Absolutely effing fantastic!!

I'll be there with bells on. I might even wear some clothes too, if you're lucky.  Grin

I'm in the 'other' state but I'd even consider going over to Perth just to be at the start of the convoy. I love the idea of a convoy too. How 'bout if we get on the CB radio and get the truckies involved? Bitcoin4backhaul. Break out the C.W. McCall.

Yah Breaker 1-9, This hear's the Rubber Duck. You got a copy on me Pig Pen, c'mon?

Let me know what you need in the way of help. I'll be glad to do whatever I can.  Smiley

OP updated with interest form.

edit: err, it's broken, fixing now.

fixed

just filled this out but had to laugh at the 'state' drop down box...

'other' can only mean south australia since technically you've listed all the other 'states' Cheesy

iirc I didn't list NT or Canberra either.

hence me using the word 'technically' since neither of those two are states Cheesy

ohright, ssshhhh lol

so we call any old meetup an expo now as long as the idea is to talk about bitcoin a bit?

An exposition definitely should have merchant booths.

yeah are you guys really thinking of making at a casino? that might make it a little pricey. Maybe make it close to somewhere with a backpacker hostel.

Thanks cloon, some good ideas there, i had no problems with your english Smiley

Unfortunately MrTiggr has taken ill and his role will be severly reduced in the the short term.
I have offered to step up and check out available venues and costings in Melbourne.

We need to cost it all out so we can talk to our sponsors, and anyone offering help or support, financial or otherwise.

I also feel we need to formalise a BitcoinAU 2011 organising comittee and find someone good at PR with some time to help get the word out to the press.

Anyone with time and motivation to help publicise Bitcoin in AU (or the world) is welcome to contact me at [email protected]

Ideas for publicity stunts prior and during, activities and talks that would attract Mr and Mrs general public are welcome, and what would you the Bitcoiner like to see at your Bitcoin AU 2011

One thing I will be strongly pushing for is our venue to accept bitcoins for the weekend and hopefully one of the exchanges can step up and convert to cash for them  - this is an idea I have not put to any exchange yet.

best
Graet

look out for people who dont use bitcoin yet! they gave to come to the Conference too!
i'ts also important, that you get a few revolutionary bitcointools or sites, you present, what gives interest for the media.
put on there some entertaining and a possible way for everyone to buy bitcoins within 1 min with cash and theyr PC/Phone or theyr online wallet made on one of your pc...

all in all:
-people have to be exited about the conference
-media have to see things they've never seen before
-both of them have to realize, that the bitcoinworld is huge and will not die in a year!

sry for my terrible english
