The bitcoin blockchain is your safest place for bitcoin.   Cheesy

Seriously, the safest ways to maintain control of your bitcoin that is safely on the blockchain

1. A paper wallet protected from deterioration that is held inside a thick fire proof safe which is hidden inside a secret panel inside a wall in your house.

2. Trezor wallet that is protected inside a fire proof safe that is held inside a secret compartment within a wall in your house.

I shop lots of backup copies in the cloud storage.

I expect they are all encrypted ? ^^
In my own opinion, the safest way to keep bitcoins is to sell it immediately if the value of it will pump so in that way, we have a win win situation, that is my opinion because we all know that our bitcoins is not safe because the value of it can be decrease if we will hold it forever so for me if we have the oppurtunity for example the value of it will increase so dont hesitate to sell it because thats the right way.

According to me, everyone should secured their btc wallet with 2 step verification method. I am also using that. When i am going to login my wallet then coinbase  authority send me a email and i need to authorize via email that they are provide me. After that one verification code they will send you in my phone number that i provided. And finally when i input that code then ultimately i am able to login my wallet. I think this is the safest way to keep bitcoin.

You can use hard wallet but i recommend to exchange already your money then withdraw it because no one know exactly what will happen in bitcoin in the future.Bitcoin is good as digital money but the problem only here is the volatile price so i think invest your money in trading here but ready yourself when the bitcoin drop down or will be gone,it can happen anytime like in china they banned bitcoin in their country

For me the safest way to keep our bitcoins is dont post on social media sites, how much bitcoin is on our wallet, so if we do that i am sure that no one will knows it so no one will try to hack our wallet and it will be very safe because no people aside us will know how much bitcoins we have.

hello all,
I never heard about online wallet hacking.
How is there possible?

Sure all people have to keep safe their private key.

Brute force hacking with very long keys takes very very long time.
According to my understanding, the use of online wallet will be easy to hack and be appropriated by others. If they have network knowledge they can do this pretty easily. The internet environment is very extensive and the risk of intrusion is also high. They just created a virus program and somehow put it on your computer through the internet. One more thing, some online wallets do not provide private keys like coinbase, which is quite dangerous, you do not have the right to directly control your entire Bitcoin and the risk of you being stolen is not small.

Try registering to a secure online wallet like liqui.io. They have by far, the safest online wallet and exchange hub I know in the entire internet because they integrated google's two-step verification to their exchange and wallet. Try offline wallets too like myetherwallet.com. They have downloadable wallets that yoi can encrypt with a special code. You and only you have access to it.

only a properly created cold storage or a trusted hardware wallet.
you can search for some hardware wallets if you are not tech savvy or don't want to bother learning how tos and if you are willing to pay. things such as Trezor or Ledger nano would work.

or you can learn more about cold storage and do it yourself easily. like creating a paper wallet with tools such as https://github.com/pointbiz/bitaddress.org or make a Trezor like cold storage on your USB disk yourself

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Cold_storage

I would recommend you to use some hardware wallets.
You cab pay and get like Trezor or Ledger Nani.
To be added cold storage is an offline wallet which cannot be accessed you can even safer your bitcoin here also it cannot be hacked.
How ever you could even out an USB stick and hold your BTC there in offline mode, hacking is not possible in this way.

Safest way to keep bitcoins is to save them in your hardware wallet. but I my self save them in blockchain or coinbase online wallets. Though its not that safe like saving them into hardware wallets.

The are plenty of ways to make sure that you bitcoins are safe. If you want to store a huge amount of Bitcoin then I would recommend you to buy a hardware wallet. They aren't cheap but they provide convenient solution to both storing and using BTC at the same time. Your private keys will never leave your device so you don't have to worry about infected computer.

You must have a perfect storage of yours. Storage that no one can knows and has a high security on it. And you must take notes for you to remember anything that you need.
Hardware wallet like trezor is very good choice for this case. Actually if we can divide our bitcoin in several wallet to make it safer and practical. Safe big amount of bitcoin in hardware wallet and small amount of bitcoin in online wallet for our daily use is also good decision.

I would like to know too.
If I am planning on buying a respectable amount of bitcoins, is it 100% recommended to create a cold storage? although I know the method and how it works getting a computer for the
wallet only seems like a hassle.

The safest way to keep bitcoins is that you must be careful of password and private keys so that you are not prone in losing your account. There is also an offline storage for bitcoin so that is also a good option. You must store it as secure as possible. You must used a secured website that has many verification and pincode to log in so that you can avoid hackers.

Hardware Wallet[/b]
Hardware wallets are resilient to malware, and if you happen to lose the wallet you'll be able to recover the funds using a seed phrase.

If I understand correctly, the seed phrase for the ledger nano s consists of 24 words chosen from a list of 2048 words. If anyone with a ledger Nano s enters ‘my’ seed, they will gain access to my wallet. Is that correct? But the changes for that is 2048^24 = pretty slim.

I keep my nano s in a fire safe safe and have distributed the seed phrase in a raid5 manner across 3 books I keep in 3 different locations. I will need 2 of the books for the entire seed phrase.

Most reliable place has always been and will be usb device. Hacking and other methods of fraud not standing still, they can get in your computer at any time if they will want, so I advise you to store all important data, including account data from your bitcoin account in your usb device.
An electronic device may break down someday, you have to ensure that it always exists until you need Bitcoin. So, the best way is to back up your private key, do not let anyone know it by any method.
