ripple is dead and will stay dead this banking shit means nothing for the PRICE of ripple, nor does any MS connection.  maybe it will help re. the development of what the coin will offer but otherwise it's value is still shit.

re. banks just wait till u see what wbb and 1ex.trade can do Wink

Exactly, any bank coin is dead upon arrival. F the central banks, theyve been controlling people for too long!!!!  Power to the people!!

"Ripple, the interbank payment solution using distributed ledgers, has announced the names of seven banks on its network, the first in the world to move real money across borders using any kind of blockchain-based technology."

Eh? I can move 'real' money across borders on a 'blockchain-based-technology' without the need for a bank or ripple.

lol... yup... exactly Ripple will die with the banks, coming soon to a theater near you

Practical use by banks in their system of crypto currency and its advanced technology of blocking is a very positive moment for the distribution of crypto currency, because it was the banks who were at first the ardent opponents of its introduction into our life. At the same time, this shows that banks will not so actively oppose the introduction of the crypto currency and will look for ways of possible compromises in order to extract their profits from new technologies.

On the practical side, the token itself will most likely not gain any more significant value.  It has no real use anyways.

On the theoretical side, well, I'm a little torn.
Of course, companies can use blockchain technology and apply it how they would like.
But just something about it being used as a centralized system for banking really rubs me the wrong way.
It kind of reminded me of the novel, Animal Farm.

When trying to change the system the "revolutionaries" end up becoming exactly like the ones they were trying to replace.

Satoshi, where are you? Would you be turning over in your grave if you found out your technology was being used by the people we are supposed to be free from?

Ripple is so centralized and I really do not like the fact that you can not verify codes nor contribute to it's development. If this news is true, then I will say congratulations to ripple. I will rather prefer bitcoin or ethereum is in this position rather than ripple.

i never liked ripple. it's a centralized protocol with a simple token called xrp. i don't care if some banks use their protocol, because those banks don't use xrp and they don't have any idea about what xrp is for.

i feel like the ripple company pumped up the price to increase the valuation of their company. they needed to increase the valuation to suck more money from their private investors, and i'm sure that strategy worked.

eventually, xrp price came to a level that they won't be able to pump it up anymore.

The Rlpple coin is an illustrative example of the fact that the world's largest banks have stopped resisting the introduction of crypto currency and are using the advanced technology of blockchein in their day to improve the functioning of the banking system. Although the crypto currency will take a significant part of their clients from banks, and therefore profits, banks have nothing left to do but to reconcile themselves with this and look for opportunities for compromises and cooperation with digital money.

this is very unusual and unexpected actually. as you said it is first time for a fiat. that means ripple got their attention really much.

A Great Time to Start Something!
I have long read that Ripple was released in order to replace the old SWIFT method used in the banking sphere. A new technology based on
  blockchein makes it possible in seconds to move non-cash money to anywhere in the world. Now this idea is embodied in reality. This is a good mix of the old banking system and the latest technologies that provides people with crypto currency.

Actually, the original Ripple was launched as a "share trust/risk" among your pool of friends(!)

It was hard to understand but tons of people jumped at their giveaway.

You don't hear much about ripple any more. I guess they've been busy working away in the background. wasn't that Stellar stuff supposed to completely replace it?

Did the "old Ripple" rip us off. ?
I had one of the original (online) wallets/accounts when they first started. ... //Ignored it for a long time ... // Last I checked there was no option to login to legacy accounts.
Does anyone know what happened during the transition to "the new Ripple"
// Did they 'rip-off' everyone who was not tuned in?

````
"Contact Support" is not the point, since I am not sure which of ~3 emails I used, the vital info is saved in my browser related history.
Summary: I need a link to "the old ripple" (did they move it to a sub-domain?), so there is a chance it would work with long-term browser "saved passwords".
Did Ripple turn into a huge ""rip-off" for early accounts, or does anyone know how to login using "legacy" passwords?
Banks and crypto is like oil and water. We should not be trying to mix the two.
This is literally illogical. Correction, alogical. What do ETH and IBM on the Polo trollbox have to do with Ripple?
Really ? Seriously ? I *DID* make an effort to post WHY i brought it up.
I guess in too subtle of a manner.. try working on Reading Comprehension kid.
Yes, a lot of loose connections and inferences. Such are the workings of a conspiratorial mind, many loose treads bound together into a psychotic tapestry of paranoia and fear.
Santander has pumped a few million into Ripple:
https://ripple.com/ripple_press/ripple-adds-santander-innoventures-fund-as-series-a-investor/
Logic dictates they are going to want to get those millions back. They will push Ripple's platform/products to do this. So reasonable chance that XRP stands to gain from this as well.
Whether this fits anyones view on what crypto should and should not be is another matter, it's just not feasible that a big bank invest multiple millions and will not try to get ROI.
National Bank Of Nigeria #01
National Bank Of Nigeria #02
National Bank Of Nigeria #03
National Bank Of Nigeria #04
National Bank Of Nigeria #05
National Bank Of Nigeria #06
National Bank Of Nigeria #07
National Bank Of Nigeria #08
National Bank Of Nigeria #09
..and so on.
Agreed for kickbacks or favors to "sponsor" the ICO shitcoin.
In other words they pulled an ETH+IBM.. maybe (theses claims have not been vetted)
What did IBM do ?
They stated they would investigate the tech of ETH..
So apparently this meant we needed 1,000's of Troll-Box comments
hyping Ethereum through the Stratosphere to kingdom come declaring IBM USES ETH !!!111111ONE
SO..
I asked the super mega spammers who were sanctioned by Polo staff..
So is the testing connected to Poloniex or any other exchange ?
Are the coins somehow in a way connected to coins being traded on Polo etc ?
Nope & Nope.
SO i said well then screaming as loud as you can on Polo's Troll-Box NON FUCKING STOP FOR MONTHS
That.. IBM is using Ethereum is rather dishonest don't you think ?
Of course they disagreed and were quick to try and rail on about Microsoft next..
But i ain't done with IBM here guys..  Wink
Get this !
I had noticed after a while the spamming stopped about IBM using ETH.
So i asked the guys on Poloniex why did you all stop pounding the box with that IBM bullshit ?
I was told ?
IBM checked it out and decided to try and do their own tech etc.
LOL
Don't believe me then go to Polonibox Troll-Box logs and read..
Microsoft huh guys ?
All i will say about that is, your AZURE FEE'S are due scammy dumbfucks .. PAY THEM Grin
And i have heard Ripple yammer on about Banks using Ripple for a couple years now.
Every once in a while they keep trying to push this "News" as though it is new.
If it was true the coin would prob be $100 each by now.. but it's not (what does that tell you ?)
I say each time year after year as they keep saying this Bank bullshit..
You all think some reputable Banks out there are going to buy the bags
of some scammy as shit head ICO scam centralized scam coin fraud token ?
Ya fucking right ! ahhahahahah
I think the worlds banks are lining up clamoring to BUY Ripple scam tokens ROFL  Cheesy
And they could not "use" Ripple with out BUYING ICO SCAM COINS !
So their claim is outright silly nonsense and pretty much impossible.
No real bank is going to come to Bitcointalk and by centralized scammy ICO scheme tokens.
This "News" is fraud.
EDIT:
I almost forgot..
Minecache Fraud Shill for ETH said the other day he has his ear to the ground
and that rumor has it Big banks are diving on Ethereum and buying Shitloads !
Apparently Big banks are all about coming to Bitcointalk and buying scammy ICO tokens..
Why though when they are NOT a currency ?  Cheesy
This is literally illogical. Correction, alogical. What do ETH and IBM on the Polo trollbox have to do with Ripple?
I think Ripple is very mendacious with their press releases.  As Spoetnik indicated, for years Ripple would claim partnerships and bank participation when, in reality, all that was done was probably just a hour-long PowerPoint presentation or a few tests.  In this case, Ripple probably offered the banks a free test / prototype demonstration and they're claiming it to be the same as these banks using Ripple to move all their money.  Clearly this is not the case or else Ripple would be worth than Bitcoin and Chris Larsen would selling his company for many billions.
Generally companies get sued if they falsely claim partnership with another company.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ethereums-big-lie-ibm-adept-1151665
I made a thread about Ethereum and IBM.   Paul Brody. who was head of the Adept program, was either fired or left to do his own stuff.   There has not been an update about IBM Adept since summer 2015.
As Spoetnik said, Ethereum drones were nonstop spamming about IBM Adept and yet, if you ask them today on the troll boxes, they'll pretend to not know what you are talking about. . .
Same is true about dApps, with the most publicized one being Augur.  DApps was all hot air and all we ever saw come of it was illegal gambling and nobody really used it, because Ethereum has no users.
For this DAO stuff, before the DAO hack, they couldn't get more than 20% of votes and then the hack occurred.  Grin
