ETH is not particularly dead, nor is it a scam because it was premined.
There is nothing wrong with a coin being pre-mined if the admin is using the pre-mine to build the project and take it to another level.
An example of a coin that has been pre-mined was ADZcoins but the admin has used that coin to develop his project, and build the community by giving away rewards and so on.
