I want to hear more ideas about how someone stops or controls their gambling habits.
Maybe many of us who are accustomed to doing gambling activities will accept to stop and be responsible, if betting wins in large quantities, many of us continue to make gambling activities because they are a lot of losses than defeat For that reason they will think to pursue losses, but they are not aware of losing and losing again, even though they know that it is risky.

Many gamblers cannot control themselves caused by defeat and lose money, what's more money is not his own money that is used in gambling All gamblers understand risk and are responsible, but the economic situation that requires them to continue to do gambling activities even though they are in trouble.

Someone can stop gambling if they don't deem find it very important in their life, and the easiest way to make money. Gambling is good when too much feelings are not attached to it for financial benefits, because today lot of people have found gambling as means of additional income to sustain themselves but as they keep gambling it creates this addictive chances for them which can take them too much time to control or even stop gambling.

There are other reasons people gamble too. Sometimes they gamble to socialize, or to relax, or to distract themselves from other things they have to do, which is never a good reason. Some people also see gambling as a form of entertainment, like going to the movies or watching a hockey game.
Those who view gambling as entertainment can quit gambling at any time. On the other hand, those who gamble to make money find it difficult to quit gambling. Many people get addicted to gambling to earn money, as a result they lose a lot of money. Why do we gamble to make money? Gambling is risky, you win or lose. So gambling is good for entertainment, it won't affect you financially if you gamble with a small amount from your income. Now speaking of me, I gamble for fun. So I can quit gambling at any moment. And if you want to be safe, stay away from gambling.

Most gamblers who decide to stop is because they get in a deep Hole or debt, that's the best motivation we will ever have to stop and quit gambling, when we lose a big amount we will ask our self if does It worth to keep gambling.

I have see some site like the one that OP mentioned, but I don't feel users will stop gambling after read those sites.

Everything starts by knowing what you can accommodate, what your ability can handle and if you know that you can not control your urge in gambling, it better you don't even involve your self because if you self yourself to it, it could ruin you. So, before anyone think of going into gambling, they should first of all consider if it's something they can handle so well or not. If not, they should not venture into it.  Responsible gambling depends on individual ability to discipline themselves no matter what.

There are many articles online on how one should gamble responsibly, but are there any success stories of people who've successfully stopped gambling after following any advice mentioned in those blog posts?

For example, Responsiblegambling.org offers multiple posts as to how one should gamble, the impact of gambling on youth, and a lot more.

If You Could Lose, Why Would You Risk It?

When emotionally unstable, you shouldn't risk a lot, even during that time. I have thought of mentioning this post here. Whoever finds it useful should read it.

In fact, gambling should always be for entertainment, gambling should never be for making money outside of entertainment. I always use gambling for entertainment, I have never used gambling as a means of making money. So far, in my gambling experience, I have not participated in gambling irresponsibly. I have always gambled responsibly while maintaining my decency. Because I gamble responsibly, I have not become addicted to gambling until now because I can stop gambling whenever I want and can participate in gambling again at my own will. I always use 1 percent to a maximum of 5% of my income on the gambling platform. I do not use any money outside of it. Also, I can control myself after losing in gambling, which is the most proud thing for me.

There might be some success stories where people read these articles, put it to work and come out from addiction. The main issue is not to read these materials, implementing what you have read is more important. Secondly, gamblers like to keep their struggle with addiction secret. So even when they become free from addiction, they still keep it secret and won't expose it.

Gambling for fun, relaxation or socialization is not a bad idea. What is important is how you handle your gambling life. If you gamble responsibly because of the above reasons, that's fine by me.

I agree with your opinion that it will be wrong to put on much funds into gambling when you are not in a good frame of mind. Sometimes gambling needs lots of concentration or attention and any distraction could lead to a mistake which could cause a big loss. But the basic rule applies at all times; always gamble with what you can afford to lose.

Like you said in the first paragraph there are a dozen of articles or groups that talk about responsible gambling and things like that but I do agree that it is hard to control it.

Be responsible is like an easy word and easy to say but very hard to practice it, heck it happened to me sometimes I can control my emotion and sometimes I don't it just hard to turn the habit and to be honest there is no easy way.

The best way based on my experience is only do gamble with money that you can afford to lose and stay in the budget

The best way to gamble is to gamble for the fun of it and not to make money off gambling, I know this is hard for most people but taking money away from gambling will give us great satisfaction so for sure to gamble on the safer side we need to always check the limits at which we put profits in front.

Having a responsible gambling life is a lifelong journey that requires discipline and dedication to apply all the roles that keep you on the safe side while gambling.

Bravo, yours are very wise words
If you play to have fun, you don't have too, i think i am not sure of it, the psychological pressure of having to win at all costs!
For this, if i am not mistaken, in Texas Holdem at a sports level you pay an entrance and then they give you a "fake" chips value to be able to play serenely
or tournaments chips are not real money..the mind sometimes can fool us

It's really hard to play for fun though, I mean losing money is not that fun unless you have a lot of money to burn. But for average gamblers like the rest of us, we wanted to win money so let's just be honest with that. Of course we can all be responsible, if we didn't win then stop and get out and not thinking of recovering that money. Or maybe just set aside some money like gamble once a week and you will be fine.

But the problem is that even if we try to be responsible and knows every trick in the book and say that we will control ourselves, gonna be difficult. Like like Tuesday, I said to myself that I will just play for fun but then I keep on depositing and didn't have control until I lost everything. But still though, I didn't take it very hard and just decided to go and rest and make myself busy with other things so that I won't think about that money.

I want to hear more ideas about how someone stops or controls their gambling habits.  Smiley

In my opinion, when people have many things to do to amuse themselves and do not play at casinos when they are having financial or emotional problems, they just play for fun, then that person will have self-control when playing at the casino. For example, a person who has a job, has a good family, when he leaves work he talks to the people at home, watches TV, reads newspapers, plays computer video games, talks to friends, hangs out with family and friends. Then that person spends only a little time playing games of chance, that person will not be dependent on gambling, that person will always have good self-control.

Or he will not play at all, there are a lot of individuals who doesn't like gambling. And even if you try to teach them, they don't like it, because they don't like the idea of losing their hard earn money. I know a lot of those individuals, friends and families maybe due to the nature of their jobs or their religions doesn't play at all. So we could only admire them as we gamblers don't have that self control.

Although in the years that I have gambled, perhaps I learn some things like just play with the money that you can afford to lose. Or if you lose big money, then just sleep it over and don't be affected mentally. Because there are others who are really affected and have a mental trauma because of losing big money.

To become a responsible gambler is from the gambler's mind and if he can be one then he can and if he can't control himself then he can't. But it is possible for one to be a responsible gambler by limiting their gambling habits and time of visiting the casinos sites. In gambling many people can't control their habits because they want to win always and once a gambler has such mindset then it is difficult for him to be a responsible gambler. Simple ways to do it, don't chase loses and play what you can afford to lose. Limit the amount of money he used daily, weekly and monthly. They are other things a gambler can do to stop addiction in gambling.

Gamblers place a high priority on gambling the same way they put priority on the other things like work and family that you mentioned, Gamblers are more deliberate towards gambling these days and are not taking gambling as a time anymore but rather as a habit and some are even addicted so for those set of gamblers who are already addicted, they will battle with the war of decision that is, trying to balance things, that is very important so having a family to talk or a TV set can't quench their taste towards gambling then.

The thing with only guide on how to stop gambling addiction is that they make it sound as if it’s an easy thing to do but in reality putting an end to an addiction is not an easy thing to accomplish — they’ll tell you do A, do Z, don’t do J but even if you follow their instructions you’ll still end up in the same place battling with the addiction.

I have seen people follow some of this things through and still had no positive result; while some did it and got positive results from it - so the fact it worked for A doesn’t mean B should be able to reproduce the same results.

I don’t know if this is your site but I’ll try and go through your article later and see if it’s the typical ones I have been seeing before on the topic “get rid of gambling addiction” I’ll come back with a review once I’m finished with it.

If one is disciplined, they  could be able to control themselves from gambling excess or gamble within their budget.
It all comes down from there and it's true that if every gambler is disciplined, no one is going to become addicted to it. The obsession of making money off everything becomes too much when the outcome of it isn't happening and instead, it brings the worse out of ourselves.

However, I had to scan through your website to see for myself testimonials of people who were addicted gamblers but couldn't find any. It would, be nice if you were able to get testimonials of people who were gamblers to say how they were able to beat the gambling addiction, that would be very much helpful because people would also want to learn from them and apply such measures to their gambling lifestyle.
I do think that there are websites that contains that type of content of problematic gamblers. The testimonies that they have on how they've changed from having the perspective of being addicted to gambling and how much they're making and losing but then realization comes to their lives and everything changed their point of view about it but, they're not a hater of it but someone who just learned the harder way.

You could read all the stories that you want, all the success in beating the addiction etc but it's still up to the actual person to how they are going to be handling his habits. If he manage to really pull it of, it's going to be a proud moment, but if not, it's a different case then. I do believe that it's still with the will of the person as to how much he knows it's bad for him and then accepting that and proceeding to do something about it.

It's definitely breaking the cycle, which is what's important in stopping problematic addictions.
Stories are like advice, most times we don't learn anything from all of that, and the best lesson only comes from the one we learned from our own experience if you haven't experienced the ugly incidents in gambling, no matter how you read about others that made such mistakes and hard such bad experiences you will not take it seriously as a lesson like the way you take the one that happens to you as a person, so individual involvement is the key factors that determine anything either good or bad, if you want to fight gambling addiction, it has to come from individual conviction and determination, and also if you want to protect yourself from getting addicted in the first place it still depends on you.

Reading or knowing about certain rules and regulations does not justify the ability to comply with them or follow them.
Second, gambling profitably is different from stopping it and if a gambler plays the game profitably I don't see any reason s/he have to stop if does not involve something important.

For example, Responsiblegambling.org offers multiple posts as to how one should gamble, the impact of gambling on youth, and a lot more.

Every gambler has different reasons why they participate in the game, and we all have different interpretations. Therefore, things that seem not to be a good reason to you may be a good reason for someone else.

Based on experience. The only way I know anyone can stop or control their gambling habit is by taking a break from the game but if that doesn't work I will suggest seeking professional help.

These articles come from research from people who actually stopped using the method these article sites are posting. There is no one or two formulas one can use to stop gambling because we are not all the same; some just realized they have to stop; some need professional help, but all the other ways point out that there is a cure for gambling and its customized for everyone.

Upload your image on talkimg.com and copy the code there, your image link with imgur doesn't show.

Thanks.
Now it shows, you're welcome.

One is that they're already tired, and they understand that they will never win against the house. That's why they're stopping gambling and spending their money on something they will benefit more from.

Next, when a gambler wins a lot. While it's hard to control greed and hard to cash out when emotions are high, there are still a lot of gamblers who are disciplined.

Lastly, when things get worse and they do unnecessary things just for the sake of gambling. Family is being affected by it and due to that, relationships are destroyed so they end up changing themselves by stopping.

Yes, it becomes regular habit even after you find yourself winning more, being disciplined is the key here, same happens in trading, people blow up their accounts, just like they do gambling.

The dopamine hit from wins is to be enjoyed momentarily but not get the hang of it. Awareness regarding responsible gambling is necessary these days.
I like that and that's true. Awareness that with gambling there's a limit for everything. Limit of winning, limit of being lucky, and limit in losing too.

We might not control and will never know when losing will come but we can limit it. Whilst some gamblers can't do it themselves, all they have to do is to review themselves and start limiting their actions for it.
