Mostly got enough experience with a Ledger Nano S or the other version of this hardware wallet and it's a good option and worth the buck. As a Ledger user, I'll choose it over any other wallet.

But, I'd be happy to try other hardware wallet just for the purpose of checking it and curiosity. So, if you're an owner of Ledger nano s or x or Trezor, you can have a try to buy safepal if you have money to spare.

And if it's your first time to own a hardware wallet, it's recommended to own a Ledger wallet first.

Recently i have heard some minor issues people facing while using Safepal. Nothing much of concern but i think since it would be my first hardware purchase, i am thinking to buy Ledger. Though a bit expensive but could not risk my crypto for sure.

I think it is not about what wallet will be better than the other, but it is about how you can save the wallet from a thief, hacker, or even the damage. Even if you use the best wallet on the earth, but you can not save the wallet better, you will have the chance to lose your investment. You already read about what others said regarding Safepal or Ledger Nano S, so I guess you will know what wallet you will buy later. I select Ledger Nano S or X or Trezor because I do not know how good a Safepal wallet.

But since Ledger's shop has leaked a lot of customers' details, I would be also scared to buy anything from that shop, especially as in the last months they went from bad to worse in containing the damage.

I'm not even going to sugarcoat this because that breach was definitely immensely devastating and Ledger definitely should be ashamed, but anyone ending up not buying from Ledger and make their purchase on Trezor or Coldcard instead isn't safe either from such attacks either. It's literally an attack that everyone should be totally wary of on whatever web service they're using.

Well, we have to buy one hardware wallet even if we know its risky.  There is nothing in life which is 100$% non-risky. The only thing is that when choosing the wallet we can choose the best between the available hardware wallets.

Ledger Nano S  wallet has already very good repute but it is a bit expensive as compare to the newly launched SafePal hardware wallet invested by binance.
Which of these two wallet is more safe and if both have same features, its better to buy safepal wallet and save some dollars ?

I would not buy any of them and there are no winners here because both of this wallets are closed source and they have some big flaws.

Ledger is well known for it's multiple leaks of customer personal information and last one just happened few days ago like I wrote in my other topic Ledger Shop leaking info AGAIN?!
And ledger also leaked 1 million email addresses previously, and over 750k other customer information with full name, address and phone numbers, and if you are going to buy this then NEVER use your real information and follow this guide How to buy a Hardware Wallet the right way

Safepal is new hardware wallet sponsored by Binance, but it is closed source and security experts are just examining it for flows, with latest one being Kraken security labs that found some serious flaws and you can see that HERE!
They also stole other people GPL open source software and made it their own closed source and they have unknown secure element chip.
Cheapest price is also good indicator to show how good safepal wallet is (not), and this is few more things why Safepal is not good:

- No support for signing messages
- No mulltiple accounts
- No multi-sig support
- No coin control
- No desktop software

I would always go for open source hardware wallet if possible and this are your options currently:

Please note that Trezor doesn't have secure element so you must use BIP39 passphrase to make it safer, and same goes for Bithd who is using trezor open source code.
If you want hardware wallet for only Bitcoin than Coldcard would be your best choice.

Important thing to remember is that your seed words are more important than your physical hardware wallet device.

Any hardware wallet is better than no hardware wallet. The clear winner here is Ledger Nano S.

Nano S has better software, supports multi-sig transactions, and is most important to me - I trust it more.

Any company can make the mistake, it is Ledger Nano today does not mean it can not be Trezor tommorow.

Maybe I am not as forgiving as you are. The hack was bad and the steps done afterwards were disappointing.
Just days ago somebody complained about another problem with their shop - his details have ended up at another customer.
I don't think that others can make this many mistakes in a row.

Yes, it was not the small mistake which could be forgiven. People personal data was leaked which could be mis-used in many different ways. What if  other data like private keys would have been leaked and people would have lost their funds. I think it is also not safe to keep all the funds in hardware wallet. Keep some in hardware wallet, some ins desktop wallets, some in mobile wallets and very few in different online wallets.

I meant destop wallet as a wallet extension for hardware wallet, like the reputed and the recommendable electrum wallet, and also the ledger live desktop software.

While Electrum is very good, Ledger Live is not. I recommend the use of Ledger Live only for firmware and software updates. I've seen too many people surprised by it; sometimes it was only not sync-ed, sometimes it was worse. Safer to avoid from start when there is such a good alternative.

Any company can make the mistake, it is Ledger Nano today does not mean it can not be Trezor tommorow.

So there are lot of vulnerabilities in Safepal wallet and Ledger's data was leaked in last months, so where do we go ? There are not much options avaible when it comes to the hardware wallet and we have to choose between these or quit the idea of owning the hardware wallet.

You can buy from an official reseller. Or even better, read the steps you should do to buy safely and see if you can follow them.
Also, it's not only Ledger and SafePal, there are 2, maybe 3 alternatives from what I know.
The point is to secure your funds from anything - from hackers to the 5$ wrench. And that requires a bit of attention.

Although that I liked Safepal, I still prefer Ledger Nano S and a proud user here. But I was not one of those people whose emails are being compromised by the hackers because I just bought it directly from a good friend of mine as 2nd hand. To me, it’s the safest and most secured of all (unless I’m dumb enough to hand over the private keys lol).

I think it's really important to use well-established and reputable products when it comes to keeping your cryptos safe. Ledger is committed to keeping the coins safe, so I'd choose it over Safepal. Binance is an exchange, and exchanges aren't exactly famous for keeping users' money safe and in their hands, so even though it's a reputable company, I'd trust Ledger more over it. And besides, others already mentioned that apparently there are significant vulnerabities when it comes to Safepal (although the Kraken lab didn't find anything critical since they weren't able to steal the money).

You will like this post from dkbit98, as it is helpful to know how to buy hardware wallet safely without no connection with you personally.

- Use Tor or VPN when registering to website and install ad blocking extension like uBlock.
 - Use alternative or disposable e-mail address and new random password for registration.
 - Use alternative prepaid phone number and not your real phone number for registration.
 - Use crypto for payment, not connected with your real ID, or pay with cash in your local authorized reseller.
 - Use alternative or fake name for registration.
 - Use PO boxes or alternative address for delivery.
 - Do your own research

I heard somewhere that if we install a safepal software wallet on a phone , move the funds in that wallet and then disconnect the phone from the internet and keep it off,  it will still act as a hardware wallet as it is not online. I do not know how exactly this is true in theory ?
The SafePal is a hardware wallet on its own, the phone software is just an extention to operate the wallet hardware. I do not recommend the wallet, but hardware wallets are cold wallets, but not the wallet extention.

SN           Features                Ledger Nano          SafePal
1.       Desktop Software              Yes                       No

I own Ledger Nano and I would not use or recommend the desktop wallet.
Still, the hardware is pretty good, especially compared to Safepal, which is breaking GPL rules and have serious vulnerabilities.

First off, I haven't tried using Safepal, but I heard of it through Binance. Other than a quick skim over its features, I have no first-hand knowledge about it's actual operation. However, I guess it will become a trusted hardware wallet someday. It's just that it is a new entrant to the market. It has yet to create a solid reputation compared to Ledger which has been serving crypto fans for several decades with an almost unblemished record.

However, it should be noted that Safepal has integrated a lot of innovation to their hardware wallet. It's battery-powered, has a camera, a screen for the QR code, and so on. But I don't believe that it is fully air-gapped.

Not sure about you but personally, I wouldn't take the additional risk by using a not-so-reputable wallet just so I can save $30 or so. Think about it— even if you're holding just a few hundred dollars worth of bitcoin, it could be worth a lot more in the future. And you're not going with the far more reputable choice just to save $30?

I'll go with Ledger Nano S. I don't want to put my Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies in danger. I just rather pay a bit higher than losing all my Bitcoin.
Ledger is already proven and tested since the beginning. And addition, have you tried also to check Trezor? Maybe you can try to check it and change your mind.

If you check this, Kraken Security Labs founds flaws on Safepal hardware wallet: Kraken Security Labs Finds Flaws in Safepal S1 Hardware Wallet

I just found this comparison of 3 hardware wallets, Trezor, Leger, and Safepal here.
