If pirate pays out, it would mean there is some legitimate business you can do with Bitcoin that earns 10% a week. That's awesome, and will increase interest in Bitcoin a lot! Also, the people that get paid out are all hoarders anyway.

Compound Interest motherfucker, do you understand it?

No, he doesn't. But in his defense, most people probably don't.

"further drop" is starting to take its damn sweet time

I, for one, am more than a little surprised at the resiliency of this 10ish level...

I am not yet surprised by it because of the pirate debacle has yet to fully unfold.
If he pays everyone back, even if only a percentage, that is a flood of bitcoins going
back to people. If 10% decide to sell right away.. well that is going to drive us below
9 in my opinion.

There are multiply reports of relative large amounts of fiat moving into exchanges with goal to pick up some cheap coins in case of potential price shocks due to the pirate debacle.

Have you got any references?

Alright, i know, this is "THE" speculation section, however what worries me is that an increasing number of people here are pulling "something" out of their pants in an attempt to spread, false information?
...just saying Vlad, not pointing fingers...

Some evidence of some sort (watch the up spike in cumulated funds in the order book):

Look at the order book here.  Almost $3m to $15 (233,000 BTCs).  That's incredible.

hiVe, just people hinting it in forum here and there, I cannot be bothered to start looking for the links for ya, sorry. It is plausible anyway. This is what I would do if I was a trading type.

Now think a bit what would happen if those price shocks either do not happen or are too mild to satisfy all the waiting fiat. Now consider all the difficulties related to fiat withdrawals from some exchanges.

Are you following? Not yet? Here is a tip: have a look the this threads name.

exactly my thinking. I'm not sure, though... it seems the fiat (if our assumption is correct and fiat flowed to the exchanges) is still waiting or at least equalling the selling pressure for now.

EDIT: probably takes more time, people still hoping for another drop (which is not out of the question).

@ pro rally: This light wight announcement of some dev (not core dev!) today may also justify a higher price, also unrelated to current short term Pirate Week.

I'm confused by the first sentence in that

Ok, you are right. The formulation can be misinterpreted. Its the announcement of code written by some developer of the bitcoin code that makes (if it would be implemented) the download of the 3 GB blockchain obsolete and therefore the Standard Client a light wight client. In contrast to existing solutions like Electrum txs could still be validated and users would not have to rely on miners for that. This is (as I understand it) a ready to implement solution to the long searched for blockchain pruning problem. Correct me where Im wrong!

I thought it was for blockchain pruning are you saying the old client will become obsolete and one must use this one that prunes the blockchain?!

Im positive we will enter a half day rally shortly, maybe up to 11-12$, because it seems payouts are delayed by at least that much time (see IRC). Also the possibility of Pirate not paying out at all just increased. Just to let you know.

yep from 99.95% to 99.995%  Wink

As far as I'm concerned by the following link pirate has already defaulted with one investor, Bitlane.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/hey-pirate-its-mondaywhere-are-my-bitcoins-102079

A delay is not necessarily equal default, but it is telling.

Yeah but with pirate's perfect record so far its really telling....he has never been this late.

He is just being consistent so far with expected ponzi modus operandi. But we are offtopic here, we'd better stop it. Anyway give it just a few days and everyone will know what it is.

Which part of paying in full on time as agreed does it fail?
