at best the card is dead.  and not one of the boards.

I have 4 s-1's and no swapping   of cables or psu's gets that bottom light to come on.

I have to think the card is dead. I would prefer a complete and new machine ,

but if he ships me a controller/ethernet card I could swap it.  I have a lot of tools and parts.

I sent an email to sushi-review for help on this as it truly appears to be a dead part.

Problem with a new machine is 4-5 days at least missing mining while you send it back to get a return.  And you gotta pay to send it back, the faster you want them to get it the more it cost.  damn

well I will wait for a reply .  in the meantime I may go to this seller as he is usa based

really sucks as each day I lose about  .024 btc.

So far about 1 day fri to sat.  if he sends me a part and I get it on tue. or weds.

I lose  4 or 5 days at .024 btc a day that is around .1 to .120 btc.

I will await an answer.  right now bitmain has them for 1.37

and of course this thread opens

got my third and fourth machines today one works fine the other seems to have a dead ethernet card. any info on trouble shooting it, thanks

yeah fairly desperate .
Dead (no lights) or dead doesn't seem to respond?

Probably not the reason but:
If 2 have the same IP address only one will of course work.

Also another probably not the reason but:
If the router providing DHCP address has run out of addresses ... ?

no lights. in the other 3 when you power up some small leds light on the ethernet jack.  this one the leds never lite.

I just can't contact it to program it.   I should have enough  addresses  I have about 40 used on the router

Check that all the ribbon cables are plugged in snug.

yeah  i did that.  I also removed all the ribbon cables from the dead machine. swapped them to the good machine.  the ribbon cables worked on the good machine.

I then took the good cables from the good machine used them on the dead machine and the port lite does not come on.

dead one

good one

this small under lite works on all the good ones never lites up on the bad one.

Hmmmm...doesn't sound good.

I would say RMA it.

Scam-Busting PSA: Beware of Black Arrow Software
First, using vi editor to edit the asic_freq file is no fun. vi is really awkward. If you have never used it before, open a cheat sheet and familiarize yourself with it before trying to edit the configuration file.
http://www.lagmonster.org/docs/vi2.html

If you just want to jump in easily you can actually install Nano from the web interface really quickly, it has a considerably lower learning curve (for me anyway). Glad you got yours fired up quickly, they're great pieces of kit.

http://www.lagmonster.org/docs/vi2.html

After changing the settings, one of the two blades seemed to go offline. I was hashing at half speed!
Panicking, I went back and restored the original settings in the asic_freq file.
Still hashing at half speed.
Long story short and after a lot of hair pulling and system reboots and powering off and then back on, I re-entered the overclocking settings and decided to try something weird.
I am using TWO PSUs because I did not want to splice and cut power cables and mess with the black and red connectors (so I am using only the two 6-pin PCI-e power connectors on the S1).
I switched PSUs! So the one connected to the non-responsive blade was now connected to the responsive one and vice versa.
Eureka!
Happily hashing at close to 200 GH/s!!

That's why I don't mess with multiple PSU's anymore...they may be a nominal solution however definitely not as trouble free as a single PSU.

Hey kano,

Don't suppose you've had a chance to look at the antminer cgminer thing yet my man? Just wondering what your thoughts are buddy..... Smiley

Peace.
I've started on it ... it's compilable in my git, but I now have to sort out cross compiling it and then fixing it if (when) it doesn't work on my ant Wink
It will also need a little more tidy up to make it report things the same as the other drivers.
Then there'll be an obvious change or two to improve it.

Gotta say, it had some weird crap in there.
Was a real hack and slash getting rid of that.
(my changes so far are quite large even though they don't really do much - just trying to turn it into a proper cgminer driver)

One rather annoying thing I found in the code:
As I mentioned before it has the worst reject % of all the devices I have ... well ... it lies about the reject % ... it's even higher.
The driver was intercepting stale shares (if it worked out that any were stale) and made them disappear rather than count against the already high reject count .........
Obviously you can't know 100% in advance if a share is going to be rejected by the pool, but this code is designed to pick up some, if they are a bit later, and make them disappear.
https://github.com/bitmaintech/cgminer/blob/master/driver-bitmain.c#L912

Edit: actually they'd probably count against the stale count, not the reject count, but still represents late work.

In the newer version 1.4 of the Antminer S1 180Ghz, it appearead new 6-pin white connector   between red/black power supply connector and SN label.
I would like to know what is its purpose. Is it standard 6-pin power supply PCI-E power connector? Can I use it for connecting to the power supply by usual 6-pin PCI-E cable?
Yes, makes life a lot easier Smiley

Received my S1 today, looked at the GRND and PWR connectors and the 6-pin ATX PCI-e connector and scratched my head.
ATX PSU I have has only one 6-pin power cable.
Ended-up using two PSU's !! Will be trying to overclock later, so the extra power may be helpful!
Maybe someone needs to update page 1 of the thread: if you use the 6-pin PCI-e connectore, then you do not need to use the red/black power connectors, to eliminate confusion of newbies like me Smiley

Dear, friends!
I paid "AntMiner Hosting 2-month" february 21, 2014.
I send message with url, worker and password, but hosting not work!!!
What to do? Huh

Did you actually buy the miners before buying the hosting plan?

They will only host miners you have purchased as far as I know and from what I have heard only sushi does this.

I buy only hosting! (sorry for my english Wink)

Yeah, I don't think you understood correctly.

From what I know (I could be wrong) hosting is only offered for miners that you have bought from them.
