Samsung is smart, they're going to make a huge profit building these hardware and also get some media attention for support blockchain and cryptocurrency adoption, it's a total win-win for Samsung.
Good news but sorry I may have to digress a little bit. I won't be surprised that news will start changing soon to positive from the negative ones we have had in recent weeks. Normally, institutions always win since they have all it takes to play with the psychology of investors. Took profit from the top, influenced the media, drove the price back down enough, bought back in and then voila, influence the media again, we start hearing news like Samsung investing into mining gadgets gradually and so much more to come, then we see FOMOs kicing to the moon once again. SMH!
Anyway, back to the main topic, I hope Samsung would come up with a better innovation with the mining gadgets though, most especially with electricity consumption and more efficiency. So good to start having strong players investing in the market.

It is a risky move by Samsung in a situation where the SK government might go against it.
Today I heard that Samsung is going to make bitcoin mining hardware especially Antminer S9 which I heard that they will name it as 'Samsung S9', with this act by Samsung everyone can understand that Samsung is in the favor of bitcoin and they will strongly support bitcoin. Almost all of the Samsung users will then know about this device and so more and more people will then know about bitcoin and the demand and the users of bitcoin will be increased too much.
This is indeed a great news,samsung is popular nationwide even here in our country most of the people here use this brand.I think this would be a be the step for bitcoin to be on the spotlight again since this big compay in favor with it.I can see a bright future waiting for bitcoin and i'm excited about it.
It is good to know Samsung is manufacturing chips for mining. And hopefully we have more choice for mining hardware. The antminer S9 has been out of stock for quite sometimes and pre order takes so long to deliver.

But still, it takes serious studies before a giant tech company produce chips for miners. They wouldn't invest if they can't market these tech. This will make high hopes for crypto investors that crypto isn't dead.

Thats really a good news.Earlier and even now bitmain the Chinese company dominates the bitcoin mining industry. Later GMO an internet giant of Japan said that it's going to invest millions of dollars in manufacturing bitcoin mining equipments.
Now Samsung a big name in electronic industry has announced to enter the market. It would definitely help decentralization of mining industry. But Samsung manufacturing antminers does not mean that all the Samsung gadget users would get familiar with bitcoin.

Couldn't find anything about samsung accepting bitcoin, nothing even close and the only link on google supporting that is this thread. Maybe it's more of a consideration than a solid statement. Tho I've found something interesting considering samsung besides bitcoin adoption.

It's the same name for their current flagship phone , S9 galaxy so it's too risky to have products share the name.
Besides they will be a direct competitor for bitmain not a partner.

It's doubtful that anyone having a mobile smartphone hasn't come yet across news about bitcoin.
They create computer's and laptops but I dont think they create and sell mining related technology. Yeah, it is possible to see that bitcoin market is very profitable and they have the advantage of being one of the best companies in the world but still I dont think they would create a mining hardware especially because of bitcoin

Yes, Samsung is more interested in business here. But this company is a global giant. They have a very strong lobby in South Korea as they are involved in producing military equipments as well as a strong player in electronics worldwide. So if they start producing mining hardwares, it will provide a very strong push towards the legalization of crypto currencies in South Korea which is the third largest market for cryptos.
So it is definitely a good news especially when the crypto prices are going down globally. If we see such kind of big corporations are producing crypto equipments and related technologies, it certainly provides some strong group to fight back.
I doubt they are going to be lobbying anyone. Remember that bitcoin mining is worldwide, and South Korea doesn't have cheap electricity, so the chances of mining operations being set up there is slim to none.
All that has happened is that they've seen an opportunity and have gone for it - their chips can be used in other situations, so it's win-win for them.

That's good to hear. New big brands are starting to slowly get into cryptocurrencies. Today they make some mining hardware and tomorrow they will end up mining and using crypto for themselves.
I dont think this could be real, samsung is a big international company and their products are not related to anything that includes mining or stuffs like that. That is the start from them. There is much more in this act from them. Samsung is a giant company and they are putting most of their potential in creating this hardware for bitcoin. Just think why a bigger company will create something for bitcoin if they will not believe on it. They believe on its future that is why they are planning for it.
I don't like that fact, if samsung develop antminers, there is a potential from other companies to follow samsung's steps and this will make a big monopoly in mining, greater than antminer has (do they really have? No).
