He didn't rape her, there was no kind of penetration. He was accused of sexual assault as he didn't fuck her.
Then they were both completely drunk and multiple people testified she was completely consensual leaving with him.
For the next part all we know is that they don't remember a thing (even the girl) and that he didn't penetrate her.

Some Japanese guy was in school in Paris when he tricked a female student into coming over to his apartment where he got her to read a book at his kitchen table.

He then pulled out a rifle and shot her in the back of the head.

He said she kept reading for quite a while afterwards even though she was clearly dead.
he then went on to write in his book all the details about how there was a huge amount of blood on the floor where he proceeded to try and eat her buttocks by biting her as she lay dead naked and face down in the blood.

and he fumbled with his suitcase in front of people then ran away.. leaving the suitcase behind.

It was not too long before he was caught and jailed.
After a while the French Police sent him back to Japan.
Japan received him and set him free with no charges or any court case.

He did not even receive a mental assessment from the Japanese authorities.
He mentioned in the below video clip that he wished he had mental help but was never given any since the murder.

So they set him 100% free

The real strength of government is in the common law. If the injured person brings a claim of harm or damage in Federal Court with a jury required, the guy will be judged by the jury.

Look it up in CORPUS JURIS SECUNDUM vol 25 section 344 - the famous law encyclopedia. Federal or U.S. courts are courts of record. This means that the "fight" is between the claimant, the wrongdoer, and the jury. The judge has no authority for anything other than to be referee. Not even the words of an attorney hold any meaning other than advisory. Government is restrained from interfering, by law.

You guys are being too unrealistic, he is free, and the government will make sure things stay that way because he is a rich white male.

Rape is wrong. Is it illegal?

If the rapist was not charged correctly, he might have been sentenced and served time, in a way that he could come back against those who sentenced him. The judge might have been protecting himself and the legal system by freeing the guy.

With all the knowledge about common law coming back into the open, the legal system needs to be careful how they do things. The particulars of this case won't be known until we read the case paperwork. If the judicial system did something wrong in its prosecution of the case, the rapist might be able to come back on the judge with a due-process case against the judge.

The guy can't be tried again for the same crime, but the victim can file a claim in court in a different way, and make it worse on the guy by ordering a jury trial. If the guy is truly guilty, the jury might give him 20 years.

Btw, the jury can override anything the judge does. Look it up. It is called jury nullification. When you look it up, it may not be given the strength that it legally has by the publication wherein you look it up. So, research it deeply.

They should have sentenced him for 20 years at least. It is a worse crime than murder. When you kill a person, he or she doesn't experience anything bad later (cuz they die.). But rape victims deal with psychological effects with the rest of their life.

Btw I have no idea or interest in the specific of the case but the girl could have lied... It wouldn't be the first time that a woman lies about a rape... It's an easy tool for them to use without much penalty if found lying.
