It is not the jpg that makes it worth that much, it is the tech behind it that makes it worth that much. I mean there is nothing that we should be really claiming that we know in the NFT world because some things just happen without any reason at all and makes everyone shocked. I consider them like that banana taped to the wall that the guy ate which was worth 150k.

We all know that it was not really "art", it was banana taped to the wall, and even the owner said that banana could be changed it was the "idea" that was the art and not THAT banana that makes it art. Do you really believe that a banana taped to wall worths a ton of money? We all know it shouldn't however it became viral and probably worths even more right now, art is a bit weird like that.

I do not consider this NFTs to be like that banana taped on the wall. The reason is that there is more effort and cost in making and selling of these NFTs compared to that eaten banana. However, these 2 kind of arts has value for some people, so they are willing to pay for it. It's been what things are recently, I think we shouldn't be that shocked if an NFT is sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars. The "idea", "symbolism", back story, subject, uniqueness, etc. are reasons why these kind of arts are valuable.

Yeah i see this time there are less entries and still there are few winning members from previous contests like @Maus0728 and others top winners who still have not submitted their artworks.
I don't know man!

There is a fuckton of academic workload pouring in to my schedule, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to submit an artwork before the deadline! But, sure, I'm in the process of finishing my entry, perhaps tomorrow morning or right before the thread gets locked. I just hope that I can finish it right on time while maintaining the quality.

Goodluck to all other participants! And yeah! school sucks! -_-

The month is going to end soon and so is the competition and i wanted to take part also but due to some personal reasons not getting time to devote it to make some art so feeling sad about it but happy to see some entries as well.Wish best of luck to all the contestants and waiting for more members to join this art contest.
The deadline is tomorrow but I think there will be an extension (just like the previous art contest) for users who also want to take part but running out of time, so you still have a chance. Anyway im looking forward for the entries of the artists here especially the artwork of those who often win. Goodluck to everyone.

Did see that contest and actually forgot this is valentine's month, am I getting old. Sad

Yeah, we shouldn't see the reputation for the contest winner when they can bypass it hy simply create a new account and post their art in the thread.
I do not think you are getting old. Maybe many of us miss that moment because we have another busy thing that we do. But you can wait for the next contest from Roobet because they will announce it here or use their social media to share the contest. Meanwhile, the next months can be a good time for Roobet to launch the other surprise to us, giving us another excitement.

exactly, I agree that an artists is not their art...
on the other hand, I also believe a better person will create better art in most of situations, but this is a point for a different topic.

Are roobet art contests still happening or they stopped with these?
Currently the art contest wasn't live at the moment, generally we may see them only at the festival season like new year but why we need to discuss about the winners reputation? If there is no such rules that negative tagged account can't participate in the art contest then they can't able to win or else there is no problem at all.

YES, A ROOBET Art Contest with the theme " Winter & Valentine's Day" is still running until February 28th. Negatively tagged accounts, whether participant or non-participant, are meaningless. Despite such a rule, anyone can create a new account and participate on it. Thus, A negative tagged account is fine with me.

Roobet.com | Art Contest "Winter & Valentine's Day" | $4950 up for grabs! Ends Feb 28.

It is my understanding that Roobet's Art competitions have not stopped and are still being held. Currently, one is still running, the "Valentines & Winter" art contest, which will close next week (February 28).

I sort of understand the disconnection between an art contest and an account with negative trust. Art is art and if you have a good art that you published then what type of person you are shouldn't dictate on how good your art is. I mean after all Art is connected to the artist a bit but not the exact thing.

Assume you saw the most beautiful painting you have ever seen but it is by some person who committed crime all their life, would that make the art bad? It just makes the artist bad. I am not saying that one or the other version of this is better, but I could totally understand the logic of a negative account getting art win because those two things seem a bit unrelated.

that!

people should remember that value is different than price and some of these high prices of NFTs are already justifiable just for the fact that there's people willing to pay for it, so, they value it

people don't always buy on reason, sometimes the buy on emotion too

worth remembering that the image it's just a tiny part of the NFT, what is on the surface, there are many other details on the next layers like inside the contract, properties, etc..
Yeah that's our personal opinion how we rate art and this is nothing and have seen people paying huge amounts for some paint colour only on big frame and similar artworks but they find it worth paying so it's their choice only but for me there should be something worth noticing in art and it must have something to pay for.

Many artists had join the train of NFT creators making it competitive and difficult to sell due to the high numbers of participants joining the market. It looks to me that there is more NFT creators than the buyers themselves.
NFT is a great asset which will be quite interesting to have in one's portfolio but sometimes it's difficult to sell especially for holders.
See particularly i am not fan of jpeg images but some projects which have some utility in them will surely survive the the next blow otherwise all will be out from the market and their holders would loose all the funds. At this time many are jumping to make profits but don't have prerequisite knowledge so they lag behind. If you look clearly there are buyers and sellers as well for this NFT trend.

some say most NFTs will go to zero over time, and this is possible (the long tail)
but some blue-chip ones will probably stay and melt faces

some projects are already changing what we've seen before in terms of collective media creation and IP.

For sure the projects that are having no stake and serve no purpose will not survive in the market as selling images as NFT is now becoming tough.Only a handful of projects that have some P2E or PVP game setup and some purpose will survive the next few years.Or others will be lying like dead tokens in your wallets who nobody wants.

I would like to participate on it but do they allow negative trust users to join in their art contest? It would be nice if I could showcase my art even though I am not really that good.
Yeah! There are other participant who submitted an artwork with a negative trust on their account and are still able to win a prize. Other than that, it is also not indicated on the Announcement thread that having a negative trust is prohibited.

One example is this user -> https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/5ksanahandmade-2555471 who is announced to be the winner of the said contest -> https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.54928901

I'm not sure what you mean exactly, but I assume that you think that people from the forum who have won previous contests are also participating?

I think so too, we have some very talented artists among us here in the forum. I like to follow such contests and I am always amazed by the good works that are submitted. I think that the contest will be worthwhile for Roobet, which in turn will pay off for all of us if Roobet continues to strengthen their promotional activities here in the forum (longer running campaigns, more contests, ...).

I would not have read anything in the conditions of participation that users with a negative trust are not allowed to participate. Why should that be anyways, this rule makes sense for signature campaigns, but not for such contests. You don't advertise the company in any way with your account.

To be sure you can of course send Hhampuz a PM, he usually responds very quickly!

There is nothing mentioned about the trust on that thread, which means that he can participate in the art contest.
Although there are 10 prizes to be won there but you need to be a very good artist in order to win as i have seen some amazing artworks in previous artworks competitions on the forum.

When it comes to drawing competition then its always been that generous or prize is really decent on where Roobet do set on which what makes it interesting.
They are the ones who are really that active when it comes to events like this and no other.
