be sure that the money will be channeled to the right course, they might have their fees, but that would just be the little reward for their services.

I feel like IEO is just a right step forward but I think the perfect combination will be SEO which I know the word will be confused with "search engine optimization" which is quite common in digital marketing world but its not like that.

Now, we all remember ICO which is initial coin offering and people basically offered their newly minted coins to public and got funding for furthering that project, which is awesome option but it was used by scammers to create fake coins and get peoples money. Then we had security token offering which was a bit more real because it was registered by the creators and basically all the info needed in case of a scam was there, creators put their necks on the line by saying "if we scam you, you can sue us".

Right away, we have IEO which is initial exchange offering which is basically ICO but on exchange itself. I just want SEO which will be Security Exchange Offering where it will be like STO but will be on exchange itself which will make sure everything is perfectly ready for us before we invest.

I think that initial exchange offering is a great method to provide investors a sort of trust into an upcoming token sale. Investors will invest more money into any project if they know that within a short period of time this token is going to be listed on top 5 crypto currencies exchange.

As long as IEO is on the big exchange, I do not think it might be a problem. In terms of being non-scam and profitable. As you said, every exchanges have begun to offer IEO today, and we do not know which one to believe.

Obviously not same as btc as the likelihood of trading at those exchanges exists unlike some ICO's that raise a lot of funds an never get listed and do not return investors fund, I think that the exchanges will equally do their due diligence in helping protect investors from buying crappy coins in the name of IEO's in order to protect their reputation.

Due diligences search before investing is the answer to avoiding scam projects be it ICO or IEO because the success of every project depends on the team behind it. We have lots of scam exchanges with fake trading volumes as we also have fake ICO team with false premises and White paper but if you really do a good underground check you can easily detect scam projects.

To be safe its better to join IEOs from popular exchanges only ,new or not too old exchanges that are joining IEO path could easily turned scam because we all know how huge funds from IEO projects are

IEO is a good thing to avoid scam projects but many exchanges just launching without any research about the project make this against a good startegy to scam people so people again need to take responsibility while investing on a projects.

I think in my point of view, IEO has no difference to ICO were in the end, it can be a tools for the scammer.
Although, for now its really trend and most of the community believed in it also. But if they find out the project is only under by the ico
they would feel doubt about it compared to IEO.
That is people for you, many people want to do the same thing others are doing without knowing how to handle it properly, the moment Binance came up with their first IEO project and other exchanges saw the response to it, they felt it would be an opportunity for them too, but they end up not having the right strategy to really operate and control it, and in the end, scammers takes over their exchange.

For now, only Binance and Bitfinex IEO can really be trusted, as those ones don’t just take shit projects and register for IEO, this is the main factor behind their IEO getting sold out a soon as it touches their exchange.

I think IEOs are a bit more safer than ICOs if join on trust exchange, but i can't guarantee that a profit will come or something will happen after they reach exchange, because if their is no demand for a coin the price can't grow.

This question became the famous question of the last months. IEO is now in our lives. Thanks to Binance, IEOs can now be experiencing the golden age. IEOs are same with ICOs guaranteed to be listed, I think.

I think IEO is sold on the exchange that supports the certain token. It is better since it brings publicity to users that uses that exchange, more sales than directly buying to the contract person. The hard thing here is, it is hard to convince some exchanges to support your token through IEO. So, the team should make a good connection between exchanges.

#SWGT PRE-SALE IS LIVE
Same as ICO for real.
This will be a place of scammers again, we need real projects with real companies.
Like startups that are already existing that needs to be funded for their further business.

Maybe with increasing exchanges taking part in the IEO it is a big confusion for everyone or investors where most people are afraid of the previous ICO with fraud appearing everywhere, therefore choose clearer exchanges and what projects they develop might giving a little peace by seeing the first big exchange, I admit that this is a very good innovation to anticipate the shortcomings of ICO itself, let's support the really good ones because most projects aren't all bad or dangerous.

I think bitcoiners cannot worry about ieos
Because icos has done more exploit than ieos and it’s not even in the same level yet

Bitcoin stands out universally; let’s respect thatb
I do consider your opinion valid, but considering the status of bitcoin, it was already been established, and comparing it to an IEO in the market which is just way right in the beginning of their career isn't appropriate or matched to bitcoin. Well, we can see whether a coin would be successful with their form of launching through these ICO process.

it was really bad for eth miners like me.
my cost is 200 dollar per eth. but eth is 160 dollar.
because of this ieo's, eth' s demand diminish. so value of eth dropped significantly.

now a lot of exchange become a crowdfunding platform with their IEO
maybe the main advantages from IEO, is only the project will be tradeable soon when the IEO finish
about project development, its depends with their team too
so, for long term investments, choose the right project and do not follow the hype without knowing the project deeply

yes you are right, the only advantage is that when the IEO is finished the coin will be immediately traded in the castle without waiting anymore. the rest is the same as ICO. development that will be a benchmark of whether the coin will last or not in the future. I am personally interested in IEO but even so I don't want to invest there. there are still many things I have to learn before investing in the IEO. I don't want to fail like last year, because I believed too much in the ICO.

Pretty much the same as ICOs. They sold empty products/promises with easier access to a pump and dump scheme. Do not get me wrong, I am not saying all of ICOs/IEOs are crap, but the majority of them are.

You should do your own research / due diligence before buying any of that stuff.

I agree with you completely. All these projects are launched for the sake of quick money and in order to attract a large number of users to the exchange.
