Hi, to my knowledge, only firmware before 2020 can be unlocked by a remote utility, so asicTO utility (works very well) or Awesome miner (also works very well via the command "Send custom:" unlock "to unlock ssh) ...

We have also experimented with a bitmain firmware from 2020/04, and the unlocking worked very well with the SD card despite the recommendations, but to be taken with a grain of salt, we only tried the T17e ... You can try it. SD card in this case, you do not risk anything. at worst nothing will happen and you will keep the firmware currently installed. PS: "my" SD card file is compatible with all 17 series without exception, and also for all minors with the C43 control card (for exemple : s9k, s9se, Z9/11 and more).

Regarding my firmware, try to unlock it with a utility, and try to install my firmware, if that doesn't work you must use the SD card files that I placed at your disposal in the first post, once the firmware is installed, if it does not suit you, no problem to go back (Philipma1957, Favebook, and me will confirm you) it is to say install bitmain, or vnish, or other!

Bruru : If you want help, i need screen of your ("System / Overview") for i understand what firmware you use actualy Wink

I remind you that I am available for any request about my firmware, and I am as transparent as possible, do not hesitate to send me a PM if you want a quick response;)

Ps : HS , today was the big day for me! very stressed, a great first for me, this morning I had an operation for the removal of the gallbladder. Everything is fine, everything went well, I hope this will continue! I have 30 days of rest to respect, no physical effort.

However, I am not sure if awesome miner unlocks your device. They might even unlock it just to flash their firmware and then lock it so you cannot flash any other firmware. Smart they are...

Awesome Miner firmware is nothing but a re-branded version of Vnish firmware, so I highly doubt that they can edit the firmware in such a way, in fact, even the "unlock" tool is from Vnish IIRC, with that being said, I was personally able to migrate from Vnish (AowsomeMiner version as well as Asic.to) back to Bitmain and the other way around, this works on S9 as well as T17, I am not sure about the other versions but I can only assume they all are the same.

Ok, So unlocking the firmware (what i did) with an other firmware does not work? I thought by removing the Bitmain firmware the device is unlocked.

As far as I know, only Bitmain locks your miner, I have only tried Vnish and BO firmware so I can't speak about the other dozen firmware out there, but I have not heard about any other firmware except for Bitmiain's that would lock the miner, of course, absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence.

You can be right but it is not guaranteed. When you sd card flash with this firmware, your machine is unlocked. I tried flashing Vnish back and forth and it worked fine.

you need to go to location.

you have to flash an sd card that unlocks the firmware.

bring the sd card to the machine unlock firmware

then burn in new firmware using a pc with downloaded file.

op did this with my t17 and my t17e and my t17+

if you want to go back to older firmware

unlock the machine with the op's unlock sd

the load firmware with file on your pc.

I have delayed testing his s17pro firmware since I have access to no s17's until I drive up to Clifton nj from Howell nj.

When I try to install the firmware using the Awesome miner firmware on the S17pro it gives me the message " no signature ".

How can we fix this without having to go to the location :-)

My mom in law had it years ago it can be very painful.

I got the t17+ to do 62.2 th for more then tens days in a row.

it reads fail as it should do 62.6 th at the freq and the volts it is set to.

but it is a case of the unit being a poor unit.

I was able to order another s17pro. when i get it we can work on that one.

so far i am really happy with your mods. they are pretty good.

Hi, thank you for worrying, it touches me Smiley, actually I spent a night in the hospital for a "gallbladder?" bilary. I'm going a lot better, but I have to have an operation for an ablation in early October, I lost all confidence: s and a can in panic but I must do it ...

Regarding my firmware, thank you for all these details! and time to test all this! have you been able to raise power? efficiency?

I would also like to have the opinion of the community concerning the costs, their opinion interests me, I should perhaps lower them to convince more people?

Thanks again;)

Some good news it looks like the t17+ miner i have always fails but it works.

ie set to freq 500 should do 47th it does 46 or 45 even if you boost volts.

but set to freq 685 should do 59th it does 57 but you can undervolt it a bit.

so my unit on stock could do 62 th and crash and crash and crash and crash.

it is doing 59th slight undervolt and not crashing.

So it is more likely a gear issue and not a firmware issue.

I will post some screen shots. in a few.

these are full size

I am paranoid when it comes to custom firmware, It would be unlikely for me to test anything that hasn't been tested intensively by others unless I do trust the dev very much, I also heard the Vnish (AwesomeMiner/ Asic.to) are working on MicroBT firmware, I heard this a few months ago and no updates since then, I think it isn't about how hard it is to make, it also has to do with the fact that MOST gears in the market were Bitmain gears, also the fact that MicroBT gears usually come with different working modes unlike most of the Antminers, it makes reduces the need for custom firmware.

But as I said, I would love to see Firmware competition just as much as I love seeing hardware competition.

Same here. Biggest leap of trust I had was giving thierry access to my gear. Otherwise, I (like you) wait until others test them.

Check newest update from taserz:

WhatsMiner firmware soon to come. Big clients feel free to reach out as big clients will get to demo it before the public to prevent WM from trying to patch it.

@ thierry4wd. I hop you get out of hospital soon. As you know my wife got sick early in the year and she is getting better.  So I hope the same for you.

It is night fall I am going to try a different setting on the  t17+

As for good firmware bad firmware , dishonest firmware developers and honest firmware developers all for are out there.

My testing gear runs on a completely different network using optimum

while my mine is on Verizon.  Separation to the max .

All weird gear I buy runs on the optimum cable carrier. All new firmware runs there.

So if there is a hack it would less then 10-15% of my gear.

Anyone with 2ph of sha 256 gear or tons of other asics must consider some security.

big farms have multi networking. and should effort safety. smaller guys reading about this firmware should consider setting a test network via dual routers or something. to keep not
Oem firmware isolated from other gear.

That said

1_ hope thierry4wd gets better faster than my wife has taken
2_ the t17 is very good and has a 1% fee I give it my full recomendation
3_ the t17e is a work in progress
4_ the t17+ will need more testing I will try it tonight. and in a week or so I will try the other t17+

trying 675 freq and 1890mv

Hi, first of all thank you for the very helpful review! at the moment i'm very ill, staying in the hospital, i don't have too much time or strength at the moment: but i'm trying to follow a little ...

Sorry to hear that, hope you are feeling better now, stay strong and get well.

Concerning the T17 +, I am very surprised, because the mod is the same as on the T17, and I did not see any problem with it, can you tell me more about this strange behavior? I am very curious about this because very surprised!

This was my initial thought, I think a fair test should be done on a good stable gear for further analysis.

I have heard that Asic.World finally cracked the MicroBT gear and that the firmwares are ready. However, with what happened between chipless and him/them, I'd be careful before installing any of their firmwares as they are quite new to this afaik and they have no real reputation here.

Well Like I said the t17 is next to perfect 0 complaints .

The t17e the volts mod  and the fan mods work and it saves watts thus crashes less than the un modded t17e.

So it is incomplete but good for what was done.

The t17+ undertunes shows fail almost all the time.

I keep playing with it but can not get a good setting so far.

I did have a poor running t17+ So it could be the units issues not the firmware. I will try some more later today when the sun sets  (3 hours from now)

Chipless might be working on MicroBT firmwares as well, nothing is for sure, however, we could ask him on one of his threads.

[...]

I hope you get better thierry, as soon as possible. I might give you access to my S17 Pro and S17+ soon (as soon as I write down all the profiles from taserz firmware - I really do not want to waste month(s) again tuning them).
