Russia trying to manipulate the market like China, not doing very well haha.

I think you may be slightly off here, panic seems to kick in again, pricr is falling pretty fast again.

LOL
Where is the BTC price falling "pretty fast"? The daily range is ~$14 and it is well above last weeks low.
Also note: The medium-term trend has been pointed up for several months (i.e. ~$340 up to ~$650)

Prepare to go much higher.  Smiley

"According to RIA Novosti, the Ministry of Finance said that uncontrollable virtual currencies create shadow economies ..."

I'm not sure they've thought this out. Cheesy
They most certainly haven not, because they think the Bitcoin economy is/will be a mere shadow. In reality the fiat economy is the shadow economy, built on the lie of value of worthless fiat scrip.

Bitcoin is the light of dawn, the truth, the (r)evolution given form.

Get it right, Russia.

"But just a few weeks ago on July 2, the Wall Street Journal reported that Russian authorities softened their stance on Bitcoin, with the central bank claiming that they wouldn’t hamper the usage of Bitcoin.

The Wall Street Journal reported: “The Bank of Russia is now accumulating information about so-called crypto-currencies and is not blocking Bitcoin, the central bank’s first deputy chairman Georgy Luntovsky said Wednesday.”

Luntovsky added that Russia needs to watch how the situation develops and that virtual currencies should not be rejected.

So it seems that either various Russian governmental authorities have opposing views on Bitcoin and are publicly butting heads on the issue, or they simply change their minds on the issue every few months. This announcement should probably be taken with a grain of salt, as it wouldn’t be surprising to hear in two weeks that Russia changed their mind once again."

Does not look like a big concern for now. Stay tuned for more exciting updates...

Kinda like how the government wanted to ban recordable CD's and DVD's. That turned out really well hey. As soon as the govnt sees something it doesn't fully understand, and is threatened by it, it wants to ban it. stupid.

That was a really short lived return for Russia. I wonder why they keep flip flopping?

Yes you would think with the economic sanctions by the EU and USA Russia would just say FU and embrace bitcoin
to more their money around internationally...they keep saying they want to undercut the US dollar..and now probably
the EU Euro...so it is either

1) only the elite are moving money around in various methods in Russia (ie state sponsored (look away at bigshots doing such wink/wink)
thus they control the $$$ supply leaving the country (which with sanctions may be major).but keep options for the Russian elite!

or

2) banning bitcoin because they have no clue that it can't be banned (in reality) with any great success and again to really
stop the regular Russian type folks ..trying to move as much fiat out of the country as they can (see china ban) due
to the west's economic pressures and other Russian elite mismanagement of their country.

hell it is probably they don't have a clue what bitcoin is/does and just banned it out of ignorance

How do you ban bitcoin? Someone please inform me.
if you cant control the code, control the people.... make them fear the power of a gun and handcuffs .. but we know in most cases it never works, take the alcohol prohibition. the moonshine industry was more popular then Pepsi back then
This is really not a good way IMO to "ban" bitcoin as there are just so many ways to avoid detection using bitcoin (VPN, Tor, ect). I feel that any attempt to "ban" bitcoin would simply move bitcoin related trade to the "black market" and would really never be effective. The only real way to "ban" bitcoin would be if a country were to be able to effectively censor and control the internet in a way similar to NK.
