hmmmm, maybe u guys should build a case like S3 from bitma*n...
am sorry ,but it helps in reducing temp.
and maybe some discount at the price..
i just hoping that u guys also can selling miners like hotcake
Perhaps R4 will have it Smiley

After getting screwed on 3 RK-Boxes I will not purchase from Rockminer again and urge others to look elsewhere.

thanks mstrongbow. I just went back into this thread and saw that 2 or 3 pages back.
I don't think the PWM speed control for the RK or R3 boxes works at all even though the fans are PWM

I have adjusted the rk-boxes freq's to 320 and rejects have went from 10.95% to 4.68%. I have lost a small amount of ghs but pool side is 460+/- ghs stable(Slush's Pool). The chips are runnings cooler so I have been able to turn the fan down even more. It has also decreased watts a small amount from wall. Everything seems stable for the last 2 hours since my ghs leveled out at pool. Thanks for eveyones help, time to move to the next project.

How did you turn your fan down? Something you added?
Only options in the GUI is Full Speed and Auto

I believe he is using an PC fan controller (PCI slot mounted) to throttle down the fan

What kind of USB Hub are you using to connect 4 USB cables?

The bare pcb versin 4port USB hub that came with the Rocket or R3 or just the store bought USB hub?

Performed a system reboot and scanned for miners again (using MultiMiner/BFGMiner) and it picked up the "missing" blade but within 10 minutes the blade is no longer hashing. I should have time to mess with the drivers and CGMiner soon...working on 3d prints right now

I am using the Rockminer supplied 4-port USB hub and routing into a Belkin 7-port hub which I have used for many USB miners (Rockminers, Gridseed and Erupters etc.)
Should I be powering the supplied USB hub from one of the blades with the supplied cable?

Playing with my Rocket Box and R3,  you might want to use Cgminer on Rocket gears.

If it is hashing low, try to make sure the little control card attached to each hashing PCB seated well and connected well.

Then check each USB cables connected okay.

Or test just 1 hashing PCB at a time and see if it goes up to 120-130gh/s range.  At least it should hit 110/gh

For some reasons, if it stuck at 32-40GH/S range, unplug the USB and then plug it back in.  If the cgminer doesn't start hashing, restart it and it should be picking up the speed to where it should be.

If you are connecting your Rocket Box or R3 to the home internet router or the office router, and for some reasons, it is hashing so low, please try using the different Internet Connection such as Cellphone Hotspot then to the Wi-Fi bridge to test out if using the different Internet Network Setting would resolve your speed issues. (some half speed hashing could be simply the network issues, but it could be the hardware failures, too but it seems more of the network issues than the Rock Gear hardware side)

Used to S1 and S2, and now getting used to these Rock Box and R3 x2 pack are hashing at over 900GH/S and when I connect 1 Pi to each Rocket Box or R3, it hashes at over 500GH/s

Nice! Just waiting on a replacement R-Pi unit but I will be changing driver to the Zadig driver and playing with CGMiner as BFGMiner does't play well currently. Not only am I getting only 70-80 Gh/s per blade but now only 3/4 blades are hashing  Undecided

Looks like RockMiner released new Firmware.  You can control the frequency via the built-in Web GUI

I have adjusted the rk-boxes freq's to 320 and rejects have went from 10.95% to 4.68%. I have lost a small amount of ghs but pool side is 470+/- ghs stable(Slush's Pool). The chips are runnings cooler so I have been able to turn the fan down even more. It has also decreased watts a small amount from wall. Everything seems stable for the last 2 hours since my ghs leveled out at pool. Thanks for eveyones help, time to move to the next project.

Update: Now pool side is 480+/- ghs stable(Slush's Pool). Same low rejects of 3.75% - 4.79%. Both units really hashing good now. Temps with lower fan speed 41-53 depending on time of day.

I will post up with pics later  Grin

Any aftermarket fan recommendations for the RK-Box miners?
This thing is LOUD and is beginning to bother my tinnitus  Undecided

Thanks!

[/quote: I installed a manual fan control on my RK-Boxes that is working well to dramatically reduce the fan noise and still keep the blades cool. Highly reccomended if the Rocket Boxes are in your house. I just lowered fan speed and monitored during the hotest times of the day to get right setting for quiet cooling. I have not had to adjust fan speed since installed and adjusted.     Here is the link of the ones I'm using:
 http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004LL8KF6?cache=8dd22ea26140667f1737f48c0bd46cbe&pi=SX200_QL40&qid=1404945076&sr=8-1#ref=mp_s_a_1_1

Note: plastic guide on the end of the fan controller wires must be shaved down to fit on the miner. I used a knife, takes about 5 seconds, works well

Also, I just got confirmation from Rockminer that the firmware update for the r3 will also work for rk-Box. Doggie has complete firmware update instructions on his r3 setup page.

Update:  Firmware upgrade instructions for r3 does work with rk-Box with pi. On my two units(each has a pi) I had to ssh with pi then exit, then ssh a second time to allow for update. The first time you ssh to pi a corrupted dadabase error comes up, but once you fully exit and go back in everything works fine and update is applied. You can now adjust freq's at bottom of pools page.

I have a problem connecting more than 2 Rocket Boxen on the raspberry Pi.

When i connect more (4 Boxen) with a good d-link hub between, 16 board are detected and shown, but they are only working with about 70 GH/s.

When i connect the same to a windows pc and using cgminer everything is fine!

The Pi Image does not support more than 2 miners/pi

Can you explain how the Adaptive frequency function of your software works? What is the minimum freq, what is the maximum freq range of the software sent out with the RK units?
On your R3 update 0.93 we have a selection of 300,320 & 350! when one of those is selected does the Adaptive frequency function stop working?
Also the fan selection full or auto, does temperature drive the fan 0 to 100%? What is the temperature range? for example does 0%=25 deg C and 40 deg C = 100%?
Thanks Trends

Freq range: 200M~400M. You can modify the pools.php file(in view folder) to use other freqs.

fan option:

    full:100% speed

    auto(just for R4):
        if(temp> 50deg C)   speed=100%   ;else speed=70%

rockxie

auto(just for R4)?
Does this mean the auto fan option does not work for RK (R2) and the R3 miners?
