who among you here heard bitcoin back in 2009 and 2010? I was one of the people who is very skeptical about it and I really regret it. Sad I missed the best opportunity for a lifetime.
Dude you would be a multimillionaire by now. I wish I'd heard about it then.

Unlikely, bunch of people that were here in 2009/2010,
* lost their Bitcoin carelessly because they thought it was not worth much eg. thrown away harddrives
* sold very early on in 2011 when Bitcoin crossed $1 and went up to $32

Is there really anyone who bought in 2009/2010 that hasn't sold/lost majority of their original holdings? I guess Roger Ver would be the most obvious one, but I think he also sold a significant portion of his holdings for fiat.

I guess you aren't the only one in this regret business over not accepting Bitcoin far back in 2009/2010. There are many more your ilks here. But you folks got to move on
Unfortunately I feel agree with your answer. No matter how regretted we are too late to realize the potential of bitcoin in the past it will not change the state and reverse time into that period and we better start accepting it instead of regretting the past.

You missed the boat with bitcoin, most of us did, now is the time to buy bitcoin since it is going to go very high in the near future but if you want to try your luck you can invest in a new altcoin and try to get  similar results to the ones that you could have gotten with bitcoin if you had invested back in the day.
Yeah, a lot of people regret about that opportunity, if we invest in that moment, maybe now we have become wealthy. At present, the opportunity for us to become rich with bitcoin is not high but it is still possible if we invest in the altcoin market, this is where we can make more bitcoin. However it is very dangerous, we should careful

You do not need to invest in coins with very low market cap and that are very new to get good earnings in the future, investing in LTC the little brother of bitcoin may be enough to become rich in the future if you invest a significant amount of money there and hold for a very long time.

Well you do not have to cry about it anymore. You now have another opportunity to buy at very low prices with the new Bitcoin called Bcash! The price is slightly below $200 now but it will soon reach the 2009/2010 price levels soon.

But on a more serious note. Does anyone here think BitcoinCash will survive? I have not dumped mine yet.

Fine thread. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Buy low, sell high, it seems so simple but most investors still don't seem to get it :-) An interesting website I found:  https://www.coincheckup.com The site is my go to place for  crypto investment analaysis and indepth coin research.  See:  https://www.coincheckup.com/coins/Bitcoin#analysis For the Bitcoin Investment research.

I do remember someone spam my email talking about bitcoin, but the thing is it sounded as another ponzi then something real, i just deleted those anyway, if i regret well yes and no, because no one could predict bitcoin future, even if i had read and make some tests i could had collected some free coins as well done some deal with it, anyway im here and i wont loose any more opportunities over bitcoin.
Based on the generation today, it is hard to believe on the things that just came random to us like the spam email about bitcoin, if i were you i will not believe also because it is like a scam online multi-level marketing but the wrong move that you have done right there is, you did not verify or find some confirmation about bitcoin to clarify if it is a real scam, ponzi or a legit opportunity.

As for me I became aware of Bitcoin late 2016. No regrets because I keyed in almost immediately. Then price was around $900 or so.

On Bitcoincash, how does one get it out of the Electrum wallet without incurring any security danger? I ask this because my coins are in an Electrum wallet.

I first heard of Bitcoin while sitting at my desk at work in 2011(before the first bubble). I was reading a Yahoo article about the Silk Road. The Silk Road and law enforcement's inability to stop people buying drugs etc was the focus of the article, they spoke about Bitcoin like "tokens". When I read that this new internet money could not be controlled by the government I immediately saw the value of Bitcoin and went on google or yahoo search to see how I could buy some. I even called over a co-worker to show them the article and said "this thing could be huge! we should buy some". We searched the web and there were no results on buying Bitcoin. Unfortunately the article did not talk about how to get Bitcoin by "mining".

I decided to search the internet for more information about buying Bitcoin when I got home after work. I remember searching for how to buy bitcoin that afternoon and finding nothing. I really don't remember getting results on Bitcoin at all back then. Maybe I did but I remember searching and being frustrated that I could not find anything regarding with how to buy them (More recently I used google search and searched the 2011 period for "bitcoin" it shows results found but I really don't remember getting any at the time). After a while I forgot about it. Funny enough I think if I was not working back then I would have taken more time to search for it and could have probably come across this website or an exchange. This is one of the downfalls of being on a mind numbing job, you hardly have anytime to go and learn new things. Somethings are just not meant to be I guess.  Tongue

Somehow, I really like people who admit their mistakes in the past, just like you did.
Since the first time I knew about bitcoin, my heart so interested about this technology, maybe because its price already higher than in 2009-2010.
But, I don't know, if I knew bitcoin since 2009, would I believe it? whether I would invest $1000 to retire in the future? I am not sure about it.

YOur regretable earns nothing. Now you have to move on with new coins that have the same future with bitcoin. You can make analysis what coin is going to have higher price in the next year or two years. Make investment on it. Now I invest in eth and waves. I think they are going to have higher price in next one or two years. Your regrets should change the way your thinking. Crypto is growing, it is the time to invest now.

I first heard about BTC in 2010. Didn't mine. Didn't buy.
Could've retired by now if I had invested $10k.

Most people in the world can't dream of investing $10k into something, let alone one risky new asset class (non-diversified). That was true back in 2010 and it's true today. First world problems, I guess.

Damn. You know, I live in the first world, and $10k investing funds seems like it would take me years to save up.

I have regrets but not because I had heard about btc back in 2009 or 2010 but because of not having heard about it then. If I had even a little knowledge that something like bitcoin existed at that time I would certainly have got involved into it and by now I'd be a millionaire because at that time it wasn't this hard to get bitcoins as it is now. And when I say I might have got involved with it I mean it because even when I became part of bitcoin ecosystem It didn't take me long to convince myself that this is something I had to be part of. So I have regrets but still I'm happy and positive about making it big with bitcoin even now.

You aren't the only one. I think everyone has regrets about not buying Bitcoin when it was so cheap. I first learned about when it was just $15 and now it is $3,000+ so I lost an opportunity for 200x my net worth... Tongue

Oh well, live and learn.

I didn't believe in BTC when I first heard about it because I didn't spend time learning it in detail.
Me too.It was my biggest regret of not taking it seriously to make a study of it.I realized now that bitcoin is not really so hard to understand if only i gave my time to make some research to fully understand it.And maybe by this time,i could be a millionaire already in my own place.

It's never too late to join the bitcoin community. Yes of course now no longer the same prices as before, but it's still not the prices that will be in the future. To soothe can say that those who dealt with bitcoin before 2013, too, not all have kept their coins.
Yes, its never too late to purchase bitcoins. The price will hike up above 4000$ soon and i guess we see such pumping fluctuations in future too. But now if we purchase bitcoins, we will not have that profit which we would have had in the past by purchasing a large amount of bitcoins. That time we would have got almost 1000 bitcoins in 500$ in the year 2009.

Even i do regret for it now. In 2009 the price for one single bitcoin is 0.52$. And now it has crossed 3300$. Just imagine if we would have purchased some 1000-2000 bitcoins at that time, what would be our situation now? We would be a millionaire. I always wish to get a time machine even if it is not possible Grin

That's what I'm experiencing right now, because I'm familiar with bitcoin from 2014 but I do not really believe in bitcoin and decided to leave bitcoin, but after I read the article on someone's blog that discussed bitcoin price in 2017 this price is very high. Then I decided to go back again using bitcoin. And finally I am grateful that I am including a very lucky person because it already knows bitcoin from 2014 until now.
