Bitcoin is not really the most modern currency, but it is the strongest and longest-lived currency, so it is popular, and since then it has become the king of all currencies. Other money, a lot of new altcoins are created, some have higher speed and development ability than bitcoin, however, they still can not beat bitcoin.

It is really not that surprising this is the case, what I mean bitcoin was the first and just because of that it holds a massive advantage that can only be overcome with a huge development by an altcoin or mismanagement by the developers and the miners.
