While the idea is nice, downloading for "trusted" sources on torrent sites and using a good antivirus, solves already many issues.
If the limit of your service is 1 torrent/day, than that will not attract many users ...

I am a torrent user and for the moment I use ThePirateBay website to download stuff. A computer user with intermediate to advanced skills can surely distinguish when there is a malware in the files, TPB let's you see file list before downloading a torrent plus there are comments from users who have downloaded the file before.

Although TPB works well for me I would use your service if it was free or with very cheap payment because it simplifies the whole process for the user.

There are already a few of these services that exist, and I use one of them.

Fremium Model:
- The service would be free, but limited to 1 torrent/day as free users (not clear about that).
- The downloaded files would expire in a short time frame, let's say 3 days, unless you pay an extra for storaging the file on the server.
Don't offer fremium, it'll be abused, a free 1 week trial would be a lot better that this. Secondly for 3 days is little less time I suppose, the service that I currently use support upto 30 days or more(not sure).

Thinking of an integration with Mega, after the server downloads the torrent, the file could be moved automatically to your mega account or something like that, the problems i'm facing is that I need the user credentials to do that (username and password).
Now that's a original idea. I have never seen a service offering that, I would very much like that but if you could integrate it to Google drive, that would be deal maker for me and switch to your service instantly.

Oh, I'm sorry i misread the above details.
Anyway, oh i see, so you wanted to host a torrent sites. It might be hard for you to get a lot of traffic but sooner or later they will just recognized your website, it is just a matter of traffic though. And one thing if you want to be a legit torrent don't ever accept a copyrighted files or else you will find the authorities knocking in your front door.

I think he want's to make a service that would act like a middle man between user and torrent hosting website. Like providing safe and good torrents so you don't have to scramble around and catch some virus. Pretty much quite similar to what popcorn time does, tho this is for torrents overall.

I think the idea is not bad,at least because users could download files at their full internet speed which sometimes it is not the case when you use torrent and depend of number of seeders and their upload speed.I can say that for me it is not problem to download some file from torrent since I am protected by antivirus which scan files and also I check comments of users who download that file before.

As some commented it is much better to download with torrent, you can start and stop downloading at any time,if user have good protection on PC and he is careful what he download the risk is reduced to the smallest extent possible.

I have never had a problem myself with virus&malware that came with the torrent file.

Hello, thanks for the Reply.

This:
"Yes, of course but if the files that i am looking is not there. I might switch to another torrent websites."

Makes me think that you don't understand correctly what I plan to do. It's not a torrent site where you can download files.

It's a site that takes a way for you the need to have a torrent client installed in your PC.

The site flow would be:
1. Enter the site
2. Upload a .torrent file or paste in a link to the torrent file
3. Wait until you get an email with the complete file ready to download, without torrent without nothing, just the result of downloading the torrent plus the advantage that it has been searched for worms and antiviruses.

Ya, the above one.

Extensions are cool, but I personally avoid them them until they are absolute necessary like ad blockers. Also I think there is a benefit of torrent client, that you can download files at your pace. You can take as long as you want. Downloading via browsing is not a good experience when you have large files and when the internet speed is also very low.

I sometimes use a torrent service, and I don't think your service is useful for people like me. I usually download from trusted sources and have my antivirus always running. So malware and virus is not a big issue. Also since I use a desktop, so torrent client is also not an issue. I use the client only when I need, otherwise it does not run in the background.

Although yes, what you can instead do is host a torrent service where users can easily find the required torrents, which are pre -checked for virus and all. Most torrent sites don't stay for long or are hard to find. So if you can work in that field, then surely people will be ready to pay or make account on your site.

So, you mean having a site where you can for example search for a file, and this sites searches immediately let's say 100 torrent sites, and give you the best result?

PD: And what if, you have a chrome or mozilla extension, that detects there is a torrent file and this extension directly send the torrent to the site and downloads it and send it you per email/telegram all this automatically?

Are you a torrent user?
Yes, i am a torrent user but i often using it.

Would you use a service like this?
Yes, of course but if the files that i am looking is not there. I might switch to another torrent websites.

Would you pay (small amount) to download even more each day?
Not really, since i am only using it often when i am looking for something.

About the price, sure it would be something reasonable, with a lot of offers, discounts and ways to get it free, like referring other people.
If you wouldn't add an ads to it then it is up to you but most of the torrent sites i have visited has all ads on their site. I think this is the only way they can get when a free user visited to their website.

Why don't you just put something like puts ads on a free user and remove ads on a paid user something like that.

My idea to announce this site is to get sponsorship with torrent sites.
You will need a lot of traffic first.

The problem is, how to face problems like copyrights because holding movies could be a legal issue. Maybe if I just hold them 3 days (time enough for the user to download it from the site) and then delete it. Or have datacenters in some countries with no law issues. That's something I have to think about also.
Just like Potato Chips said, most of them are illegal and i often find it that they always change their url address. I don't know why but i just think that it is quiet useful for them. IMO

Yes, i am a torrent user. i'm currently using a site which downloads torrents on their server then allow me download files directly.

Would you use a service like this?
Absolutely yes. when you do get on developing, do add search function directly on site, would be a real help.

Would you pay (small amount) to download even more each day?
Yeah i would. one suggestion here, instead of monthly subscription, if you charged on per GB/storage used that would be much more economical and probably many would prefer.  Roll Eyes

Thanks all for your replies.

What do you mean with search function? Could you explain better please?

Thanks!

Sorry i didn't type torrent lol. what i meant was having a torrent search function/feature on site, you could do that by utilizing APIs of various trusted torrent sites and allow anyone to search for files/videos and add them directly for download without leaving the site.

Yes and I use it once or twice a week lol.

Yes if the time comes

Personally NO as I don't cross the safety line. I only use torrent sites which I trust, I'm very wary when a torrent file has no reviews, I check the uploader etc.. but it's mostly videos anyway lol

Most torrent files are illegal and the moment that you hold it for someone to download, it is already considered as illegal as you're basically doing what the pirate torrent sites do.

Anyway, I don't understand why you have to provide a different download link when you can just inform the user if the torrent file has a malware or not.

And yeah since you mentioned you will be downloading the file(s), how long do you think the process could last? per gb for example? as you know there are times when some people really need the file so it would be a huge let down if it will take a long time for you to check.

I'm using TPB and you have an indicator if the provider is trusted, if the torrent has viruses, something missing,etc... there's a comment section below for that. Tho it would be nice to have something like this to search for the best optimal torrent, sure why not.

Yeap, tho I'm not using torrents as frequently as before.

Probably, but would also be using the free version because I torrent something like once a month.

Thanks for your feedback, I already come up with a solution to the "injecting malware" problem.

Send the file to an external service to check for viruses, like https://www.virustotal.com .

But here the file size could be a problem, I have to dig more into this.

About the price, sure it would be something reasonable, with a lot of offers, discounts and ways to get it free, like referring other people.

My idea is that you can Pay with money or with cryptocurrencies, both types of currencies to reach more people, not only crypto-enthusiasts.

Tools like that already exist, but most of them are not free.

My idea to announce this site is to get sponsorship with torrent sites.

The problem is, how to face problems like copyrights because holding movies could be a legal issue. I remember a similar websites that I frequently used before. Though its not torrent that I share to my clients, but the finished products which I need to send to them because we all know the emails have limitations.

Anyways to answer you:

1. Yes, I'm a torrent users but I'm no longer downloading as I used to be.

2. Yes, I might used use your tool because it saves me the hassle to download the torrent. But I'm also concern about the malwares and the virus that you can inject to the files, as what @mobnepal has previously raised.

3. I'm willing to pay as long as I can get it quick and fast and at a top speed. But the fee should be reasonable as well.
