I've created an offer selling 0.01 'molecular BTC' for 0.0096 'bitstamp BTC'.  (No offense, molecular!)
Your molecular BTC are now mine... Good deal too, as he promised to honor his IOU at 100%. I guess I just made 0.0004 BTC, now I'll wait till it's valued in gazillons of dollars before asking molecular to redeem it... Buahaha!

I thought this wasn't possible yet: https://github.com/rippleFoundation/ripple-client/issues/151

anyone wanna try creating a new currency on ripple, the FAV (favor): https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.1577953

EDIT: we successfully create the Favor (FAV): https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.1578025. Idea: if someone does you a favor, you send him 1 FAV on ripple. Let's see what happens.

This is an awesome idea, a creative way to use ripple. I suppose there will have to be a network of FAV trust extended between people. It seems reasonable to trust most people for one favor, right?

Can you do a half a favor? Or are these only sent in whole amounts?

So I went to ripple.com/graph, entered my own address, switched currency to BTC and tried to click on every address that trusts me (incoming link). This is the result:

congrats on owning one of the most trustworthy BTC IOUs in ripple.

To redeem, post a bitcoin address here, then transfer the IOUs to me.

Ok, I'm intrigued by this BTC/BTC trading thing so let's have a go:

I've created an offer selling 0.01 'molecular BTC' for 0.0096 'bitstamp BTC'.  (No offense, molecular!)

molecular: rpH3zuMch2GrrYX724xGWwbMGwiQ5RbSAU
bitstamp: rvYAfWj5gh67oV6fW32ZzP3Aw4Eubs59B

Any takers?

You should see the offer if you choose bitstamp as the base currency issuer and molecular as counter currency issuer.

I can't see it:

EDIT: because it's been bought.

I enter Bitstamp (rvYAfWj5gh67oV6fW32ZzP3Aw4Eubs59B) and try to send USD I get:

However, when I go to Bitstamp and click "send using ripple client", It appears to fill out the exact same data as before, but:

Edit Edit: Is there some sort of directory for Ripple yet? I just noticed the address r9YoMBhhQbEA8jsvHnWhAM8tdpN4xYrb8B on my trust list, but I am not sure who they are?

I just trusted you for 0.5 GBP. I also got trusted by r9YoMBhhQbEA8jsvHnWhAM8tdpN4xYrb8B and would like to know who it is.

Would be great to see some movement on my screen.

TTBit: rGwUWgN5BEg3QGNY3RX2HfYowjUTZdid3E

I've trusted pretty much everyone in this thread for a small amount of USD and BTC. PM me if I missed you.

also - BitStamp looks impressive, can I use this to determine how much trust I grant?

If you don't redeem your IOUs at face value, you would in effect devalue your own worth, make your friends collect what you owe them, and cause your IOUs worth less in the future. An IOU is a promise to your friends that you'll give them USD or whatever other currency you've promised to give them.

(There are things like debt buy-back and discounting of debts at play too, but I don't know how Ripple supports that, if it even does.)

I grant trust to molecular with 100 usd, but I have only 0.5 in my ripple acc now  Wink
You sure you want to do that? That means that if you ever hold USD in the system, molecular or someone else can take them from you and in exchange give you molecular IOUs, which he is under no obligation to honor.

Under no obligation? Maybe not face to face, but if molecular is owed $100 via ripple, I can swap IOUs with that person, yes?

Funny, I'm not seeing anything on the Bitstamp BTC/molecular BTC order book. Can anybody else see my WeEx BTC/Bitstamp BTC offer?

Ah. Looks like the order has been filled already.  I no longer own molecular IUOs. That went fast!

What?
~247 xrp is not enough?
Your current balance is low. You must keep a minimum of 250 XRP to use all the features of ripple.

Edit: received, thank you.  Smiley
Will someone kind please send me 4 little xrp's?
