Here we go with another thread asking about this, and people are giving the same
answers over and over.  This is tiresome and the answer to ranking up really needs
to be stickied in bright bold red letters on the front page of meta, where this
question gets asked the most.  These threads should also be moved to beginners &
help.

It's also annoying that so many newbies are so concerned with rank here.  I've never
seen this attitude on another forum (and I know why.  It's because they're so anxious
to start spamming for money).

I suspect the answer would be to reduce activity by one every time you ask when your activity will update, or if you post a reply that is a copy of a previous reply . Smiley

Hmmm, makes sense. If you only post one comment a day, you'll stop being a newbie after one month.

Yeah, it's sad what this forum has become and incredibly frustrating that nothing is really being done about it. I can literally see the forum getting worse every day as more and more shitposters tell their friends they can earn money here. The majority of people who sign up here are kids from South-east Asia who can barely speak English and they don't just sign up on one account. There's no money in that. To earn a living you need multipe accounts if not dozens. And of course they just regurgitate the same one or two sentences over and over.  Some people even have their entire family posting away. I've seen people boast about how their wives and mothers and kids are earning good money now. Of course 9/10 of them can't speak English very well and have no genuine knowledge or interest in bitcoin other than they can earn money from crapcoin campaigns here and crapcoin campaigns will certainly pay them. They don't care as long as they have their signature smeared all over the forum.

There has to be some solution to this right? Isn't it possible to force rules onto signature campaigns? Maybe impose the rule of having full members and above only. That would force spammers to wait for a long time before they can grow their accounts up, and if word of mouth spreads in regards to making money, people who aren't enthusiastic about cyrpto will just drop out because it'll take too much time to get to those ranks. Or maybe there can be a new type of moderator on these forums that have rule over those that are in signature campaigns and monitor threads to boot those who spam. Having one campaign manager to handle about 50 people who are posting is pretty strenuous.

So, is activity measured daily?

No. It's measured fortnightly. You only need to make at least one post in each fortnightly period to be able to collect that activity.

The activity of your account updates every two weeks since the date you first created your account. But, it will not update if you are not posting atleast 2 post per 2 weeks in the forum.

None of this is correct. Activity periods are fixed and do not start when you sign up. They're the same for everyone. And as I stated above, you only need to make one post every two weeks. Wink

my account registered in 2014 with 96 posts but inactive, is it will get to full member by posting 24 posts now.

When you actually registered is irrelevant. If you don't make at least one post in an activity period then you will lose that activity forever, so you will have to wait and post in two more periods before you will become a Full Member.

*Noob alert* If I posted once a day, how long would it take to become jn member?

You will need 30 activity to become a Junior Member, so 30 posts over three activity periods which will be about a month. You can work it out exactly by checking the activity period start dates on the spreadsheet here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/til-activity-does-not-work-on-precisely-2-week-intervals-interval-timings-582736

Your current rank will be updated according to your activity number:
30: jr member
60: member
120: ...
Because every two weeks you only get a maximum of 14 activity so you have no way to increase the maximum 14 so it is necessary to be patient and post more quality posts than spam to increase post and activity. For a healthy forum  Angry Angry
30 to J member, If as you say, must have 42 day (1 post per day ) to get full update rank?

THis whole rank thing is very confusing. Why you cant just delete ranks and tell all that they are newbies. This forum is great tho. I don't even have bitcoins but I still love to read this. Thanks for creators of this site.

Your activity updates every two weeks. Your rank updates after you reach certain thresholds of activity.

The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Rough summary of what this means: If you post once per day on average, then you will eventually get the maximum number of activity points that you can get. Posting more than once per day on average is useless for increasing activity. The maximum number of activity points you can get is 1 per day, but your activity score only updates every two weeks. Therefore, it will take about 100 days to get 100 activity if you post once per day on average.

Activity is updated every hour.

For more information on ranks: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/forum-rankspositionsbadges-what-do-those-shiny-coins-under-my-name-mean-178608

This one best explains it. You have to take note that maximum of 14 activities is being recognized in 2 weeks. If you post more than 14, it will not count as activity. With that, as you can observe the rank does not only depends if you post much. It's also about patience and time. But everything will be worth it. Especially when you reach high ranks and join signature campaigns. The pay outs are high.

I see your point but I've been in some other sm forums as well and I'm used to that activity count equals message count almost instantly and that's it. (Of course they have no need to slow ranking up when there is no money involved.) So I can see that someone can genuinely be confused about this system here even if I see clearly why it exists.
