My antminer s1 arrives tomorrow and i still dont have a power supply.

Will this power supply work with it?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sumvision-500W-Quiet-Silent-ATX-PC-Power-Supply-Unit-PSU-500-Watt-with-SATA-/201043054980?pt=UK_Computing_PowerSupplies_EH&hash=item2ecf199184

If not can someone recommend a similarly price one that will work from ebay!

Thanks

Good brand, next day delivery if you order before 11pm

None of the sub £40 PSU's will be any good mate, don't even try it.

Is there any reason why cgminer consumes so much of the poor control router's cpu cycles, and if not can it fixed? I also wished the unit allowed for better control of the fan profiles. It seems odd that on some of my units the fan spins higher even though the temps are lower than some of the units with lower fan speeds.

I too have the latest firmware on two of my units and I see no obvious improvement in any stats as compared to the previous version.

In Bold, I'm having this too.

Maybe it's improper mating of the heatsinks? Or inaccurate temperature sensors?

No, that is junk and won't work.
Does it have to be eBay?

I don't have any problems with mine either on the latest firmware.  My S1 is a revision 1.5.
It may behoove everyone on the thread if the guys having problems (and the ones that don't) with the new firmware list their board revision numbers.  It could be specific to older S1s.

I tried it on a v1.5 with problems - didn't try it on anything else after that  Wink
My original AntMiner, cgminer runs CPU 99/100% ...
It says: cgminer 3.4.3-1
My ants are cgminer 3.12.0-1 and they also run at 100% cpu. I don't think the newest firmware update affects cgminer at all though, but I'm not going to try installing it again.

I am running the latest firmware on early and late ant's, and do not have any problems, nor do I get any reboots, he CPU is maxed on the last two firmware releases running cgminer but it still does the job even if the web interface is slow and hash rate at the pool is unchanged.

What I have found is that the instance of cgminer is very sensitive to network and power problems, it causes all manner of issues.

You must set up the all the network correctly, LAN, WAN and WWAN or the cgminer process spends a lot of it 3 minutes of life waiting to be killed and restarted by the daemon.

Power is also problematic, it needs clean uninterrupted power to keep the error rates down, 'X's to a minimum, and stop weird reboots. I can get ant's to run on some power supplies at low wattage then move the connectors to the end of a cable and experience higher error rates, 'X's and reboots. What I have found is that the better power supplies are simply better.

I've had problems on 2 different miners. Both have V1.2 (2013/12/4) Controller boards, but the hashing boards are 2013/12/1 and 2014/1/4. Both were disconnecting randomly... I didn't stick around to test anything after the 5th time it happened.

Greeting guys/gals,

I just updated one of my S1's to the latest firmware no problem, but I just noticed cgminer is now hogging the cpu (90 - 100%) - is this a known issue & any idea how to cure it?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.......

Peace  Grin

I can confirm that the latest firmware antMiner_openwrt20140207.bin is a pile of crap.

100% cpu usage by cgminer. Miner reboots randomly.

Reverted back to antMiner_openwrt20131226.bin, but still have ultra high cpu usage by cgminer.

Don't they test this stuff before releasing it...... Huh

I'm knocking on wood over here.  I haven't had any problems like that.  I have noticed a decrease in HW.

Yeah, same experience here... I was saying that a couple of days ago. My miners would just randomly disconnect and start beeping and I'd have to either open my browser or reboot them to reconnect and nothing would show in the log... strange. I've reverted back to the old firmware and had no problems since.

Kano, there's a tip in there from me too if you manage to sort this mess out Wink

Maybe Bitmain might throw something your way... I'm sure it'll improve the overall profit margins in their "burn-in" facility...

From
Confused.

Hi.  I'd recommend you plug-in directly.  i.e. Ethernet plug from your computer to the Antminer.

Go back and read the whole set-up thread again.  Not trying to be a jackwagon... just trying to help.

You might want to RESET your Antminer(s) by using the small button (labelled S2) on the Antminer blade that has the WiFi attached to it.  It's small but you can find it if you look for it.

On the newer v 1.2 boards 12-4-13 it is labeled S2. It resets the ip of the machine to  192.168.1.99

I am confuse with this step :

Start Button  >>  Control Panel  >>  Network and Internet (View network status and tasks)  >>  Change adapter setting (Left side of the screen)  >>  Local Area Connection (Double Click)  >> Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) then Click on “Properties”  >>  Select Use the following IP address:

Please look at near the cooling fan on the AntMiner.  You’ll find a white sticker with an IP address printed on it.  (Example: 192.168.2.125)

Set your computer's IP address to the following:

IP Address: 192.168.2.254
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.2.1

For the DNS Setting:  Select “Obtain DNS server address automatically

So if the sticker on my antminer said 192.168.1.99

So i will adjust my laptop ipaddress to the following :

IP Address: 192.168.1.254
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

so far am i correct?

Try 8.8.8.8 for your dns

I have tried changing that too. But it still does not hash.

My default gateway for the wireless network connection is    192.168.0.1

subnet is 255.255.255.0

does this stop my antminer from connecting to the net?

What do you in your IPv4  broadcast?  I had to place a .255 in there.  So yours would look like 192.168.0.255.

I had to do that for all 4 of mine.  Hope that works.

my IPv4 is 192.168.0.3
So meaning i have to switch my current setting from lan from

IP Address: 192.168.1.254 >>>>>>> 192.168.0.254
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1>>>>>> 192.168.0.1

No.  The ip address is the address of the miner.  So leave that alone.

IPv4 address - miner address

IPv4 netmask - 255.255.255.0

IPv4 gateway - the wireless router address

IPv4 broadcast - 192.168.0.255 (in your case)

Use custom DNS servers - 8.8.8.8

So if you change the miner address remember.

Is your miner hashing?

no, still not hashihg at all

you said change your IPv4 settings back to obtain an IP automatically after you set up your Ant?

Where can i change it?

OK, wait, I am a bit confused.

Did you manage to set your Ants settings to start mining?
Does it have access to the internet?
Can you ping google.com? to make sure your Ant has internet access
