I don't know where the BBC got the idea that the show is somehow bigger than the hosts. The show is Jeremy, Richard and James.

I hope the BBC go bankrupt and finally die or go private, they're a bunch of corrupt assholes regardless of what Jeremy has done.

TV Licences funds the BBC over 3 billion every year. No chance of bankruptcy, they are big fat pigs Angry

3 billion? I don't think so. Where are you getting that figure from? According to the following it's 25 million for 2013/14: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television_licensing_in_the_United_Kingdom#Total_licence_sales

He didn't mean 3 billion people pay the licence fee!  That would be half of the world!  The total amount raised by the licence fee is over 3billion pounds though.

I will watch Top Gear if it goes to Netflix, but I don't disagree with him being fired.  He sounds like he was in the wrong and would have been fired from any other job for doing that.
Top Gear is past its best now anyway.  It might not be a bad idea for them go out on a high, otherwise it might really get stale.

It's also taken a huge plunge since they stopped showing Top Gear and they're begging for Hammond and May to come back, they tried bribing them and everything, I suspect the BBC will get pretty desperate once they see the viewing figures after the Top Gear presenters have left for good.

I had that figure off the top of my head, I read it somewhere before. I checked on BBC's site just now and it seems I have under-estimated their revenue from tv licences:

Quote
Total licence fee income collected increased by £16million from £3,706million to £3,722million as a result of modest household growth

25 million times £145 or so is over £3 billion smackers.

The licence fee is becoming a dinosaur quicker than anyone expected. I can't see how it could still be around in a decade unless they extend it to offline watching via phones etc. That really wouldn't go down too well and would be a monster to enforce.

At some point they're going to have to address it. I wonder what their answer will be.

Netflix is definitely the most logical option as they don't rely on advertising for their revenue

Indeed, the comment DailyMail at the end of the article is so true: "have to consider the risk to its advertising income if car manufacturers took offence at remarks the three men made about their vehicles". We so often hear "X is a piece of crap"  Cheesy

they seem to be under going a re-branding or rathert have no branding at all, so I wonder if they've already made a deal with somebody?

They are rebranding themselves to "CH&M". I will not be surprised if they become bosses of their own production and sell the rights themselves! They are worth 40 million a year!

More news cropping up from the media stalking, it looks like they're filming different stuff and they seem to be under going a re-branding or rather have no branding at all, so I wonder if they've already made a deal with somebody? Oh how I hope this is true Tongue

Netflix is definitely the most logical option as they don't rely on advertising for their revenue, it's basically like the BBC would be if they were privatised, I hope the BBC go bankrupt and finally die or go private, they're a bunch of corrupt assholes regardless of what Jeremy has done.

BBC won't ever go bankrupt as long as people keep paying their license fee. People need to ditch it en masse but that likely wont happen. Maybe there could be some sort of referendum on whether it should go private or not but I think the fee should be scrapped and it should be funded via adverts like all the other channels.

They're desperately clinging on to it, I also think it should be privatised, at least the Royal Mail was providing a genuine service but the BBC is nothing more than if Fox News were left and funded by the state. Top Gear leaving will certainly put a dent in their reputation as well as their finances.

That being said, even peadophilia wasn't enough to get people angry at the BBC, another reason why I hate this country so much, they'll put up with anything if they're told it's good for them.

I don't really like Clarkson. Do enjoy Top Gear at times, like the silly races and diy car mods. They have been on BBC from god knows when and moving to ITV is going to be good for them. They might have more freedom to do want they want (punching producers excluded), but on tighter budgets.  Cheesy

I don't think them going to ITV would be good. The show would really suffer from smaller budget and they need to make sure they can keep up with the production values of Top Gear. I think Netflix would be best as they can provide the big budget and it will eventually be syndicated to TV channels like ITV. Maybe even the beeb would show it haha.

Never heard Top gear before, anyone know what kind of show is it?
the first thing that popped into my mind when hearing 'Top gear" is some kind of car shows?

Have you heard of this new website called google? Basically you type in keywords such as 'top gear' and it finds what you're looking for. Maybe try that. I heard there's free porn on there too but haven't been able to find any myself.

I'll change it lol but honestly if they went to Netflix it would be amazing, the thing is, if you guys are outside the UK you don't realise just how much censorship and manipulation the BBC get up to, Clarkson was even in an interview fairly recently saying how nice it was to be able to say the word "shit" again.

That's an interesting point about censorship. Maybe the show will get better without the restraints the presenters are put under due to the BBC. I can't imagine May or Hammond changing much but I'm sure we'd see a change in Clarkson and maybe for the better. I always thought he was at his funniest with his more controversial jokes and I'm sure they cut many more out of the final broadcast so maybe giving them free reign on Netflix would be great for the show.

Things will get very interesting next year I suspect with those presenters, but for now they're a bit stuck because of their contracts.
