I'm a week into this whole bitcoin thing so be easy on me. I wonder why you would ever sell a BTC ... For example: you buy 100 dollars worth of BTC but the price drops drastically. Why would you sell it when its that low? You KNOW it's going to go up again. You could wait a month (for example), the price will be up again. Or am i totally wrong here?

Well, Actually this is how bitcoin and investing work. You have to buy bitcoins with money when it drop and sell it when it increase. Last month the price was something 3000$,i bought some bitcoin and now its price is $5000+. So what you think isn't its profitable ?  Indeed, the selling of bitcoin at any point give you profit and thats the real good news for traders and even holders of bitcoins.

You're not wrong about this, because bitcoin fluctuates so we think you're right. Sometimes people feel panic when bitcoin prices drop by up to a few percent, but still sell it even though they lose because they tend to fear bitcoin does not return to its original price. This is called panic selling.

Right. Panic selling happens when the price of bitcoin dumps down and have fear that it will wont increase the price again. It happens because of the thought to lose the money. It is better to hold bitcoin and wait for the price to increase again. People loses their profit when having fear on the price dumps.

Hey  Smiley
At the end people who invest in the bitcoins needs money offcourse so if god forbid any situation arrise where there is a need of money and there isn't any way and you are dying to earn even a dollar, I don't think in a situation like that people think about all this.
They sell when the price is low offcourse because they need money, if they weren't in the need of it then the situation would have been so different till now and no one would mind holding onto their bitcoins till the time they reach millions^
And if someone is struggling nothing makes sense anymore thus I can find no technical answer to your questions its just that should the need arise.. people will obviously use what they have rather than ask from Someone else.

Also some people do panic selling when they think the Price is going to drop soon and it won't get up again like before..^ everyone has their own thinking that one can't control.

Usually bitcoin sales at low prices by newcomers in bitcoin, looking at charts or downward market moves then they are usually straightforward to sell bitcoins with lower price assumptions and fear of losing more. Here the instincts of each bitcoin trader and the trader's experience take part. Cool

You are saying this because you are new. When you will get into this whole bitcoin thing you will realize that the prices keep on fluctuating and you have to sell to buy at a lower price. Moreover some people of this forum.use this as their main source of income so they have to convert it into fiat for daily expenses.

People sell their bitcoin when the price goes down because they panic, some people like to spread FUD and then they believe it and think the price is going to crash and not recover in a long time, then they sell, only to realize that the change in price was just a temporary thing and now are faced with a difficult choice to buy bitcoin again and lose more money or to wait for the price to go down again taking the risk bitcoin goes up once again.

You may be right. The truth is that no one know for sure if Bitcoin will keep rising forever. But besides the panic sellers that won't see anything other the "iminent fall", there are those that sell low to buy even lower and increase their profit. If we are in a high and the there is a correction coming soon, you may sell when there is a 5% drop to rebuy after another 10% drop; It's a valid strategy if you know what you are doing.
You must sell your bitcoin if the price goes up and we all know that the price of bitcoin is not stable so that do not panic if the price of bitcoin is goes down. You must wait for the right time sell your bitcoin when the price of bitcoin is too expensive because it may result of a high income.

No I think you're not wrong. Yes there are some who easily panic because of the downward price, and nothing good really came when you worry too much. Now if they are doing it over and over again, at least you realize what to do when it happens, those people just let their emotions run over them.

My advice to you is not to sell bitcoins unless and until it's a matter of emergency of utmost importance.
Because if you sell your bitcoins now you may have to regret it in the future. We can clearly make out that bitcoin is gaining fame and more and more people are acknowledging about it.The more bitcoin is put into use the more value does it gain.So don't sell your bitcoins rather try your best in holding it.

the reason I sell bitcoin is very simple where the current bitcoin price again rising fit me again need funds for my open I sell bitcoin splash that I need at that time as an example I can say that if you do not have something kebutuhaan to sell bitcoin in price again soar high
If the current price of bitcoin is OK for you means, you can blindly sell your holding bitcoin. But you no need of money now for any emergency or financial problems means, you can hold till this month end.At this month end the price may reach 6500$.So of you want more dollar means, you can wait or else sell the bitcoin.

Bitcoins for many people is an asset/ investment that would give them profit in future.
Every guy investing in BTC keeps a limit after buying them that when will he convert them to their fiat , after they see that they got sufficient profit out of the fluctuating value they sell BTC .
It is right that BTC eventually grows in long term but if we go with this then no one will sell BTC hoping for them to keep increasing .

What's the point if you don't circulate the market, if everyone just HOLD there would be no trading and it would just panic crash when somebody decide to let it all go. But op is right though as BTC currently REALLY DOES back up easily when it drops, it just that your portfolio would be less profitable as you bear all the losses and gain only after it reaches over your buying price, not to mention the time used for recovery and most importantly, opportunities are wasted.

Actually I don't sell in dump. But many trader sell btc in dump. There asre two reasons behind it.They are in profit and they want to sell defore dip then they will rebuy in DIP. Others reasons they are panic seller. They don't know market of btc in future and they don't want to sell more low that's why they sell btc in dump. You are right,if they hold few days price will rise again.

We have different choices in life, and the reason why there are people who are selling bitcoin even if they knew that they are not going to have any profits in return is because they are scared to lose even more, so instead of waiting for another PUMP, they've panicked and just sold their bitcoin in a very low price. Lucky you if you are not a panic seller and just holding your bitcoin no matter what is happening on the market.

Mostly this huge price drop that is happening is just a whale, people who are scared will sell, and the whale will be the one who is going to be benefited by this because he is the one who is going to buy all of that bitcoin and going to wait for another PUMP to have big profits out of it.

Yes there's nothing wrong with your thinking. If you think bitcoin is going to rise all the way, then why not just hold it all the way? Why bother to take the small profits. Just ride the up and down waves and go for the big money instead

There may be reason that they are selling it because they need the funds in fiat, but why are you going to sell something if the value just went down knowing that there is a high chance of it going high again.

It's much better if you will just consider that whole amount was lost rather than selling it for a lower price. by doing that you still have a chance of gaining back your investment.
