Terribly sorry to see that Hal's life has come to an end, but I am glad to hear he elected cryo-preservation.  I hope he rests in peace for awhile and that technology one day advances to the point that the damage to his body from the cryopreservation process can be fixed and he can be revived.  It's worth mentioning that if technology actually advances to that point, curing many of the diseases we know today would probably be trivial, as would defeating aging.  I see that Finney's wife is also an Alcor member.  Here's hoping that in a future age they are able to rejoin each other for many centuries of healthy living and enjoyment.

Maybe in the decades to come the wealth generated from the Bitcoin revolution will have a role to play in the research that could one day revive Hal Finney.

RIP Hal Finney, at least for the time being.

This is crazy, cryogenized? Does that even exist? They can cryogenize someone but we dont have the knowledge to wake them up? how does this work?

It's still theoretical as no one has been successfully revived after being frozen yet.  With some conditions, if you get medical attention quickly enough, you can technically be dead for a few minutes and still be "brought back", but if too much time passes, it can cause brain damage.  The assumption is that if you freeze the body and prevent it from decaying, it should mean you can be revived in future when they've found a cure for your illness.  But it sounds like this particular implementation of cryogenics adds the complication of having to remove all the chemicals from the body that they've pumped into it to prevent the freezing itself causing damage.  I'm assuming that a complete blood transfusion would then be needed and there are probably all sorts of other considerations that would have to be made as well.

In a way it does sound a bit far-fetched, but then again, we are posting on a forum about Bitcoin, so who knows what's possible in future.
