Was not paying attention to this thread so I'm back with a few information
This topic was created only for special edition Satochip cards, but thanks for bumping it, and maybe you are working on some new card designs Wink
I think there is another topic made by you guys that is used general discussion about Satochip products.

- For Satochip : DESKTOP ONLY (natively integrated with Sparrow Wallet, Uniblow Wallet and soon Electrum)
Sorry for saying this but I tried Uniblow wallet and I don't like it at all, nothing good to say about it.

Conclusion: you can use each cards with NFC but you will be only able to use Satodime with your mobile phone.
For now Wink

Hardware and open source software solutions.

Hi everyone...

Was not paying attention to this thread so I'm back with a few information:

- Our products are all based on the same smartcard and the same secure element.
- We have developed 3 different firmwares loaded on each card, each with a different design. Everything is opensource and can be found here: https://github.com/Toporin
- Cards are dual interface, meaning that they can be used with a chip card reader (contact interface) or with a NFC reader (contactless).

Smart cards need software to be used. To date, we have developed the following open-source software:
- For Satochip : DESKTOP ONLY (natively integrated with Sparrow Wallet, Uniblow Wallet and soon Electrum) + a 2FA mobile app that act as a detached screen to confirm, on your mobile phone, your TXs.
- For Satodime : DESKTOP and MOBILE
- For Seedkeeper : DESKTOP ONLY (we will release a mobile app in a few weeks).

Conclusion: you can use each cards with NFC but you will be only able to use Satodime with your mobile phone.

Feel free to reach our Telegram channel for more in-depth discussion about Satochip products and developments : https://t.me/satochip

Farewell, Leo. You will be missed!
It's not my Satochip app  Cheesy
You laughed too soon. I didn't say that the Satochip app was yours. Look again.
'Your' modifies the word 'recommendation', not the 'Satochip app'. In other words, 'recommendation' is the main noun of the noun phrase I wrote previously. 'Your' is a modifier or determiner of the main noun, 'recommendation.

Are you talking about the Satodime app that is available both for desktop and mobile or does your Satochip 2FA mobile app recommendation refer to something else?
It's not my Satochip app  Cheesy
This app is only available on mobile devices, unless you are using android emulators with installed Satochip 2FA app.
Satodime is different app for different product:
https://satochip.io/product/satodime/

This is the same open source Satochip 2FA app:

Another way to sort of have external screen for address/transaction confirmation is by using open source Satochip 2FA mobile app, it works good.
That way you are not going to have blind signing anymore with satochip.

I am thinking that it could be this:
Satochip 2-Factor-Authentication

The first result on Google (not an ad) takes me to this:
Satochip 2FA

Wow, these look absolutely awesome. I've known Tibu's products for a while, but never got one since I strongly advocate for hardware wallets with a display.
There is a way to have display with Satochip card format hardware wallet, but it won't be so cheap anymore.
I will write more about that soon in a different topic, so for now only decent alternative is maybe CoolWallet.

do you know whether it is possible to use a phone as NFC reader? A lot of smartphones nowadays have this functionality built-in, meanwhile laptops don't. It would be perfect if there was something like an open-source companion app that connects to Sparrow and lets someone use their phone as a reader.
I think that NFC reader on your phone should work fine, but to be sure better contact Satochip support for confirmation.
Pro tip: You can easily get cheap but good old Thinkpad laptops that already have integrated chip readers Wink

Wow, these look absolutely awesome. I've known Tibu's products for a while, but never got one since I strongly advocate for hardware wallets with a display. But if I had seen this earlier, I'd definitely have gotten a couple Satochip X Bitcointalk cards just for the design and playing around with it.

If not, I might give it a go myself, in case there are more Bitcointalk collabs in the future.. Wink

This one is a true keeper for 15 year anniversary of Bitcoin, and I didn't saw anyone making something similar before.
January 3 is in few days and lot more people will be talking about this soon.

We are soon approaching January 3, and exactly 15 years ago there was famous The Times Newspaper released.
My idea was to celebrate this event with Special Edition Satochip cards, and we came up with something interesting.

Information from this newspaper was included in original Bitcoin Block:

The Satoshi Edition Satochip has arrived, after waiting for over a week I finally have this card now.
Awesome--thanks for posting pics.  I guess there wasn't such a need for a holder as I originally thought, because it looks like the card is well-protected to begin with and on top of that they included one of those sleeves.  Very cool.  I don't think when I bought a regular Satochip that I got a sleeve included, but I used a Ballet wallet plastic snap-shut case and it fits perfectly.

And now I'm kicking myself for not realizing there were more cards in the series than just the first.  It sucks not having a friggin' brain sometimes, I swear.

The design and quality of the card is quite good and the details are quite clear as shown before.

My final thoughts are on this special edition card.  Cool

I will see what we can do about that, but I guess we all first need blessing from Foxpup herself, and than you need to tell me how many cards you would like to order in total.
It's best to send me PM with more information about that, or I will forget about it during upcoming holiday season.
I will do so soon--and I'm curious as to whether any other members of the esteemed Cycling Club campaign are interested in this.  Truth be told, I don't even know how many there are.  At the gatherings it's so damn hard to see through the ballroom mask.

So you already own Satochip cards and you tested how they work?
You quoted me but it looks like you said it (just saying).  But yes, I bought a regular Satochip sometime last year I think along with the card reader, and I like it a lot.  The only thing I don't care for is that you need to use an old version of Electrum....and I'm not sure if there's a workaround for that or not.

I would absolutely do that.  There needs to be something permanent and collectible to commemorate the Club, Foxpup, and our Bacchanalian gatherings by the full moon's light.

Seriously.  A Satochip would be the perfect way to do that.

Huh, didn't know that.  I bought a card reader a while back for the Satochip I got and thought it was a proprietary thingee.  Then again, I don't think I have anything that would be able to read one, so it turned out to be necessary.  Good thing they aren't expensive, which surprises me in a good way.

I think that only few more bitcointalk special edition cards are available, but only with quote #4, all others are out of stock.

I'd love to see a Merit Cycling Club Satochip card, and I'd tried designing one myself on their website but it came out like crap.  Just thinking aloud.
Not impossible, maybe we can make some limited collaboration project, but you need to be ready to put your money on the line, and that is currently only around 0.0008 BTC for one card, I think you are getting much more than that from Foxpup Wink

Card readers are cheap, but they are not mandatory at all.
If you have laptop with correct card reader you can use them with Satochip cards, I know for sure that older Thinkpad T series are compatible and everything works fine.

Small correction, it's not your account, it's Satoshi account being printed on this limited edition cards Wink
Oh my bad, I thought that the Satoshi card was actually a prototype to portray how it'd look. It would be fascinating if you could print your own account details on your card, for an extra surcharge, of course, since every card would be 100% unique and custom-made. They still look magnificent the way they are, though.

€15 for a card reader is quite affordable; even if you purchase the regular Satochip card along with the reader, it's still more affordable than purchasing a hardware wallet from the two known brands out there. It's a bargain, especially for those who have the integrated card reader; you're practically getting a hardware wallet for as little as €25.

These look stunning! They also seem like a great and affordable alternative to the usual hardware wallets out there, while having a one-of-a kind unique card with your account printed on it.

One question, though: is the chip card reader mandatory in order to use the wallet? Some laptops, including mine, have an integrated chip card reader. Have you ever tested your card in one of these?

It's also nice to see free shipping without tracking, which is quite a pain in the ass, but the tracked option isn't too expensive either, at €8.50 for Greece. The privacy issue another user mentioned is easily solveable. There's a reason for P.O. boxes or not using your full address; the parcel will still be delivered to the local post; you'll just have to pick it yourself.

I don't know who this Satochi guy is, and your ironical comment makes no sense, but I can arrange for special card with your profile name to be created and sent to random user for ''doxing'' purposes.
Lol, I don't know why he posted that; it sounded as dumb to me as it did to you.  Speaking of dumb, I didn't realize there would be more cards available, else I would have paid attention to the ones that came out after the first series.  I definitely would have bought the one with Satoshi's statement about lost coins.  I've made more than my share of "donations" to the bitcoin community (though Satoshi himself no doubt made the mother of all donations of lost coins, assuming the genesis block coins never move).

I'd love to see a Merit Cycling Club Satochip card, and I'd tried designing one myself on their website but it came out like crap.  Just thinking aloud.

Hello,

I'm pleased to announce that we have released the complete collection.

This Bitcointalk forum 14th anniversary edition is a limited edition of 4 Satoshi Nakamoto famous quotes you can find in this forum.
Only 5 cards of each quote has been printed and loaded with the Satochip (hardware wallet) applet. A true collectible!
-snip-
A few days ago, I was curious and tried to find the Satoshi quotes listed on the Bitcointalk 14th anniversary edition of Satochip; Four were on the Bitcointalk forum, and one more was on the P2P foundation website. Here is the link to the quote:

#1
-snip- If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
#2
Lost coins only make everyone else's coins worth slightly more.  Think of it as a donation to everyone. -snip-
#4
-snip- why delete a wallet instead of moving it aside and keeping the old copy just in case?  You should never delete a wallet.
