One Question. Is it possible to change some settings over Wattman for all cards in the rig, or have i change every card seperatly?

Greetings Willi

Could I use this card with 1x - 16x powered usb riser?
Or only 16x16? or directly to the MB?

You can use this card with 1x - 16x powered usb riser. It is better to use the powered rises if the x16 also has extra power.

If power consumption isn't an issue whats the highest speed that these can run at? 29 MH/s ?

i saw a 30-32, but it was on linux, with modded bios

Yeah I saw that also but didn't see anyone else get the same numbers.

How much will the aftermarket cards with 8 pin connectors change the RX 480 game?

The GTX 1060 is low on stock and inflated in price, meanwhile the 8 pin cards are nearer here. I may be back on the 480 wagon again or wait around for the 470 or just fork it out for the 1070.

What I gathered is that you want Linux to get the custom bios going for 28 MH/s at 120 watts from the wall. This is a noob question but is this custom bios simply unable to run on Windows or is it perfectly able to run on windows, play games, use VR, but just fails at mining?

I am getting my first 6 RX 480 in the next few days. Would you recommend i go solo mining or pool mining?

6x RX 480 can give you around $150 to 160 MH/s. It is too small to go to solo mining. It is better to use a pool.

What would be a decent size for solo mining?

3-4 gig imo

Which pool would you suggest? I am migrating from ASIC to GPU so still fairly fresh.

If you have more than 1GH/s, you can use http://ethpool.org/, if less, you can use  ethermine, they are both good.

Anyone run Sapphire RX 480?? I heard the HEATEXCHANGE is not that great.. shall i fork out the 15% premium for ASUS??

They are the same cards, the only difference is the sticker for the brand. So buy the cheapest card to mine.

They are all based on the same reference architecture.  Only difference you get is a different sticker that say Asus or Sapphire (PowerColor have the nicest logo holygram).   Dont waste money.  Also the RX480 likes to stay in the 83-89C range regardless of my office at ambient of 76 or garage at 100F, even though it's fully capable of dropping it's temp way below 70C just by increasing fan speed to 60% or higher.  If you want it to run cooler set fan to manual or change via Wattman on what range you want it to be.  I have all of the different brands for the RX480.  The only 1 that I don't have is the Overclocked XFX version as I only have the regular XFX RX480.  I wouldn't worry about the card overheating, the FAN is super strong at pushing the heat out.
