Did not notice the earlier higher bid...

Changing bid to 1.75 BTC for next week's ad.

I accept both of the most recent two bids, assuming bit365 is wanting to advertise his sportsbook.

Haha, yea Doog. Please don't take it like I'm saying 'ooooh you stole my ideas you owe me money' crap. And I agree, the ideas suggested were quite obvious... Making the refusal to even validate the as a potential addition to satoshi dice ...more frustrating.

But of course the advertising isn't at it's peak value right now. It needs road testing, a proven track record (with positively affected advertisers returning and competing with other new or returning advertisers) generating far better auction outcomes. Which of course also goes hand in hand with site development, growing user base etc.

I strongly feel your demographic isn't just other gambling sites... Big wins = 'expendable cash'/ 'pure profit' in the eyes of many gamblers (despite past wins/losses) - obviously not universally true, but certainly does occur.  So once a gambler wishes to takes their winnings, they're like 'hey I've got like $200 for free now... bitcoinstore.com??? okay I'll buy that over 9000 gb SSD I've been thinking about.

ditto for any btc stock exchanges...Hey I won shitloads... maybe I'll invest now!?

Having a site thats basis is money really really really does open advertising doors to you..because anybody advertising is doings so to attract those A: with money B: would spend on xyz product/service.

I think you might want to consider advertising your advertising...and site of course lol. Maybe even consider putting a bid in for http://bitcoinity.org/markets? ad space where I originally was captured by the strong potential for success and overall beneficial nature of it to the bitconomy idea.

I like the way you roll man. I'll try pm you some of the other potential features to add to your TO-DO list. It's good that you've got one, unlike the other I've been used to which was 1. in bold "fuck this shit up'.

/end my project procrastination.

I said "only 1 BTC" not meaning it isn't much, but that it isn't much relative to the 500k BTC turnover of the site.

Wait, you made 500k BTC from Just-Dice? o_O

Ha, no.  The site is still running at a loss.  Over 500k BTC wagered.  Total profit: minus 136 BTC...
The difference is even 1 BTC per week, that is pure profit and purely to your pocket for the sites upkeep. 1 BTC not so bad when you have made almost nothing from commission so far due to variance

Hey, Doog. I don't think you should scrap the ad idea. It just needs alternate implementation. Perhaps the 'advertise with us' link should just go to another page that accepts your Email, Bid and banner. Then displays that as an ad leader board on that page...With the email provided obviously as a means of notifying the winner that they have x hours to pay before it rolls to the next bidder.

I'm not sure what initially made you create just-dice, but are you using the suggestions I came up with in the SD thread? (Not implying you shouldn't, I'm happy that chat, ads, accounts etc. are being used when they're such obvious additions to the game). I was really hoping I'd be able to start on something like this as soon as my I.T degree finishes this semester but alas, I feel it would be a waste as i have little forum credibility along with a delayed start. Oh well, there are still plenty of ideas that can grow from Bitcoins fertile soil yet.

Anyway I was just going to say, I've got a few other ideas to share that I feel would boost the sites users and revenue for just-dice.  So if you wanted, please  just get in touch with me with a PM.

I said "only 1 BTC" not meaning it isn't much, but that it isn't much relative to the 500k BTC turnover of the site.  When people are making massive bets over and over, 1 BTC per week seems like noise...

I'll see how the auction goes over the next couple of weeks, and consider switching to the leaderboard idea.

I'm not aware of using your ideas from the SDICE thread, although I certainly read your posts.  I think things like ads and chat are pretty much obvious things to do.  I put the ads up because I was nagged into doing so, and chat just makes a site more "sticky".  I initially made the site because I thought the "investment" idea was just too good not to implement, and wanted to see how it worked out.  Maybe I should revisit the SDICE thread and see if there are more ideas worth borrowing (as if I don't already have a huge list of things to implement on the site)...

It's not profit, it's just the turnover.

are there any content restrictions on what you will/will not advertise or can it be anything?
Considering it mostly gamblers there, I would wonder the usefulness of putting anything not gambling related there.

That goes both ways.  It's pointless to advertise non-gambling services, since all the audience is gamblers, but I don't really want to advertise the competition (ie. gambling services)...

I guess the audience is all into Bitcoin, so any non-gambling BTC service would be ideal.

I'm wondering if it's even worth selling ad space.  If the auction only brings in 1 BTC per week, maybe it's not worth it.
Charity starts at home and Dooglas still has not made any profits to even pay his server costs yet.  1 BTC per week will help with that.

"only 1 BTC per week"  ONLY? ._. , you might profit a lot more off your casino, but that's quite a lot.

Maybe you can donate the ad profits. Some people will pay more if it's going to a charity or something

This is partly why most advertising is not sold via weekly auctions. Relationships provide mutual stability and efficiency, among other things.

I think as the service gets more popular, the value of the space will increase also.  I think as long as you avoid any similar games (mainly bitcoin dice games), displaying other bitcoin gambling games is fine and those advertisers likely to pay the most for the banner space.  I know I checked out bitbet and even used the site for a couple wagers since I saw it on J-D.  However, that a totally different type of gambling that playing dice.  It slow motion while dice is ultra fast.

Doog, I do not think anyone realized you were running the auction this week.  You should post a new 24 hour auction every week to get the best price.  Traffic only going up and it the right type of traffic, gamblers

The auction is always running.  I'm going to make each one end at midnight UTC on Sunday night, the same time as the commission run.  The bitarena ad will run for another 7 days, and then I'll switch it for the highest bidder as of midnight UTC in about a week's time.
