thanks for the advices.
In fact, I don't have only LTC and BT
I've also some ETH, LSK, XRP, OMG, ARK & ARDR
But, LTC represents 35% of my portfolio and BTC 19%
That's why I was wondering if I did not have too much LTC

I say yes, sell the Litecoin and get Bitcoins. But maybe not just all of them because sometimes it's good to diversify the investments and Litecoin isn't bad coin although doesn't have such potential as Bitcoin. You might also include ETH in your portfolio but still keep the majority of funds in Bitcoin, that is still the most profitable.

Litecoin is much fluctuate than bitcoin and it's value is not prominent to convert for bitcoin we have so none of the people will concentrate to sell the bitcoins for ethereum or BCH. These are much look faced coins in altcoin section.
Instead of doing just he can hold it sometime and it's value also will increase without any issues.

Ltc is in top 10 of all coins, so its a relatively safe bet. I'm holding some, I have no intention to sell anytime soon.

Not a good idea to sell Litecoin if you already lose profit.. if you really wanted to make profit better to hold it for a long time..
Looks at coinbase is also supporting litecoin so i think there is potencial that lite can be increase value like ethereum ..

Like other said just diversify your your investment.. don't focus only in litecoin and bitcoin..
You can also try dash, zcash and ETH because mostly miners are mining this altcoin and they are supporting this if the price increase sell it because most miners are selling their holdings if they seen the price was increase..

You are only holding two coins in your portfolio which is not quite good way to invest. You have to diversify your investment into multiple alts like ETC, ETH, BTC, LTC, XMR and also hold some in fiat (USD) to buy more when there will be dump.

Invest in some good project during ICOs to get maximum profit after few months.

Hi all,

I'm kind of a newbie in the crypto-currencies world, but quite fascinated in fact...
I started to create my own portfolio of currencies (small one, 2500€ to start), where BTC represents 20%, and LTC 35% (and some loss, right now :-( )
So, I wonder if I should not trade some of my LTC for BTC

Or buy more BTC if we think it should raise and hold my LTC...

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Olivier
PS : sorry for any languages mistakes, english is not my first language

Sell your LTC and buy Bitcoin will become the right step you have. LTC is bad investment/ trading ( for me ), because they doesn't has significant price moving and low volume. See again their history, even LTC can survive until now but for me is not the right coin to invest/ trade. Thank you.

I would sell 10 LTC and buy bitcoin before 25th October, then you can sell you bitcoin when it hits 5500 USD. So you can compensate some loss. How many loss do you have made? So we can calculate it better.

When I bought it, I had approx 15.2 LTC for 900€, so 58€/LTC - value is now 680€ (-23%) - not a huge loss, and I still think it can go up.
I bought them for mid/long-term: most of you (and what I read) seem to think I should keep them.
But I don't know what their prices could be in 2 years.

So maybe I will sell some other altcoins to buy BTC.
Or just buy BTC: not one, unfortunately, but maybe for 500€ (590$)

thanks,

I bought my litecoin around March ending this year for about $4.5 and someone on this thread thinks Litecoin has not risen or it does not have potential? Litecoin has been a very stable coin but not without growth. If you want to trade normally, you may as well not go for Litecoin, but for a long term holding, Litecoin is good enough and I would not trade what I have for now anyway. Who knows? After all, it isn't hurting my wallet. I feel OP should just do what is best for him. Either you buy bitcoin or keep litecoin, I don't think you will regret any of the decision you end up making.

You can say that Litecoin doesn't have a potential but still, the price increased by ~20 in 6 months about. Bitcoin never did this. Litecoin is not a crypto to make a profit in a short period of time, it is the type of crypto that you keep for at least 1-2 year.

If you were thinking about a short-term plan then it may be better to sell your litecoin, but for the long run, keep your coins, forgot about them and come back to see after a few months.

If I were in the shoes of the OP, I would have split my initial investment in more cryptocurrencies, from 5 to 10.

That's good strategy which other cryptocurrencies do you chose? Maybe OMG, LSK, Neo, XRP, …

Do you think that Bitcoin Gold will have the half value than Bitcoin Cash or will it be higher?

As the above comments LTC does not have too much  potential  and trust of traders, why don't you think of investing in an Altcoin other not LTC. I recommend investing in AVT or NEO and let God know you.

I would keep some litecoin but I would perhaps re-arrange your portfolio, maybe swap it around to have 35% btc and 20% ltc, I think this is a better bet for the future as I believe btc has a better horizon than ltc.

i think better you keep holding your litecoin, the ceo of litecoin now focus at litecoin and leaving coinbase, with this fact i think litecoin can rise again, but i dont know when the rise come.
im holding altcoin too, ethereum classic and ethereum, if i compare to valueable (dollar) i lost arround $1000 and now im still holding it waiting the price rising again and earning a lot profit than holding bitcoin.

even if I have lost money with LTC right now?
Try to compensate the loss by a raise with BTC?

thanks

You probably lost money wit Litecoin because it, for whatever reason, does not follow the patterns that Bitcoin does. For example, the previous exponential rise say Bitcoin multiply by more then 5 times its initial value, whereas Litecoin barely rose at all. This is not what normally happens... most cryptos rise with Bitcoin. I am not sure why Litecoin does not, but if I were you I would sell LTC for BTC right now.

Just choose that suits you.
for now we should see Bitcoin bullrun, which mean everday or everytime Bitcoin price will increase.
if Bitcoin price increasing every altcoins should be drowning.
which mean Litecoin price will drop even further from now on.
if i was you i will sell my Litecoin and buying Bitcoin for now.
when that time comes (i think it's the peak),i will sell it and then buy it again(Litecoin).
Bitcoin price increasing and Litecoin price decreasing, you sell it at the peak and can buy litecoin more than before, right?
but sometimes you will see Litecoin price increasing with Bitcoin.
for now the safest way to increase your portfolio is buying Bitcoin, most of Litecoin users came from chinese.
while chinese right now doing a drama which is not good for the price

litecoin price has been stable compared to many other altcoins and it has a lot of potential to rise and actually there is a good chance to have a big pump in near future.

in any case if you feel uneasy holding LTC then sell it, remember that it is always better to have your mind at ease rather than invest and have the stress of holding something.

but you don't have to sell all of it. you can sell some until you reach a level that you are more comfortable with.

It's good to hold bitcoins if you want to see good $$ Figures in your portfolio. Infact i always advise people to keep oscillating and always think profits in term of USD not coins figure, IMO LTC will fall significantly once more before rocketing.
